"Alicorn" is in quotation marks, because I know that term enrages and confuses some people.

yeah there are lots like that - there is a time when Baby Surprise becomes an alicorn in Escape from Katrina. Ponies switch places all the time - certain ponies in one shot and then poof next thing you know it's different ponies and then it switches back again... gotta love all the goofs

Gotta love the QUALITY

One of the first things I thought when I saw her, though, is that she would make an AWESOME custom!

those errors were harder to make, not like the errors you can find in newer shows if you pay close attention

Why is the white unicorn constantly stepping on the pink dog thing?

Lol there's that and the gray one in the back, fizzy and buttons overlap him but he's lower on the screen so he technically should overlap them...and then there's the white one (cupcake?) carrying the baby, she's running in the air there at the end.  XD  And then the yellow bushwoolie runs into the wall!

I thought the quality was pretty good for the 80's. Especially considering the difference in how people animated then vs now.
Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

I thought the quality was pretty good for the 80's. Especially considering the difference in how people animated then vs now.

Definitely have to agree.  Many mistakes in animation are only noticed now because we are looking outside the letterbox margins - the "box" in which the average 80's TV set or screen's resolution would handle.  Like when people noticed there was a definite difference in the amount of peripheral action, characters, etc in a wide-screen edition movie?  Of course, after that, the industry really pushed widescreen and then HD-DVD and then Blu-ray.

That, and yes, it was easy to overlook how a cel was accidentally mislaid and the scene was compiled, as the shrubbery hides part of the action.

Film companies certainly didn't face a large number of complaints based on how many animation errors their shows contained in the 80's....  I'd say the animation teams have it harder now because of the constant feedback and criticism from the fans in nearly live-time.

But it does give us GREAT ideas for customs!  :D

Oh dear... I gotta admit, I have mixed feelings towards animation errors, specifically when it comes to those cartoons based on Hasbro's toylines: to me they pretty much range from being amusing and silly to being increadibly jarring, to the point where you just wanna smack the animators on the back of their heads for how lazy slackers (this especially applies to all the animators at AKOM).

Still, this one looks pretty awesome, though it's a pity that they made her run with other earth ponies and unicorns instead of making her fly alongside Surprise. XD

Also, this makes me want to rewatch the original cartoon just to check what other animation errors I can find... :D :D

This was common in the 80's because cartoons would be developed by a studio here in America and then they would send the information and scene layouts to a Korean animation studio (where they worked long hours and were paid pennies per hour, much cheaper than you would have to pay an American animator) for the actual animation to be drawn.

If you watch 80's cartoons you'll see it happen a lot. I remember often seeing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles talk with each other's voices. XD
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!
