As Teresat pointed out in another thread, Luna's body is subtly shimmery! It's a pretty effect 

That's what I was wondering, just couldn't think of a good word and sais 'pearly'. So my Luna is indeed a hybrid with a shimmery head and matte body, poor thing xD

Thank you for posting this! After I read it I headed up to the wal-mart in my town and they had them too! They had five of Celestia and one Luna. I had been having a kinda crap day so getting to snag Luna helped to make it better

They didn't. They were really picked over in general (only two brushables, and a few talking Celestia, and that was it outside of the new Luna and Celestia fashion styles).

I always wait at least a couple of weeks after Arena sightings before I go searching. Too frustrating!

I'm torn.  I already have the Target two pacl, but I really don't like tinsel and major glitter on ponies.  At the same time, I can't justify spending money on two ponies I already have just b/c the new ones aren't sparkled up :\

You could buy the new ones and sell your originals with all the tinsel/sparkle/glitter/poo

I found Celestia yesterday! (In Ashland, KY Walmart in town). I searched for Luna or more at other Walmarts in the area but it was a no-go.

Unfortunately there probably will be too many Celestias in comparison to Lunas as the retail boxes contain double the amount of Celestias as there are Lunas!

I found these the other day at my Walmart, but when I checked out they wouldn't let me buy them, since they weren't in the system. I'm going there again today, I hope they have them and want to sell them.
