Authors you love...
« on: April 01, 2014, 01:36:35 PM »
When I was younger I read Cornelia Funke books. Now I read authors like Jim Butcher and Stephen King.
What authors are your favorites?

Back in the day it was Bruce Coville. Now-a-days I enjoy Christopher Paolini, Lowis Lowry, and Suzanne Collins. I'm not a big reader, I used to be, but don't have a lot of spare time any more I do try to read a few books a year...

I like a good adventure book - so Matthew Riley, James Rollins [] and people like that for me :)

My mum looooves Jim Butcher books - she is very much into that whole genre.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

When I was younger? KA Applegate, RL Stine, Tamora Pierce, and of course JK Rowling. Nowadays? Tamora Pierce is still on the list, along with Stephen King, Michael Crichton, and occasionally some Laurell K Hamilton or Anne Rice. I'd put James Roberts on the list but I'm unsure if that'd count. :B

That sounds really awesome. I'll have to read some of their stuff.

We're talking fiction only?

For fantasy, Robin Hobb.  For Sci-Fi/Fantasy fusion, CS Friedman.  For realistic fiction, Pat Barker.  For mysteries, Charles Todd.  For crime comics, Ed Brubaker and for war comics, Garth Ennis.

JD Salinger!  My God, that man was an absolute genius.  I'm so obsessed with everything he ever wrote.  Especially The Catcher in the Rye! Now there's a novel!  :lovey:

I'm also quite a fan of James Kirkwood (PS Your Cat is Dead, There Must be a Pony, etc.).  I also really like Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and Peter Beagle (The Last Unicorn).  Oh, and Arthur Conan Doyle (Shelock Holmes).

Ray Bradbury, H.G. Wells, Stephen King, James Patterson, Tom Clancy.  Bruce Coville, even though he writes for kids, is still one of my favourites.

Honestly, I'm more of a 'genre' person than an 'author' person.  If it's sci-fi, classic sci-fi, true crime, horror/weird, or a book series that ties in with my favourite TV shows, then I'll probably read it.
