I picked up a couple the other day, one for me because it is so cute, and on for my sister.  I LOVE them! And then, I couldn't believe it...earlier today, I FINALLY found that blue mini backpack from last fall!! I am having lots of retro G1 luck this week.

I have been looking for it too! All the WalMarts get things like this at different times or sometimes they end up with different things. All I have been seeing is Duck Dynasty and Hello Kitty everywhere I go.

Yay I picked it up yesterday at the comic store. They had lots of pony comics in the "New this Week" section so they must be popular. I flipped through a little and just love all the references. Can't wait to give it to my sister.

Ok great. I am heading up to visit my parents this week and there is a pretty nice comic store there. Since this just came out it is likely they will have it. I have gotten her some Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck and what not there so they should have the pony ones.

They could still be Brass Key. I have picked Brass Key Princess babies up at a Thrift store. Sometimes they are missing the key though. I'm trying to think if Disney Store actually made any porcelain ones but I don't remember any. (Not that I would 100% know.)

A while back Brass Key was coming out with A LOT of Disney Princess dolls.

Pony Corral / Re: Does Toys R Us or anyone sell pony wrapping paper?

It is $3.97 at Wal-Mart. I literally had some in my hand yesterday thinking about some birthday gifts I need to wrap. I saw a large gift bag too but it probably wouldn't work for your swap. Super cute though. Also $3.97 I think.

A lot of collectors may be saving up sets of G3s and there may have been more made than G1 or G2 but there are also more people in the world than in 1985. All those kids that played with G3 ponies and sold them in garage sales, dontated them, etc. will become adults and may decide they want to re-acquire their childhood ponies, just like a lot of G1 collectors. One of the main things that drive the prices of these things and other toys and "vintage" items are buyers trying to recreate their childhood. Sometimes it is nostalgia and sometimes it is for their own kids. For stuff like this it really is the buyer that sets the prices. A seller can price an item at whatever they want, but someone has to actually buy it to make it worth that. My Aunt sells full time on eBay and something she always told me was, "It is only worth what someone will pay for it." There is such a nice and honest community here. Pony collectors are lucky to have a place like this to trade, sell and buy.

Right now the G3s are very much victims of supply/demand as they are easily found at yard sales, thrift stores, etc but how many of those kids are going to come back looking for their favorites ponies some day?? Will some of them be worth as much as some of the G1s? Who knows? The world will be such a different place when those G3 kids are 30 years old.

Ooooo are there stores that sell these? I don't know anything about the comics except some have been available at Hot Topic. I need to get one for a gift. She is a big pony & Sailor Moon fan!

Giselle, I have no idea who any of the others are... LOL

For anyone wondering, here are the movies they are all from...

Eilonwy - The Black Caldroun
Jane - Tarzan
Kida - Atlantis
Megara - Hercules
Esmerelda - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Giselle - Enchanted

Each one is the main heroine of her film.

I could see a doll based off Amy Adams during the live action stuff requiring she be paid royalties but not the animated one. Dinsey messed up there. They should have written something into a contract for the animated character then. Oh well. :( Maybe for the 20th Anniversary of the move? lol

I chose Megara!  I love her attitude and sort of feel her struggle.  When I was a kid, I had the Hercules soundtrack and would sing her song ("I Won't Say I'm in Love") over and over.... I must've driven my parents crazy

Her song is one of my all time Disney favorites...and that is saying something! :)

I picked Giselle. I was about to pick Megara when I saw Giselle on there. She is one of my all time favorite characters!

I picked up some of the Giselle merchandise thinking they would continue to come out with more but about the only thing you may see now is a pin. :(

It is too bad the discontinued the orange hair Ariel because she really was a lovely doll. But I can see how she didn't really "match" the movie version.

That winter Aurora is from the Disney Store a while back. I have a lot of Disney Store dolls - a family member used to work there.

I don't mind the redesign for now. I think they are just trying to freshen them up but my guess is they will bring back a "classic" look in a few years.
