Please help identify life size doll
« on: March 12, 2020, 04:31:01 AM »
Hello, everyone! I saw this girl on a photo of a thrift shop and fell in love. But I don't even know what brand she is. She doesn't look like any doll I saw but still oddly familiar. She's about 25-30" I think and that is definitely not her original outfit. The person who took the photo said she was fully posable.

I have no idea. Her face reminds me of Bratz dolls though.

Ponyfan, yeah, that's what I thought when I saw her!  :)

-------------------------
I asked a friend from that town to go and check it out. Here's new details about this doll. Her head and hands are made of plastic and her body is like a plushie. That's a pretty vintage technique... I haven't seen dolls with plush bodies for 20 years. So she might be even older. There are no tags or stamps tho :(

.

The combination of modern style facial screening with older style body techniques leads me to think she might be homemade. After all most hobbyists don't have access to the methods used to make a plastic body. Could it be a My Scene styling head made into a doll? They had some heads that came with hands so you could do manicures.

Wardah, I think you're right! It seems to be so. My friend made a picture of the doll's hands and they look exactly like one of those manicure My Scene styling heads. Thanks :)

oh wow, that's really cool! I wonder how she ended up in a thrift store.

Carrehz, I think the most likely story is that someone made her for their child, the child grew up and they gave the doll away :)
