cleaning an air brush questions

To clean out an airbrush after using acrylic paints, do I need to use anything special or just run water through it?

Water should be just fine.  I still always remove my needle/tips and wipe them down though.  It only takes a few minutes and really makes a difference.  :)

I spray water or Windex in between colors and use airbrush cleaner when I'm done for the day.

Michaels carries it. I usually order mine from Amazon though.

so I would just look for airbrush cleaner? or is it something I would have to get specific for the paint I'm using?

I use methylated spirits and water (50/50 mix). After that, I usually soak parts (everything except the body of the airbrush itself) in a solution of dish soap and water, then rinse thoroughly and let it air dry.

What I do, since I tend to forget to rinse my air brush for days, I take the tip completely apart and put it in a cup with hot water and rubbing alcohol, let it sit while rinsing the needle and main paint flow area of the air brush (I also sometimes use small bottle brushes that is for air brush cleaning), dry and set aside then go and start on the tip. I do end up using the needle itself to get some of the paint clog out too xD I don't mine but it is a lot of work when I do forget
My DeviantArt, why not drop by and take a look!
