best paint for a g4 custom?
« on: May 31, 2023, 12:14:33 PM »
i've been wanting to make a custom of one of my ponysonas, but i am not sure what kind of paint to use. i know most g4 customizers use acrylic but i'm not sure if it would look the best, the acrylics i have are streaky. does anyone have favorites they use for customs? :good:

this is my first proper post so please let me know if it's in the wrong place!!

Acrylics is what you want, yes. What do you mean by streaky? You'll want to do lots of thin layers and yes, they will look bad at first. As you put more layers on it will get smoother. My favorite acrylics to use are Folk Art and Apple Barrel, which are both craft grade and cheap. You don't need expensive paints :) It is a good idea to invest in a nice set of basic brushes though. Cheap brushes just kind of push the paint around and can leave bristles behind. You don't need the best brushes, but something artist level instead of craft level.

You can, but you don't have to. Once you get enough layers on the base won't show.

im worried the base color will show through even if i apply many layers and mess up the green, im not too big on color theory so i just mix up what looks right to me  :P
thank you for the help!
