Only when it is chopped, boiled and served with "Bisto" chicken gravy! :P
Or - melt some butter, add a bit of garlic, salt and pepper, then drizzle it over the kale - not low in calories but rather yummy!
-
I like kale in zuppa tuscano. Wouldn't eat that bitter crap as a chip.
-
I love kale. I prefer it raw to cooked. It's great with walnuts and raspberries!
-
I don't mind it cooked (boiled, salt)...I don't think I would enjoy it in chips.
-
ewww

I love kale chips. Especially the cheesy kind. Mmm!
-
I love kale! But then again, in Holland we eat it like this! :D

Kale is best the way we eat it in the Netherlands, with gravy which we call "jus".
Stamppot boerenkool with worst and jus :yummy:

i love kale, can't get enough, but i also love asparagus/brussel sprouts/spinach/other stuff most people find 'bitter' lol
for the kale chips, do you use a good quality oil and what kind of seasonings? i use a very high quality oil, a tasty sea salt and my favorite parmesan cheese... also the quality/age of the kale is important, i have much better luck with fresh kale from farmer markets than kale from the store (also be sure to wash the kale thoroughly .... never know what nasties are hiding in the wrinkles/pits/folds). The Better Chip also makes a deliscious kale and spinach chip which is similar to a tortilla chip. but my favorite way to eat it is in a hearty, creamy, zuppa tuscana lol
-
Kale chips are the worst- although raw kale is even more terrible.
A LOT of people eat Kale in EVERYTHING in the PNW... I only like it once it's cooked, it's fabulous in a soup.
-
I do like it but I also like Brussels sprouts and broccoli too! Love it in soup like Leave a whisper said, Zappa toscana or Caldo verde ( same soup but with chorizo- I use soyrizo!

yeah that's what we had - kale from the garden, sea salt, parmesan... ewwwwwwww
My DD likes it raw!!!!
Next time I think I will try this Dutch recipe, it looks better than crisped, dead leaves :)

Yeah, I've had kale chips once like how kamakazee82 suggested - they were... ok! I think a little overdone the time I tried them (I have a very experimental mother-in-law!). Don't think they had parmesan on them.
I love spinach, but kale's not up there for me. I've put it to good use in a mash that I make occasionally, and my fussy 7 year old loves it? Pretty much it's potato mash with the usual salt/pepper/bit of milk and butter (but I usually also mix in kumara - that's a maori sweet potato but any sweet potato I guess would be ok - you can get a lovely golden variety of kumara), and pretty much a little bit of finely chopped/cooked onion, garlic and bacon mixed through - with the (very) finely chopped kale.
edit to add, that I let the kale 'cook' in the heat of the mix - raw is a bit blergh!!! :P

I love it!

Yes I tried making the Stamppot boerenkool with worst and jus. MUCH better!!! :)
-
I don't like the smell of them, I have tired one once, blah not for me.
-
I like it as a component in a salad with things like walnuts, cranberries and some kind of fruit. But its not a safe food for me..I react to it and most dark green veggies. Soo..yeah. Sometimes ill take a tablespoons worth of salad here and there but then regret it later.

Hahaha yeah.... there MAY be 5 liters of it in my freezer now

It's the taste that I can't get around. Now I like broccoli and Brussel sprouts. Kale on the other hand is nope,it tastes very bitter.
-
I love kale. I use it in salads. I like kale chips when I make them, but I use a lot of different seasonings on them. I don't mind it cooked in foods like omletes and such, but I don't like it cooked like turnip greens (not that I like turnip greens either). I like arugula, Swiss chard, spinach, all of that stuff in a salad.

:haha: Oh my gosh this really made me laugh!
I actually have no idea. I realise there is a whole load of hype around kale but have never tried it. I like all other green vegetables leafy or otherwise, so I suppose I can hope? However if it is so very bitter I doubt the kids will go for it and I prefer to cook one meal for everyone.
