I got my vote in again! :)
-
Awesome! Voted!!
From the voting site: "...even outselling Barbie for several years." Reading that sparked a bit of an emotional mix. It underlines how iconic G1 was, and it glaringly points out how far the line has fallen.
-
Voted! This was posted in an 80s Toys group I'm in on Facebook. The comments were very disparaging toward MLP :(
-
voted:)
-
Yay!!! I hope MLP Gets it!!!
-
i voted!
i'll be happy if MLP gets it, but I won't be mad if PEZ gets it either XD
-
:hiya: Voted!
-
VOTED!!!

No idea what this is, but I voted :)
Pez is not a toy, I'm sorry. It's a candy dispenser. And the pogo stick was a disaster waiting to happen! How they pick some of these for the "hall of fame" type categories I'll never know.
-
I just voted again.
-
Voted! :)
I'd be happy with most of these winning though, they're all pretty iconic and worthy of the win - although since when was a PEZ a toy?!? o.O Iconic sure, but... a toy?
(Also the MLP description acts like G2 never happened... sigh.)

Thanks for Voting Squirtsquirt!!!!
The Museum of play I just went to there about page its pretty neat. I never heard of Museum of Play before either until it evolved My Little Pony's, but its an actual museum in New York. the items that your voting for are the top 5 (I believe) Finalists... the one with the most votes gets to be displayed in the Museum of Play in New York. and its there 25th anniversary for the museum.
This is there about page...

This is there Mission Statement...
The Strong’s mission is to explore the ways in which play encourages learning, creativity, and discovery, and how it illuminates cultural history.
(I Love there mission statement I hade to post it in the topic)

I figured the popcorn push thing would get in. I also thought for sure Transformers would. Hmm. Baseball cards are a toy?
-
Not surprised by Nerf or the Fisher-Price Corn Popper. Well aware that Cabbage Patch Kids were popular. I am seriously head tilting though at Baseball Cards. How?
How did Transformers not make it? Surprised that My Little Pony didn't either honestly.
-
I guess baseball cards are at least more of a toy than PEZ dispensors? I dunno, I can see it but I'd have voted for MLP or Transformers over the cards - not just out of personal bias but also cause I feel they're more *toys*, trading cards I'd classify more as "collectables".
Shame none of my picks won, but I'm glad the winners are all iconic and worthy of the win, anyway. :)
-
Baseball cards are collectables, not even really falling under the playing card game categories... but I guess with trading card games... BBCs are probably considered in a similar light... since TCGs are often considered both collectable and play items in the terms of games.
-
I'm somewhat ashamed to admit I voted for transformers. Because while I love both, Transformers quality has only gone up, while MLP's quality has only gotten worse and lazier as the decades have passed.
-
Maybe next time MLP's will win.
-
I really wonder what audience they're targeting when they put up these surveys. But, my siblings and I had all of the winning toys. My Little Pony and Transformers should still be the winner though.
-
The corn popper wasn’t even an episode on The Toys That Made Us! I say shenanigans. :P
