BOY what a weekend... Spent almost 72 hrs with my husband's family, for his sister's wedding...    It just makes this post all the more appropriate!

Woohooo! 1st successful order on TaobaoNow arrived today! Inside... Shining Armor!!!

Despite his troll hair... despite all of the negative thoughts about his design... I like him! I'm not 100% liking his hair... same with his sharp jaw line...
 
Despite all of that... he's still CUTE! And I LOVE his size! Check them out with Skywishes for scale...

Boy... WHEN they make a Big Macintosh toy... I am SOOOOOOO on it!!!
 
And... I can't wait for the actual playset to be released (which I will be SURE to purchase, to show support for MORE boy ponies! And I think that castle will make an excellent wall display for this pair, and other ponies. )
 
Anywho... had to share! I hope the additional photos, from just about every angle... will help everypony decide how they feel about this guy.
 
Next up... wripping the hair off of one of my guys... and turning him into Daddy Gusty!!!

Odd question, but how does his hair feel compared to most ponies' hair? I don't really remember my Trolls that I had as a kid, but some reason I am having this awkward memory of it feeling funny. Also can the hair still be easily brushed?

Brushed? No. It can be smoothed with your fingers... it's really feather light... and very... whispy. It's really hard to describe... Other than "it feels exactly like Troll hair"...  

I think my biggest disappointment (as far as his hair goes) is the fact he doesn't really have a "tail"... it's more like a tuft of hair... rather than a real tail that extends out like a tailbone... you know?

We'll see what I find when I take one apart.

Maybe... but I honestly can't think of a better way to give the poor guy hair... unless they went the "molded" route.

I just can't see them having "brushable" hair like the girls... it just doesn't seem like it would fit the design much at all. I could be wrong... but that's just how I see it... I like that it differentiates him from the girls.


OH! BTW... he does have "eye indentations" for the shape of his painted eyes... (I was thinking that the sides of his face would be smoothe...)

We'll see if someone makes some molded hair for customs.

It does differentiate. I also like how you smoothed his hair back. It cuts down on the troll hair effect.

he looks like a homeless guy with that hair thing goin owwwwn, but yes silky here might look funny also.
but i love that cute manly chin he has, they are smaller then i imagined.
i think this will be hasbro testing the water for more boy ponies to see if it will be a hit with little girls or older collectors/fan base

the male face sculpt (and the wonderful squeeeeeee inducing pic of the two of them snuggled together lol) cements my belief in that it was made that way to "fit" with the female ponies faces so they create that wonderful image we see above .... SQUUUUEEEEEE!!!! ... i couldn't help it ... sorry lol

I think if he had normal pony hair, he'd look just fine.  TBH honest with this hair he looks like he's balding.
