G4 is still a thing, but not as big on the arena as it was in its heyday. The arena's been around since long before G4, and earlier generations are more the focus.

Not that people don't collect G4 (that's 90% of what I collect) but the brony culture from G4 has faded a lot. I wish G5 inspired as much activity as G4 did

I'm only really into g4 still, but I'm not remotely as active on the arena as I used to be.

Since I only collect G4, I think in terms of blind bags to regular ponies that would be my preference. There were so many bbs I had hoped would get released as regular g4 brushables that never did.

Introductions / Hi from a Canadian in Ohio!

Hi everyone!

I’m an 80s baby long obsessed with the G1 ponies. My first pony was FF Cotton Candy and I’ve been a fan ever since.

I’m lucky enough to still have all my and my sister’s childhood ponies. (Though not our nursery or waterfall playsets sadly!). I’ve collected some additional G1 ponies over the years as they’ve cropped up at yard sales or thrift stores. I have a small collection of G1 merch as well, mostly clothes gifted over the years by friends and family that ‘get’ me ☺️ And a few puzzles and books from childhood.

Then last autumn I bought Summer Hayes book and got inspired to try to complete some of my sets. So I’ve slowly been on the hunt, and also trying to learn a bunch about cleaning and restoration etc. Which brought me here! I’m excited to learn from and chat with you all. And I really enjoy seeing/hearing about others’ collections. Thanks for having me!

Off Topic / Re: The Trivial Complaints Thread ... #3

 Ponyfan.

My trivial complaint - the tall cupboard has mould in the back again. We had some issues with a leaking roof a while back which has now been fixed. BUT getting the mould permanently out of the cupboard has been so difficult. I am resorting it now to try and improve the ventilation, but it's so annoying.

A few G4 ponies in packaging bore the brunt of it on shelf 4. Most are fine, but one had to be decarded. I have no real emotion over G4 on card, thankfully, so throwing the packaging out was not a big deal - but it makes me worry a little bit about my G1s in the other cupboard...

Fortunately the most valuable (to me) thing on that shelf, Wedding Bells Confetti's box, is unharmed.

Anyhow, one pony got unexpectedly decarded as she's fine but her package was toast. Another one needs to be decarded but it's a pony I already have loose so I'm not really sure what to do with her. The others wiped down fine, thankfully.

It's not a massive mould infestation, just a line of it along the back wall where the water seeped in and we didn't manage to spot it. But it's annoying and unpleasant.

Aha! Thanks :) It was driving me crazy trying to remember that!
