The Dollhouse / Re: Ball Jointed Dolls- Thread #3

The pet dolls are so cute. My daughter has almost only non-human dolls.  She's actually selling her Doll Factor Lolo now.

I am waiting for Souldoll Junia and my daughter is waiting for Withdoll Pooky. This will be a long wait.

The Dollhouse / Re: How do you feel about re-casts? (BJD)
« on: December 29, 2015, 09:22:09 PM »
I am very anti-recast BJD.
I often see pro-recast people try to equate recast bjd with things like knock off handbags, "fakies", downloading music or watching movies online or prop replicas, (not to mention ridiculous entitled arguments like that they don't make enough $ to afford legit) but to me these things are all so different and can't be judged by the same criteria. It's difficult to argue morality. I've been into bjd nearly 10 years and having seen what it's done to the community and market, I will never support recasters or sympathize with anyone's justification for buying recast bjd.

Agreed!

Oh, Nine9Style is killing me! Their new bunny, Yami, is adorable! I'm thinking I'll have to at least get her head and switch out one of my other girls.

The Dollhouse / Re: Packing Dolls for shipping? (Vintage Cupcakes Dolls)

Depending on the value and condition of the dolls I might would spring for a box. But, I have had major issues with USPS and trust them as far as I can throw them, so.... >.<

I would also only ship in a box.

Fiona is adorable and Euka is really cool looking!

Karin - I need to see pix of your new long awaited girl...

I'll post pics when she has a face. I went on a shopping spree yesterday and bought her 4 pairs of eyes...oh well...

I'm so mad today. I ordered a very specific wig on ebay a month ago. It arrived today and it's a 6-7 instead of a 7-8. I really don't feel like waiting another month for a replacement. Does anyone know where else to get a white, superlong wig that's parted down the middle in a 7-8? And when I say superlong, I mean so long that she can stand on it.

i liked the cast of the face and she was on sale for a very good price. i don't plan on reselling her so i figured why not? sorry if it bothers you. i understand why it does.

Like I said, I'm not here to judge. I'm happy you like her and I think I speak for everyone here when I say we can't wait to see pics of your new babies :)

i know some don't like recast, but i want to practice faceups on a doll that didn't cost several hundred dolls. i do love her though. I hope to have pictures of them both taken tonight.

I'm sorry, but why not practice on a legit doll? It's very hard to ruin it, unless you're planning on using sharpies.

How about we don't be judge-y and not practice guilt tripping. Pretty sure she doesn't need to justify herself to anyone

I'm not judging, nor am I trying to make anyone feel guilty. It was a legit question. I've seen tons of legit dolls that sell for less than some recasts and there are plenty of legit practice heads sell for as low as $20-25.
