Pony Corral / Re: Removing magic marker?
« on: March 01, 2020, 05:20:38 AM »
I love the idea, and your flowers are great!  We kept Sparkleworks and a few others 'tattooed' and fancy because it worked for them.  Believe it or not that pony with the blue flowers drawn on (Peach Blossom) actually had all the blue marker come off and looks great except for some mild discoloration that looks a bit grey but is very unnoticeable!  She is my most successful rehab!

Some of them look good, others not so much.  Like poor Gumdrop with her hot pink body and bright orange legs and blue beard with blue stars all over, and Daffidazey had hot pink in her ears and nose and all over her forehead which made it look like she was bleeding, plus a blue mustache, large yellow patch over her whole neck, yellow chicken pox all over her face and body, and random pink, orange and blue stripes and spots and chicken pox on her body.  Poor girl.

I wish that they all were at least cohesive with a design, some just have big patches randomly or a bunch of lines everywhere.  A couple do work well though, Starflower has V shaped lines that I think were supposed to be flower stems and they look good all over her, kind of tribal almost and it is in a nice complimenting color.  She is the one with the short bobbed tail, and with her haircut and tattoos my daughter said she reminds her of me   One has butterflies all over her, Flower Bouquet I think, that she wants to keep as is because she says the butterflies are pretty and make her happy, so  :)

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't updated.  I got super sick and had a lot of stuff going on.   I just wanted to let interested people know what progress I have made.  I will post some more pictures later but for now I wanted to share my repaints I had to do.  Poor Gumdrop and Daffidazey were beyond help, like seriously bad bad, and nothing would remove the coloring because it had sat on the white for so long.

We already have a fabulous baby Goody Gumdrop so I asked my daughter if we should just repaint her white or turn her into a different pony and give Gumdrop another sister (Minty is her big sister, it is a candy family).  She asked if I could make a Skittler pony (that is what she calls Skittles. They are her favorite. )  She asked for a purple pony with 3 red Skittles as her symbol, with a flower behind so she kinda matches Gumdrop.

So I present to you... Baby Skittlers!  Please be gentle, it was my first ever pony repaint.

And Daffi, here I was almost done, just finishing up  with just a touch of color left around her eyes for a bit of an eyeshadow look.  Her symbol fabric flower is tied up with an elastic here, it worked perfectly.

If she is sparkly, maybe some crystal clusters as a symbol and a mineral name like Rhodonite or Ruby?  I love Moonstone because her name is one of my favorite gems, and her symbol is cool.
T here are not enough gemstone-ish ponies (this coming from a mineral collector...)

She's cute, I have never seen her before!  I like her hair color, and her symbol is different and pretty.  I love white ponies with colorful hair!   Color-wise she looks like she could be baby Goody Gumdrop's big sister.

On an unrelated note I have a treble clef tattoo on my wrist in the same shade purple as her hair so I feel like we are secret besties or something...

I recently made a start on increasing my Butterscotch collection, & got 25th (falls over so I call her Topplescotch) an Italian (the pale-haired one I call Buttercream) & this 35th one. Her hair is a bright golden yellow rather than the golden brown of the original so I call her Goldenscotch.

I love all of your Scotch names!!!  :lovey:

Since i just had a request on FB to take a picture of my Lickety army, i figured i'd post it here too!  Missing from the picture is my G3 lickety (shes upstairs) and my white with red hair helados (missing in the pony room, as usual), my reddish/magenta cone Lickety (suspect SHES in the computer room) and one i have coming in the mail, keep an eye on the Nirvana forum next week for my brag on her ;D

In order:
Back Row: Plush, duh.
Middle Row: Green Helados, Childhood Lickety, Peru, Spain, a Bait (intended to be turned into Blue), 2 So Softs, a Venny Squeaky Butt, and 2 Collectors Pose Helados.
Front Row: First Tooth, Zombie, Non First Tooth/Euro, Magenta cone First Tooth, and Zombie (again)  :D

I love them, that is a great collection!  They all look so happy!  I do have a probably silly question though... what kind of pony is a zombie?

Baby bottle brushes are useful for small hard to reach areas, the kind that have a small end for cleaning the nipples.  They can usually be found at the dollar store, and some are very bendy!

Our G3 Bowtie has the same yellow Mark's around the neck from the above picture.  Hair, symbols and eyes are all unfaded so I also assume it is a glue discoloration.  If your yellow blotches are also just around the neck it may be the same thing.  I did hear that some white G3s can sunburn though, that's why Idid not attempt to sunfade the marker off of Daffidazey.

Also I would like to see Quackers and Wind Whistler

Wind Whistler, yes please!!!

What are my odds of finding unscented Rainbows in the U.S., at this point? I’d like to hold out hope, buuut...

I ordered the 5 pack of rainbows on a really good Amazon sale and the listing said they were scented.  Box arrived, opened it up, and none are scented.  Apparently Basic Fun ran out of the scented ones on their Amazon and just didn't change the listing description.  Kinda relieved because discoloration, but kinda sad because I wanted to smell them...

Oh my gosh, everything is so pretty!!!  I love the shelving, and your collection is amazing!  I bet they are much happier out of storage and proudly on display  :good:

G3's colors are pretty, but I still like G1 the best.  Can't beat nostalgia, I suppose.

I voted for Fizzy, Gingerbread, Galaxy, and Masquerade.  I love their colors, they are so vibrant and pretty, their symbols are very unique, and we like their characters in the show!  I never had a twinkle eye so it would be nice to be able to get a new one.

Everyone's armies are always so cute, I always love seeing other's collections!  I do not have the funds or space to have many multiples, but I love seeing all the different color variants or poses of the same pony!  I don't know that I personally would own dozens of the exact same pony, but ones with different hair or poses definitely, or rescues because I am a sucker for rescues...

Can 4 ponies be considered a very small army?

You have a platoon!

Pony Tails were never glued in, they were only held inside the pony with a metal washer. My thought is that perhaps the tails aren't as full as they used to be before or are too sleek so the tail can be slipped inside easier. These ponies are held in place with basically the same system.

Thanks!  I have only one original g1 and she hasn't had an issue with her tail moving.  I had thought the g3s had them glued, we have loads of g3s and they don't budge either.  These must just be very slick, but they are soooooo easy to move!  Skydancer's bow was very loosely attached to the little elastic on her tail so I took the elastic off to reattach her bow better and her tail fell into her body like a centimeter!  I pulled it back out and when the band is on nice and snug against her backside it holds it in place well but I just worry about them sliding around when played with.
