I have used vinegar and that worked, however they smelled of vinegar afterward which isnt really pleasant but it eventually went away.  I have also had alot of success sunfading ponies that are yellowed from the smoke.  Good luck!

I don't know which country your in but we have Lush cosmetic stores (you can smell them before you see them!) which make handmade skin care products and they smell incredible. I always get a gift set for Christmas and I use the box with its packaging to get rid of smoke smells, a Lush box with its original packaging (I think they use pop corn at the moment) never looses its scent  :)

MMMM Lush is some tasty-smelling stuff but if the OP is allergic to perfumes and strong smells, putting the pony in Lush packaging would probably make it worse.  :)

About a week in the baking soda/kitty litter should bring out the worst of it; then lots of fresh air will help!

I locked my Windy in a bag filled with oxyclean for over a month. She has a bath in fabric softener and then just soap and water afterwards.
Goodbye smoke smell.

Someone already mentioned it, but one of mine I gave her a bath in bleach/water mixture. The smell was gone after that.

Yup I second the pony sealed in a container along with a dish of kitty litter or baking soda - the first absorbs and the latter neutralises the smell. Repeat the process a few times - always ensuring the pony is sealed in with the litter or soda. Then air her or him out somewhere there is fresh air for a week or so and she will eventually be fine. :)

I've had them sealed up with the kitty litter for a few days now.... so today I'm going to try and take them out and soak them in vinegar water for a couple hours. I just tested it with one of my baits to make sure it wouldn't damage the symbols, looks like I should be good to go on that.

I'm also going to try it out with some Nature's Miracles stuff that I have, it takes out pet stains and smoke smells really well, so I'm hoping it won't damage the ponies, I'll test it out on a bait first :3

oh and I am very highly allergic to perfumes and strong smells, so the lush packaging wouldn't work for me, and I'm not even sure what it is since I stay away from cosmetic stores XD

Good luck - let us know on the vinegar - very interesting. I have never used it as I hate the smell and dont fancy the smell it could leave behind.

the vinegar water didn't damage the bait, so after I finish washing dishes I'll fill up a sink full of it and soak the ponies and see if that gets rid of the smell, I plan to give them a soap bath afterwards to get rid of the smell

okay so like... 6 hours or so later and I've soaked it in vinegar, and Nature's miracles... so far the smell is not gone, but I think it's better, it's not killing me anymore... but it's still not good...

I'm currently soaking them in a bath of dawn dish soap that has bleach in it hoping that this will help.

Next step will be to seal it up in a box with kitty litter and drier sheets.... and then tomorrow I'll go get some baking soda

Does the vinegar soak not leave the scent of vinegar on the pony?

I have to step in a say I have had no luck removing smoke from my ponies. I have used cat litter and baking soda for weeks and it has not worked.  The smoke smell returned in a week on all items I had sealed in both products.  Sun fading does work, but unless a pony needs that, you will lose some color on colored ponies..so I don't do that as a treatment for smoke unless the pony is yellowed as someone else mentioned.  I have not tried anything else...but these two methods have not worked at all for me.

The ONLY way I've ever been able to get rid of smoke smell is by airing the ponies and washing regularly for a looooooooooong time, like 6 months. It's an absolute nightmare to get out.

I got rid of smoke smell by putting my pony in a plastic bag (that I tied/sealed) filled with both baking soda and kitty litter for about a week. I washed the pony first but that didn't help much, I might have put it outside for a day also but what really did the trick was the baking soda and kitty litter. I also sunfaded it afterwards (it was white), don't know if that helped anything because the pony didn't smell anything after the baking soda and kitty litter treatment. The pony was also covered in a paste of water and baking soda while in the bag. This was a couple of months ago and the smell has not come back. Hope you get rid of that smell!

Do you have a product called Simple Green available where you are?  Try soaking them in it; it has worked for a number of stinky plushies I've dealt with.
