I messaged Basic Fun to see if I could get any news on MLP….
And I asked if they were continuing the line and if so any news. (I don’t know how to add pictures here but I do have proof. Someone let me know how to post a picture) :)
They said and I quote:
“Hello Seanrob, hold on tight, next year we are celebrating My Little Pony’s 40th anniversary and there is a lot in store! Start getting excited!“
Eee! Fun!!! Can’t wait.

I only hope they don't release the Collectors Poses AGAIN. I want to see something different, like Big Brothers or baby ponies!
Even if they wanted to do Megan and Sundance, that would be better than more CP ponies.

I’m hoping for mimic and other expensive/sought after ponies that I don’t want to shell hundreds of dollars for… but really want.
I hope they realize that the people buying these ponies are collectors (I think mostly) and we would love the chance to own sought after ponies without breaking the bank. I think they would sell really well, Mimic, Munchy (which I do own), Nightglider, Diamond Dreams, Princess Taffetta, etc
That’s just a pipe dream, but I do hope the make Mimic, since they have started with the twinkle eyed, I’m crossing my fingers

I thought the flower fantasy ponies were slated for September this year? Hopefully that’s still the case and we get brand new stuff we haven’t heard about for the 40th year.
Megan and Sundance would be a nice surprise… or even dream castle. (I can dream) lol.
I would love to see them make the oringinal princess ponies with the bushwoolies and all the accessories though, finding those is really hard and expensive.

I don't really care what Hasbro do, since they sold out on old MLP already. Which is fine, they have other priorities. I just think it's better left to BF to handle the retro stuff.
The ponies that have inflated prices became that way because of collectors and bidding wars over 20+ years. So I don't think it's BF;s job to solve that by suddenly replicating everything just for the sake of collectors. I think it's more about the nostalgia and retro appeal of the line, and it probably won't be all about us anyway.
Though as a collector I'm not in favour of seeing ponies made just because a handful of collectors don't want to pay Ebay prices for them. It's not that I think collectors should fork out a fortune, just that I don't think that's what the BF line should be about.
Naynie and I were discussing this on the phone yesterday and we'd both like to see the first set TAFs. If it were a UK project, being they were 'Party Ponies' here, then that might happen, but I'm not sure about in the US. However the flower fantasy ponies have 2 poses that overlap with the first TAF set. So it might happen.
I guess we'll see about the FF set, but it would make sense for them to be part of the anniversary. They were part of the 10th anniversary. And Birthday Pony as well, given that they have her pose. Surely she has to be a possible if the FFs are?

OMG, so exciting!!! I hope it's something fabulous!!! :heart: I'll even accept glittery or bedazzled Collector's Pose ponies, I'm desperate for any news from Basic Fun!! XD

Birthday Pony would be a nice remake, and as a Megan apologist, I'd like her, too. :)
40th anniversary for the franchise, but it's also the 20th for G3... why not remake all the Celebration ponies? :sly: Could technically be different from the ones released already... like the correct navy-blue colour for the eyes and the floor-length hair!
Care Bears is celebrating its 40th this year, following on Instagram, they've done some collaborations, and they plan to release a Care-a-Lot themed bear. I'd like to see something nice like that for MLP. Hasbro hasn't used their ugly retro moulds in a while, maybe we'll see them come back to those. XD

I wouldn't be surprised if they did bring back the collector ponies somehow. They usually put in an appearance somewhere for anniversaries. Birthday Pony would be a cool one to rerelease too :)
Very curious to see if Hasbro will acknowledge it in any way too, and if anyone'll remember it's G3's 20th. Ahhh, how great would it be if they did some sort of G1/G3 crossover set? Like the G1/G4 Twilight set they did for SDCC a while back... but, you know, in proper G1/G3 molds, not Hasbro's weird "retro" molds :P
(I mean, I actually did like those molds, but they're not exactly G1 lol)

They should release some of the babies as adult ponies! Or add a gimmick to another gimmick like tropical big brothers! :D

I'm up for anything Basic Fun has not already made yet, so a nice wide open door of possibilities. Only request would be that they continue to try and find major retail stores for them since the last couple sets I had to resort to Ebay to get them once Target dropped them.

I stated that I was excited and I was hoping and crossing my fingers that they make Mimic… I guess we shall we what they actually do. 🥳

I am also not really wanting more collector ponies. They may be the original 6 but they have next to no presence here in the UK, aside Blossom and Cotton Candy who were rereleased.
I'd like them to release ponies we haven't seen yet. But I think it would be nice to see ones from sets we haven't seen yet. Even like a collection of ponies from different years.
...We don't need scented ponies though. I think they already did that with the rainbows for some unknown reason.
I'd like to see a proper Majesty mind you. That would be a nice touch. I'd still like a collector set of playset ponies, with Majesty, Sprinkles, Lemon Drop at the very least (all poses they have).

Wishful thinking, but still hoping for something combined with G2 (it's their 25th birthday) and G3.
But more realistically maybe an unreleased G1 set or something?

I'm ok with yet another release of Blue Belle... bring it! Love the retro packaging.
Heck, release the actual Birthday pony again, that would be fun and appropriate too - easy enough pose to reproduce.

Yeah, for some reason the first batch of rainbows were scented, I dunno why (maybe they had a lot of it left over from their SSC releases or something). It discoloured 'em too, they ended up re-releasing them without scents.

I hope they release the tales ponies, mail order ponies over all generations, maybe something about generation 2, I'm so excited. and I love the idea of grown-up baby ponies.

If they did the tales ponies it would be a major break away from their path so far, which has only been to release ponies sold in the US. I don't mind if they do, I think they'd be a nice set to release, given they had media presence in the US and thus nostalgia. But I think it's unlikely.

I say TAFs and second set TEs. They've already proven then can do TAFs, although hopefully they'll have eyeballs. I hope they sell on Amazon,as it's been a pain trying to find them in stores.

G2's start date is 1997, officially.
Mind you, it always bothers me how G1 has become 1983, when it should be 1982. It doesn't matter if the first full launch year was 1983, the hoof stamps are 1982, which means the designs were finalised. And the first ones snuck out around December 1982, according to reports.
Based on that, I would expect them to go with 1998 for G2 (if they recognised G2). Because that was when they were around globally, although I remember them being discussed when I first came online in 1997. I am sure DV had them mentioned on the site. So that would make next year 25 for them?
Light Heart and SunnyDaze have similar colour schemes...Sunsparkle and Pinkie Pie kind of do but not as much. But the obvious should really be Applejack, Applejack and Bright Bramley IMO.
