Introducing my new guinea pigs!
« on: May 11, 2012, 07:31:56 PM »
I have been searching for the perfect piggies to adopt and I finally found them! Introducing my new babies, Bang-a-Rang and Rufio!

Bang-a-Rang is the top one and Rufio is the bottom :)
I adopted them from someone who was moving and didn't have enough time to take care of them and give them the proper attention. They're still really young  They have truly settled in beautifully. They're constantly purring and playing with each other despite their new surroundings. It's wonderful!

After letting them settle in a little bit I decided to take Rufio out and he really turned out to be the snuggliest snuggler :lovey: He was a little fidgety at first but settled right down :)

One of our dogs checking out the new babies. They really peaked his interest and they didn't seem to be bothered by him being nosey at all :) His curiosity has finally seemed to die down a little though :silly:

Sorry for all the blabbing but I am just so happy to have them! I've only had them for a short time but they've already captured my heart :lovey: I just had to share!

Thank you everyone! Yes, I loooove Peter Pan so I really wanted to name them something related and those two just fit them perfectly :)

Hyenacub, you know I really think they're mixed. They look like they have shorter hair when you first see them but it's longer and they have random longer hairs, especially on their butts. Lol And some behind their ears. So I'm pretty sure they're American Satins maybe mixed with something else. :> just my guess! Lol

Oh my rowling, they are the cutest ever!
I'd love to get a couple of guinea pigs, they are so social and adorable!

Think you did a good thing adopting them from another person instead of buying new one, cause there are so many animals that get killed everyday cause we people just doesn't have time for them anymore! Great thing you did!

Adorable little babies you have there! I miss being a guinea-piggy-mama. And I agree with miiiin, you definitely did a good deed by 'rescuing' them instead of purchasing whatever was on hand at your local pet store.

Best of luck to your new family members getting settled! :)

Thank you so much everyone! :)  I really do need to take more pictures! Haha I tried to hold Bang-a-Rang more today but he is still too squirmy to really be able to take a decent picture of him. :silly: We have been spoiling them rotten with little treats here and there. x'D

Although their daddy(the BF) came to visit today! He even held Rufio for a little bit since Bang-a-Rang is still a little less snuggley :P  He's a natural :lovey:

Awww, little piggies!  I love guinea pigs, they are so cute and sweet  :lovey:

I took care of some newborn ones when I was in middle school... long story, the science teacher had 2 guinea pigs, both apparently female.  I used to play with them every day at lunch instead of going outside, so they bonded really closely to me.  I noticed one getting fat, so I did some research in the school library and decided she was pregnant.  I figured out how to do a gender check and confirmed that the other pig was definitely a boy (oh, the giggling that ensued when I showed my best friend, lol).  Teacher (who was an idiot and nuts certifiably nuts - she got fired after that year because she was so unstable) didn't believe me.  Then, one day right before Christmas break, I was in my lit class and heard screaming.  She was in the hall, freaking out because there were baby guinea pigs being born!  (How sad that a 12 year-old knew and the science teacher didn't?).  I got to take them home over break and raise them.  I wanted to keep one so badly, but my dad said no  :(  So a friend got him instead even though I hadraised the whole litter.  They used to freak out and get so excited when I came to class  :lovey:  *sigh*

Calico guinea pigs are always mixed breeds. Even got to witness that myself years ago when a brown guinea pig and a gorgeous black and gold one had a baby calico together.
