Customs / Hair colors for Starlight Glimmer?
« on: October 07, 2023, 12:55:41 PM »
Does anyone know what hair colors to use for a custom Starlight Glimmer? I want to make one with the outfit from A Hearth's Warming Tale, and I don't have her brushable toy for reference. It looks like Glory and Firefly's color might work? I have hair from Dollyhair, but I'm not sure if I have the right colors (or enough). Shimmerlocks can be ordered from, as well.

Thank you! :D

Edit: Currently looking at either Glory 2.0 or Enchantress for the primary color, with Nebula or Lilac for the paler purple and Marina for the blue if I go through Shimmerlocks, and Sour Grapes, Sugarplum, and Mermaid if I go through Dollyhair.

Pony Fairs! / 2023 Midwest/Minnesota MLP Jubilee!
« on: June 09, 2023, 08:35:55 PM »
Also known as the MN pony meet, but people from surrounding states are welcome, as well! :D

It's that time again! Planning is underway for this year's Jubilee. Once again, we're planning on Labor Day weekend!

Where: Smash Bridges home, in the Blaine, MN area! (Specific address given by PM the week of the meet.)

When:
Saturday 9/02! Sunday 9/03 is also available to hang out, as there is an optional sleep over Saturday night!

Cost: None, but a food donation for the potluck is appreciated! See sign-up list below!

Activities:
Coloring contest, custom contest, trivia and games (see below), presentations, raffle, buying/selling of ponies, and food (normally potluck)

Host pony:
Moondancer! Bring your pony (and/or customs and nirvana variants!) for a group pony shoot!

More Details!

Coloring contest: Image will be provided, along with crayons/colored pencils/markers. All ages can participate; if there's enough people, we'll break it into age groups! Once you're done coloring your piece, add it to the wall for people to vote on their favorite before voting time is called! Do not have your name on the front of your colored piece, so voting can remain by coloring merit alone.

Custom contest: Celestial theme! Finished customs will be added to a table during the meet for attendees to vote on their favorite before a set time.

Trivia contest: Test your pony knowledge! Might also have questions about other 80's toy lines, though (ye be warned!).

Games:
The Dice Game!
Ages 5+
It's a staple for the MN meets, and is a fun event! Anyone who wants to participate brings a wrapped gift in the $5-10 range. Pony items are ideal, but not required. This can be items from pins to accessories, bait ponies, chocolates, plushies, and everything in between! No actual trash, please (don't be that person! It hasn't happened yet, and we'd rather it not). It's always fun seeing a big pile of wrapped presents in the middle of the table! :D

Game is done in three stages: 1) roll the three 6-sided dice into a pan. On doubles, grab a present from the pile. This goes until there are no more presents on the table. 2) Stealing! Roll the dice again; get doubles, you can steal a wrapped present from another player! This round is timed, and after this round is over, the presents are unwrapped and presented so others can see what you've gotten. This leads directly to round 3) Stealing rounf #2! Once again, roll the dice and you can steal a present from another player when you roll doubles! Only this time, you know what it is you're grabbing! This round is also timed, and once it's over, so is the game!

Basic rules: Wait your turn. No trash talking that won't be recognized as teasing (know your audience!). No shoving--we're all friend here. No grabbing a present without rolling doubles. Rolling triples also counts as rolling doubles. Try not to dawdle; this game usually is later in the day to allow for latecomers to arrive, and so people can scope out the table and see what they'd like to try for.

Bean bag toss: Exactly what it sounds like! For 2 players

Raffle: If you would like to donate an item to the raffle table, feel free to bring something you think another person would like to have! Raffle tickets are purchased by anyone who would like to attend, and the money normally goes to the host to help defray costs of hosting. Tickets are normally $1 each. Hang on to your half of the ticket, so you know what your numbers are. This is normally the last "official" even of the meet.

Presentations: I will be doing a presentation on how to rehair a pony, with nylon pony hair, embroidery floss, and yarn (not all at once, though that might be an interesting custom ;) ). Other presentations TBA! :D

Buy and Selling Ponies: Do you have ponies to sell? Are there ponies on your want list? You could do both at the meet! Alas, these meets are normally BYOT--Bring Your Own Table. We'll post more information as it becomes available!

Food:
Food is potluck! Please let us know what food item (or items) you would like to bring with to contribute when you let us know you're planning to attend! You can let us know here on the Arena, or via the MNMLP FB group/chat!

Hope to see you there! :awake:

Customs / My Pretty Pony Customizing/Restoring?
« on: September 26, 2022, 03:45:42 PM »
Has anyone made a custom using a My Pretty Pony for the base? I have one that I need to repair, and I'm wondering how to take it apart. Not finding any tutorials on the subject, and the Pony Preservation Project doesn't have one listed that I'm finding.

The one I have is my sister's, and it has 1/3 of the mane pulled out--the fabric seam is ripped out by almost two inches (about 5cm). Also need to restore the eyes, as they have what looks like a milky substance covering part of the iris; given what's on with her moving eye (mechanism still works! Woo), I'm assuming she's got mold inside of her, so I definitely need to pull her apart, regardless of her hair situation.

Not sure if my sister wants me to customize her or not (I assume not).

Any tips for getting one of these apart?

Thanks! :D

Participation in the potluck is not required to have food, but the more options, the merrier, right? 😃 Please list the food item you plan to bring with your intention to attend—we’ll add it to the list for who’s coming, so we have a quick reference for who’s bringing what! :pizza:

Customs / Portable Air Brush?
« on: July 15, 2022, 05:40:45 PM »
I recently learned there are smaller, portable air brushes available on the market these days. Wondering if anyone has one and any thoughts on them. I'm mainly doing brush-on paints at the moment, so this would be a completely new thing for me. :awake:

Thank you in advance! :D

Trader & Shipping Support / Trouble with GeektasticDesigns (eBay)
« on: October 14, 2020, 11:03:02 AM »
Hey everyone! Not quite a month ago I finally pulled the trigger and ordered some grosgrain MLP ribbons from Geektastic Designs on eBay. They were supposed to arrive on the 7th; I’ve yet to receive a shipping notification.

This past Monday, the listing went from open to ended in my watch list, which I hadn’t removed it from. I sent them a message asking for an update, and have yet to receive a reply.

One of my friends thinks I should get eBay involved, but it technically hasn’t been a month since my purchase, and I’m not sure how to do that anyway (it’s been a long time since I’ve needed it).

Thoughts? :awake:

Pony Corral / Gingerbread Dream Castle?
« on: June 02, 2019, 06:03:34 PM »
So I've been watching a lot of Anne Reardon's YouTube channel, "How to Cook That" (had it playing in the background at work today actually), and for a short time the autoplay went through the various gingerbread houses she's made over the years. One item that caught my attention was they now have molds to use to bake the walls of a gingerbread house. And the idea popped into my head to see if I could make a gingerbread Dream Castle. :enthralled:

Now I did check my mold making supplier's web site, and they do have food-grade molding materials that can go into the oven to bake cookies or a cake or something similar, so this is possible to do. I'd probably wind up with the tower tops being molded for chocolate instead of gingerbread, simply to cut down on the weight, though. The turrets may have to be done as two halves, simply due to oven height restrictions; I don't know yet.

What I'm wondering is, would you all like to see WIP pictures or for me to record video of the progress while I try to do this? I'm asking now because this way I have a few months to work this through. :)

Update: My gingerbread Dream Castle project is going to happen! I'll post updates as I can (we're using instagram for photo hosting, right?), and we'll see how this chugs along! :D

Pony Corral / Are all the Secret Surprise Pony keys the same?
« on: March 30, 2019, 07:10:51 AM »
Hey everyone!

I have one of these keys. I also have mold making compound, and resin. So now I’m wondering, are the business ends of all these keys the same? I’ve only the one, memory says it’s in great condition (I need to get it out of storage to confirm that, mind), and I can make a mold fairly easily, but if it’ll only work for one or two of them, then I’ll need to search out the key/keys I don’t have for this to be helpful to anyone. :awake:

I tried searching the wiki, but there isn’t a separate entry for the keys, much less pictures of the ends of the keys, which makes sense (one can hope, but why would there be?). Neither does Summer’s book, which is also understandable, and for the same reason.

Can anyone confirm that they’re the same, or all different?

Thanks! :D

Customs / Hair Color Match for HQG1C Genie?
« on: October 15, 2018, 02:56:21 PM »
Does anyone know what purple from Dollyhair matches Genie from the HQG1C line? The one my friend ordered came without a tail, and attempts to contact the manufacturer to get one apparently aren't looking good (from what I understand). This pony's rear DS leg is also longer than the others, so she has trouble staying upright; I'm hoping her having a tail with help her balance better. Please note that I'm not worried about the silver tinsel; just the right tone of purple.

Thanks! :D

Pony Corral / MN Nightmare Night Meet
« on: September 05, 2018, 02:15:58 AM »
Hey everyone! Planning is underway for the Nightmare Night meet! The meet date is November 3rd, only a few days after Halloween! :awake:

The Nightmare Night meet is going to be our cross between Halloween and a general fall/harvest meet, so family-friendly costumes are welcome! :silly:

So, what's going on?
Location: Starlight Event Center, Waseca, MN - Lynx room
Time: 10-5 (set up around 9)
Date: November 03
Host pony: Princess Luna!

Food: Chili dogs! (It was deemed the make-your-own pizza thing wasn't very pot-lucky.) Chili will be available both with and without beans, whichever you prefer. In addition, there will be nachos and cheese. For those who prefer the chili over the 'dogs, bowls will be available. For other food and to volunteer to bring something (even if it's just paper plates), please see Blackfrost's post below. :D

Events:
Events are subject to change, based on the time-line of the planners. Prizes will be chosen first-come-first-serve style from the prize table.

Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Pony!
The plan is to make the board from the party set human-sized, complete with a set of tails based on the ones from the game. Wall mounted, though, not stand-alone. Kids and Adults welcome, we might make this two divisions depending on how many participants there are. This might include make-your-own-tail fun; we're working out logistics for it. :)

Costume Contest!
It's Nightmare Night, so costumes are welcome! Please keep costumes child-friendly (and Kaz friendly) - this means no zombies, due to annoying, extreme phobias on my part. Strangely enough, if you want to be a vampiric pony with trails of blood coming from your fangs, I'm fine with that. Just, no zombies (don't ask me to explain my phobia, I don't get it either :yikes: ). There will be two contests: Kids and adults. Just remember - no forcing someone to dress up! If they want to, fine, but if they don't want to, don't make them. We want this to be a fun event. That being said, you can always bring a costume for someone along if you want, just in case they change their mind later (I also encourage not being passive aggressive/shaming if you leave the costume at home and they change their mind about dressing up; I like to think no-one on here would do so, but there are parents like that out there).

Bug Toss
Throw bugs (might be spiders, but others are scared of them, so we'll be in discussion) at the target to get points! Highest number of points wins! (Might involve either Catnip or Twinkles.)

Bean Bag Toss
For reals this time! May involve footballs or horseshoes (since I'm pretty sure we can't do an actual horseshoe toss).

Art contest: Make a drawing for the event! Winner chosed by popular vote.

Mini Pumpkin Draw: Want to draw on a little pumpkin? Take it home? Sure! (May or may not be a real pumpkin, will update).

Coloring contest: Color in a pre-made picture at the event; division for kids and adults (cause we all like coloring). Winners chosen by popular vote.

Custom contest: Do you make customs? Make one around the theme of the meet! Winner chosen by popular vote.

Dragon hide and seek: Spike and his friends and pals may be hidden somewhere around the room. Can you find them all? You don't have to move them anywhere, just note on the page where each one is hiding (kind of like a match-word game). This will not be a winner-takes-all event, each player will receive some candy when they turn in their page - the more matches, the more candy you get!

In addition to the above events, we're gong to be playing some movies in the background. In theory, they will be fun ones, like Garfield's Halloween, so won't be terribly scary (not only for the kids present, but because I am a wimp). See Blackfrost for more information.

Who is coming?? :D
Kazzellin
Blackfrost & Peggy
ScarletKitty
(Marla)
Dragonfly
RosierJay

Maybe
Aurora

Next time? :(

Pony Corral / Reconstituting Prom Queen SHS Perfume?
« on: March 27, 2018, 06:37:17 PM »
Hello all! I have been going trough my accessories in preparation for the meet this weekend, and I found the bottle of perfume that came with my childhood Sweet Sundrop.

There’s maybe 3/8” of liquid in the bottle (still smells nice!), and it’s rather milky looking, so I’m assuming either the water or the alcohol that was used to make the perfume evaporated out over the years. Has anyone ever tried thinning this, and if so, what did you use?

Speculation is also appreciated. :satisfied:

Pony Corral / Coloring Books
« on: February 25, 2018, 05:44:04 PM »
I recently became interested in collecting the G1 coloring books, but I'm having a hard time finding any information on them.

Surprsingly enough, mylittlewiki.org does not have a section for them - at all.

Does anyone know how many G1 coloring books were released? Is there an online resource for them that I don't know about? :satisfied:

Any information would be appreciated! ^.^

Trader & Shipping Support / Issues with purchase via FB link
« on: December 02, 2017, 05:46:27 PM »
Okay, so I ordered some frosting tips via a facebook link through a site called "Famous Tshirt Online" back on 11-10. They promised a shipment notification would be sent soon through their email confirmation of my order.

I received the notification on 12-01, and it's only showing one of the two items I orderd. On top of that, if I click on the link to view my order, or to visit their store, I'm now getting a shopify notification about the "nolimittshirts.com" site stating "Sorry, this shop is currently unavailable." The shipping notification email included no tracking information. I emailed the person listed as contact for order questions yesterday evening, asking if my other item is being shipped seperately or just wasn't listed, and I've yet to hear a reply back (though I did not get a mailer daemon notice, which I suppose is a plus?). Granted, it has been only 24 hours since I asked.

Needless to say, I'm rather leery at this stage. So since I cannot track the package, and can't even view my order anymore (except for in the order confirmation email), I'm wondering how to proceed? I used the debit card linked to my bank account to place the order; I don't think it was through paypal, but it's been almost a month at this point, so, you know, memory issues. I'm not sure I want to wait to see if a package actually arrives or not, given how long it's been. The total spent was $29.53, which has cleared my bank already (probably within a week or so of the order being placed).

Thoughts? Any are appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Edit: Decided to ask the bank for advice; they've opened a claim for me. We'll see how this goes!

Off Topic / How's college/high school going for you?
« on: October 07, 2017, 07:25:21 PM »
Provided you're in school, of course. :)

I've unfortunately let my reading pile up in a reading-heavy class, so am having to play catch up, and have yet to even log in to my online Spanish II course (stupid of me, I know; in my defense, my computer isn't hooked up right now and neither phone or tablet are supported by the web site), but aside from those I think I'm doing "okay."

You? :D
