The G1 Sparkle ponies are my favorite set, but I can never decide if I prefer the Mail Order or store-bought versions! It's all about the glitter, I never outgrew the childish glee of having glitter all over everything. I liked the G3 ponies at first, but I got rid of them because the plastic started breaking down so quickly. I have many of the G4 glittery blind bags, but G4 can never compare to G1 for me. I turn to the internet for opinions! I set the poll up so you can choose two  for people like me who can't decide.

We're in the middle of reorganizing, and I can only rationalize keeping one pony shelf one display during this time. But I don't want the rest of my G1 collection (three more shelves' worth) to breakdown or be damaged. Any advice?

Ambrosia was named for the sacred food of the Greek gods, which has been thought to refer to honey. She is my persona pony, inspired by the literal translation of my name. Ambrosia was born from one of the HQG1C ponies, the white glitter Gusty pose. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAmbrosia's base color is translucent white with sparkly silver glitter. Her natural body color leans toward a cool or snowy white, instead of a warm tone. She is rooted with Dollyhair Nylon in Dusty Rose, Fairy's Breath, Haunted Forest, Honeysuckle, and Tea Rose. Her mane has a 4-strand braid in it. One of her most unique features is the turquoise rose beads rooted along with her mane. Her tail has a matching turquoise bow. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAmbrosia's forehead is decorated with a honeycomb "crown" in shades of amber and metallic gold. The amber hue shows up better under direct light. Her eyes and cheek blush were left original from the HQG1C. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginHere's a close-up of her three-dimensional symbol. It's a rose with three leaves, and a jeweled bee perching on the petals. The bee is anchored into the body for durability. I used translucent ink for the symbol, so the glitter shines through beneath it. The symbol was sealed with a thin matte finish. I tried a few different variations of mane pattern, and made a last-minute change from a full blend to the classic stripes. I've got some HQG1 ponies for customizing, but I noticed they don't have any tail holes at all. What tool do people use to punch a tail hole? Or is it easier to root the tail like the mane?

My husband and I are thinking of getting a cat. We've had cats before, but due to landlords, we've had to pass them on to friends instead of keeping them their whole life. This would be the first one that could be all our own. One thing I know is that we need to pet-proof our house. For example, I have a small (one shelf) collection of plushes I've collected over years that I wouldn't want a cat to get into and destroy. Right now they're on the top shelf of my closet, but in theory a cat might be able to get up there and prance about in bliss. Then there's my MLP collection which might also be at risk? Do cats eat ponies? We've also got some exposed cords behind our television - do cats chew on those? The previous two cats I've had were so chill and calm, never had any destructive play issues with them, but they'd been declawed and were strays before I took them in. And, of course each cat is different in personality. The second cat adopted my sister's Jigglypuff plush and would carry it in its mouth from place to place.  Any of you cat owners - what should we consider in terms of pet-proofing? and other tips about adopting a cat? We are hoping to adopt from our local humane society.

And its probably going to be quite different this year, given the pandemic. Which has gotten me into a fit of nostalgia, and poking around on the internet, I realized that a lot of people stopped trick-or-treating before I did. My friends' last year of begging for candy was senior year of high school, so age 17-18. Then we transitioned to parties and later, walking our own children to houses.
My plan for this year is to bring our activities inside: decorations, scary movies, a candy scavenger hunt (in lieu of going door to door), baking and carving pumpkins, spooky snacks! I'm still trying to decide what to do about costumes, though - if the kids dress up, they'll want to show it off, and I really want to keep things indoors as much as possible.
When did you guys feel too old for trick-or-treating? How are your plans going to be different this year?

I've got quite a bit of free time now thanks to the pandemic, and back when I was into MLP:FIM I collected way too many plushes! 
But now I can do creative things with them! This time I chose my favorite G1 to convert into a G4, Star Hopper.
For the coat fabric I did some searching and at JoAnn's Fabrics found this amazing shade of green, with little glitter bits woven into it. I couldn't find a pattern for a G4 plush I liked, so I sewed the green sparkle fabric over the original plush form, trying to match up the seam lines.

The base was a pegasus pony, so I made a custom horn and sewed it in place. My sewing is pretty awful, but I am still quite proud of how the G1-style spiral horn turned out! Force of will!

I used leftover tinsel yarn and UFO patches from Star Hopper's older sister Moonblink (a similar project that I posted some months back). The patches were a lucky find on Amazon, and I changed the color of the patches as well as the pony's original eye color with fabric markers.

For anyone who needs extra sparkles in their life, I have to recommend this yarn - it's called Mary Maxim Starlette, and there are several different colors available on Amazon. Not a sponsor. I tried doing a Dutch braid to give Star Hopper some character. Now I feel like she has a sassy personality

The finished pony is not high enough quality to sell, but I really like how Star Hopper turned out anyway! And maybe posting this will inspire other pony experiments!

I picked up a couple g1 ponies secondhand, and they look to be in good clean condition, but the plastic is kind of stinky - I don't think its smoke damage, it just smells strongly like aged rubber/plastic. I haven't run into this before, at least not strong enough that it bothered my nose - anyone here have ideas on how to reduce the smell?

Spanish Mommy Sweet Celebration is in very good condition. I bought a huge lot of mostly baity ponies, but found a gem in the mix and cleaned her up nicely!

Awhile back I tried to customize one of the G4 plushes (since they're Everywhere), and now I've done it again! My sewing skills are... not great, but still quite improved from the last plush I posted. This is Moonblink! I gave her a yarn mane, which has gold tinsel running through it. A custom patch, a new horn and eye change, and some sparkles, and she's ready to go! This may be a case of my stupidity, but... I'm trying to buy one of the blank models from A Horse Of Every Color. Does anyone know if they accept credit card payments? They have the credit card icons, but when I click through the checkout process, it only lets me choose from Paypal or Personal Check... I'm digging out some of my collection, and it looks like a couple of my ponies might have some discoloration since I packed them away, but I'm not super sure. Nothing is really extreme yet, so I wanted to ask - which G1s discolor/fade more often? Are there any guides on pony discoloration? Do certain colors change more easily?
