Pony Corral / Re: Glowing Magic/Glow N Show Ponies Question...
« on: March 19, 2015, 11:22:43 PM »
I don't have any good info or pics to share, but I just wanted to say how relieved I am that someone else in the world had a Brightglow with straight and curly hair. My childhood Brightglow was like this and it drove lil me BANANAS! (My Sweet Pocket was like that too, but she was a bit easier to deal with by having only two stripes in her mane and a solid tail.) I never saw another Brightglow like that afterward though, and it made me wonder if the one I had was truly Nature's Mistake, or if I was somehow misremembering how much her hair irked me. Vindication!

I wish I had her, but she seems hard to find without rubs to the paint on her wings.

Her design is certainly a break from the usual. Although... I do think she looks incomplete somehow without a symbol on her rump. Like twice-as-fancy, but then one-third less fancy. I guess that would be 1.33 times as fancy? :P

I don't see a whole lot of love for Rollerskate ponies!

Oh man every time I discover ponies with pony wear it's always the best thing ever.

Did... do... they actually roll? :0

Better than that, they have that pull-back-wind-up feature that makes them "skate" on their own for short distances. I think only the front two wheels on two of the legs actually work though, the others are just for show. And the skates are molded on, so you can't take them off if they're broken, which they often are.   I would love Jazzie even with broken skates though!

Pony Corral / Re: Ants have infested my Funko Octavia D:

Augh, why did I click?! *shudder*

We get ant invasions here in the summer, but I've never seen them go for ponies. (They usually prefer the cat kibble.) The ones we get are just foraging, so a few strategically placed baits of sugar and borax usually kills them off pretty quickly. I don't know what I'd do if they were trying to actually move in!

After you kill off the ants, be sure to give Octavia a good wash with soap. Like you wouldn't anyway! But I know some ants can leave pheromone chemicals on surfaces to lead their comrades to whatever sweet spot they've found, and I wouldn't want them to try to set up shop all over again.

And now, I must go shower and try to scrub my brain.  :yikes:

Pony Corral / Re: Want to see red haired ponies and moon themed ponies
« on: March 18, 2015, 11:10:20 AM »
I love moon (and star) themed ponies too! Unfortunately, mine are packed away, but I swiped some pics to share anyway.

Here's Midnight Dream. Her hair is more of a dark pink and violet-red, but she definitely has a moon!

The Comic Con 2011 exclusive pony has the same colorway in her hair as Midnight Dream, and she has a few little moons in her design along with a ton of other stuff.

Oops, on preview, Featherwurm beat me to posting Midnight Dream. (And has excellent taste in reading material! lol)

Pony Corral / Re: Do you keep running into one pony from a set?

So. Many. Dancing. Butterflies.

I've had to actively seek out every other TAF pony, while Dancing Butterflies seems to throw herself in my path.

And Little Flitter for the wingers. Whenever I come across a winger, it's her 90% of the time.

I want her, even though I don't like her quite as much as Stripes or Raincurl. If one of the pinks in her hair were aqua to go with her symbol, she'd look better. I think the rainbow/music staff combination is cute and clever in a very late 80s sort of way. I always thought was strange that there weren't more ponies produced with music-themed symbols.

I also used tweezers, plus a pair of tiny nail scissors to trim off the strands that broke and couldn't be salvaged from the other end. Sometimes I'd come to a pony that wasn't caked in glue on the inside and the tinsel strands would just slide right out in one long piece. Oddly satisfying! I never fully detinseled my G3s though, just reduced the tinsel load 50-80%.

I second the use of mindless background entertainment to keep boredom at bay. And if you're doing a bunch at once, be sure to take breaks every now and then to stretch and relax your hands and eyes!  :)

Pony Corral / Re: Symbol or Cutiemark?
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:39:34 AM »
It'll always be a symbol in my mind. I'm old and set in my ways. :P

I remember how people bridled (no pun intended) at Cutie Markā„¢ back in 2003, so it's interesting to see how the newer G4-centric fans just take it in stride. I guess if the term is there from the start of your pony-consciousness, it doesn't sound off-putting to you?

Edit: Or yeah, what KarentheUnicorn said. That's what I get for not previewing!

It's awesome to see Fizzy on some merch! I can't wear flannel to bed without roasting, but if we had them in the US, I would totally buy them and turn them into a pillow sham or two.

I want her! I think she's beautiful, even though she's in the bleh Tootsie pose. Her white body and pastel rainbow hair really appeal to me. Reminds me of dyeing Easter eggs!

Introductions / (Re?)Introduction
« on: March 23, 2013, 02:24:06 PM »
Hello everyone!  It's weird to think that this might be my first proper post at the Arena even though I've been in and out of the MLP community since 1998.  I mainly hung out at Ye Olde TP back in the day, but I'm happy to still see quite a few familiar faces (er... names?) around.   :)

I never really know what to say in intro posts... I'm mainly a G1 collector, although I do have ~300 G3s as well.  I recently celebrated my thirty-*cough*th birthday, and my amazingly supportive MIL gave me Flower Bouquet and Stripes, which about sent me over the moon.  (I'm a sucker for a Posey pose!)  I enjoy the G4 show -- finally caught up on S3, thanks to Netflix -- but the toys don't really do it for me.  I don't have a lot of discretionary income, so this works out okay.

I'm really excited to finally attend my first MLP Fair this year.  I didn't think it and I would ever be in the same city, but the stars seem to have aligned at last, and hopefully I'll get to meet a bunch of you in person!
