I'm not really wild about them but I do love Baby Leafy and Creamsicle, and I'm fond of Oakly. I have the first two...maybe someday I'll lay my hands on Oakly

Pony Corral / Re: ~Out Now and Coming Soon ~« on: February 11, 2024, 06:06:02 PM »Taste is subjective, and nostalgia often causes bias. I do wonder whether there will be many people who will feel a similar amount of nostalgia for this set once they become adults. I think this is so true! Also, looking back at the playsets I grew up with and loved, sometimes it was specific accessories rather than playsets as a whole that I really liked. The basket that came with the Dream Castle? I kept and played with that thing looong after the Castle was given away. Likewise the mint chair and pink tray from the Perm Shoppe, and the suitcase from the Dance school (We moved several times when I was a kid and I couldn't take everything each time, hence I didn't get to keep the larger parts of playsets too long) All this to say, this Trojan Sunny set does seem to have some pretty cool little accessories that I think kids will really like. The hanging chair is sweet! 6

Does anyone know when the AJ and Medley plushies are releasing?
Amazon seems to be out of Polaris! Or at least she wasn't showing up when I checked early this morning. 8

Wow that playset is something else. I'm trying to decide if I would have liked it as a kid or not. I'm just not sure...
Anyway, G5 valentines are out in stores around here, here's what I found: Walmart had watercolor valentines. They are just a card with a printed lineart scene and 4 paint pads, and a paintbrush you attach. There is a Sunny design and a Hitch design. I got these and they were lots of fun, I had great success mixing the colors and such. Admittedly I did have better success on my second try using my own personal paintbrushes because as you can imagine the ones they come with aren't great Kroger had valentines that were a card, an envelope, and a "bag tag" - think a rubber(?) Sunny charm on a plastic clip. (Kroger is a midwest USA grocery store) I think these had the comic-book/cartoony style art but I could be misremembering. Target had some as well, I think they were a card, and envelope, and an Izzy and Sunny sticker. These cards had the CGI art. 9
Pony Corral / Re: Nearly Non Existent Pony Section« on: January 11, 2024, 05:45:47 PM »
The Meijers near me continue to have really good pony sections! Everything Kitcatepic described plus lots of G5 playsets and little plushes, and really just pretty much everything pony that is out right now that I could think of except the newer Basic Fun stuff.
Targets have almost NOTHING. Haven't been in a Walmart in months so not sure what they might have. 10
Pony Corral / Re: Collector’s Guilt?« on: December 02, 2023, 06:54:15 PM »
I haven't seen that Bluey collection but I have definitely seen some huge collections of other things. Sometimes they do seem excessive to me, but I was raised in a "moderation in all things" household. Still, it's really kind of a culture shock to me rather than being inherently morally problematic.
There is no way to please everyone all of the time. You gotta think of what YOU value. Unless you are donating every spare (insert your national currency here) to charity, then you could guilt yourself over SOMETHING, I'm sure. Did you fly on a plane this year? Shame on you for climate change! Did you drive a car? Shame on you for all those tire microplastics and danger to pedestrians! Did you watch TV? Shame on you for using electricity when you could have read a library book! There are so many ways to approach MLP collecting from a moral angle: unnecessary plastic packaging, spending money you could have donated to charity or something, keeping toys from kids who would enjoy them (debatable IMHO), supporting companies with possibly bad factory conditions, encouraging the production of plastic products, etc. I guess the key is to just keep your OWN collecting efforts within YOUR values. If you feel like you've gone too far, then maybe you have! If not, then do your thing I definitely don't feel bad about collecting vintage ponies. They are quite possibly no longer even SAFE for children to handle, so they are better off with adult collectors. Just thinking of some poor 2 year old teething on an old pony leaking plasticizer is gross For new ponies, I do really appreciate the move away from plastic and toward cardboard packaging! Plastic waste is an important issue to me personally, so this is significant to me. But to people who don't care about that, it would be a non-issue. But then, something else that I do without shame might be something they would find really bothersome. TBH, rehairing does bother me a bit bc of all the tiny plastic bits created when I trim the hair. But I try to keep that to a minimum and make sure it all gets into the trash can. Overall, I feel like toy collecting by adults is such a minor thing compared to other things that have a MUCH more significant impact on the world around us 11
Off Topic / Re: What are you buying or making for your family for Christmas?« on: November 29, 2023, 05:33:10 PM »
As usual I have plenty of ideas for my mom and not many for my dad. For mom I will make a pair of gloves and a hat, and maybe buy a book she is interested in. My sister usually will give me a very specific gift idea but I haven't heard from her yet what she would like... The past few years I've been getting things for my friends' kids like little craft kids, educational books, things like that. It is fun to shop for them but soon they will be the ages where they really care about exactly what they get, ha ha.

Pony Corral / Re: Celestials: Where to buy (non-Amazon!)« on: September 20, 2023, 09:29:23 AM »
I've looked at a couple of Cracker Barrels and Meijers in the Midwest USA, no luck. One of the Meijers still had all of the Posey wave of Basic Funs, (if anyone still needs any of those lmk!) and a couple TEs. One Cracker Barrel had a couple of the TEs, too. But no luck with the Celestials! I'll be continuing to look, as I would prefer to get then in person and I avoid Amazon as well.

Does anyone know if the Celestials will be in any stores in the US, or if they are online-only here?

Oh they made a Misty! I hope I can find one in a store, I'm really curious about how they did her mane styling. Her hair wasn't pink in the show, though? Is Hasbro anti-teal? And yes that is a rhetorical question, ha.
