And is not only one of my favourite rehairs, but one of my most favourite ponies in my collection :) Some amazing rehairs there pkw - I LOVE Tuneys colours!!! thanks guys ^_^ Yum Yum was my favorite rehair. I just think that some of these ponies have such awesome dynamic designs, and one color hair is so flat! It's one thing if it's bright and contrasting, but strawberry surprise for example... can we say BORING?

The red is her original red, but then there's bold blue on the other side, and she's SLH. Skyrocket is pretty much a top fave pony for me, she is just so bold, so I had to go for it.

There are quite a few ponies on this thread that I now like because of the rehairs. Wish Hasbro had that much taste when they chose their colours in the mid to late 80s!No kidding! So many of the older ponies would be just spectacular... if a single colour was changed.

Oh, that Gusty is beautiful... I keep getting floored by everyone's pictures. It is just amazing how much difference a change in hair color makes.I actually use a sewing needle and dental floss to rehair! It takes a bit more time, but I find it really soothing. There is a fantastic tutorial that shows you how to use this method.

The blue looks amazing on her hair! I have a couple bald girls right now and one was going to get some virgin snow streaks. The other I was thinking of adding in a little of every shade of pink that I have (and I have a lot of pink hair lol). I have accurate wings for one, but I was thinking something fancier for the other. I'm up to about 15 by now, if you count the ones in pieces :) I love drooling over your wingers, you have some beauties!

I use some skinny ribbon in a loop pushing through the tail hole and I use needlenose pliers to pull the ribbon through the neckhole. Then pull the new tail in (carefully, so it doesn't get caught on the wing clip).

I just finished my very first rehair project: Beach Ball. (I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'm putting her here.) Originally, her hair was extremely frizzy, and just in between the nylon shades "water nixie" and "mermaid". Also, she had beginning tail rust.

Oh the inspiration this thread is giving me. I just LOVE what everyone has done with their ponies. I used to be so against rehairing in alternate colors because it "defaced the value"... but honestly now I get it; they're like customs but with more of the original charm!

Boil her for a few minutes. That'll loosen the glue holding her head on and it'll pop right off.

Sundance with blue is awesome!! I just had to try Retro dolls thermal colour change hair, and what better bait to try that on than Beachball, Its still cold here so it was hard to get her to change long enough to take pics, but you get the idea, LOVE it!

This thread is an awesome thread for a few reasons.
First, it opens up a new kind of creativity with ponies - One that I thought folks wouldn't like, and they do!
Second, I have a bunch of ponies that aren't baity enough to customize, but still have issues - faded/spotty paint, bad hair, missing lots of glitter but otherwise fabulous....
And the main reason I haven't done anything to them is I'm freaking out about matching the paint/glitter/hair/whatever correctly! Between all these alternative rehairs, and the ones that the cuties have been tweaked just a little... (love TwilightWhisper's Sparkle army! And that blue glitter Posey! OMG!) I can do things like this and not worry about whether people will call for fakies thrown at me! Whee!
With all the ponies I want to restore, this takes such a load of stress away! Pinkamena, thank you so so so much for starting this thread! :lovey:

So I wasnt aware at the time of rehairing Tiffy that the Fantabulous saran hair from RetrodollsUS was actually thermal also! Woohoo, So got a shock when I went outside to take pics. So she is rehaired in that, Middle strip is Thermal deep purple saran, and last is Cobalt fizz saran. All from RDUS, LOVE it so much, just placed another order. I think im an addict. To hair that is. Not really a bad thing to be addicted to is it???
And flower fantasy is rehaired in DH, not sure where I put the left overs, so not sure of names, sorry.
So this is outside in the heat today, in australia it is almost summer here.

Tried to match the purple of her jewel (which is kind of washed out by the camera flash) with the hair (Death by Bougainvillea) and the blue was to compliment the color of her medallion and eyes. :) This is my 2nd rehair ever to date, lol...

Just finished this girl yesterday! Ringlet's hair was in AWFUL condition when I got her - not only was it possibly the most frizzed matted hair I've ever seen, it looked like she had been run through a drier, too - full of gross yellow lint!
So, I redid her hair and used new colors to match up with her symbol colors. I think she looks way better now!

she also got like 200% mane in comparison to the original. hmm, i recently got a fluttershy and a rarity i couldrehair show accurate, but they have just one tone. and my collection CK rainbow dash, which i could "update".

I love your choices, especially the blend of blue and white. It really brightens her up. I have always felt she was a bit plain compared to others in that set. I would love to see some more photos of her! :)
I had to take my guy with the dyed hair outside for photos today, his hair looked ridiculous in the low light with flash. (Posing on my toolbox makes him more manly-looking anyway. :lol:)

Everyone's rehairs look amazing! I LOVE the colors on that Banana Surprise! And I happen to have a super baity Banana Surprise that will need new hair eventually if I'm able to restore the rest of her. I´ve had a bait Tuneful with light spots and no hair at all. I think in her past someone had tried to remove stains from her with Brevoxyl or something like that. She looked really poor, and I kept her in a baitbox for a long time. Finally I´ve got an idea what to do with her. I thought she could be lighter allover, and I treated her whole body and head with Brevoxyl several times, and kept her in the sunshine during the treatments, and here´s the result, with new mane and tail. :)

i got a beachball with close to no hair and decided to rehair her. they are hery symbols colors but lighter and the white stripe glows in the dark!
sadly i missed to show the blue stripe on the first picture, but you can see it on the second.
of course, in each color are at least 4 different nyloncolors. ;)
to me she looks really tanned now, like hula hula. ;) my other beachball is lighter and not so intense pink as the rehaired one.

I've got a bottle of the scented liquid. Never done it before but there are instructions on Dollyhair.com. Hopefully it works fine the first time.

Should... someone... start a new thread? I just finished a TE Speedy, and later she might be ready for pictures - I recycled real pony tails to do her tail, I felt really good about that, lol!
