I didn't have any ponies growing up, I was more into the original LPS, but I am curious how many ponies those who had ponies as a kid had. I only had like maybe 3 LPS sets that were my own and my sister had a couple as well.

Me and my sister had about 10 G1 ponies between us in the 90s. Then G2 came along, I got one and my sister who's younger got maybe four of them? I was already growing out of ponies at that point - only to fall in love with them again some five years later :lol:
I liked MLP well enough but I think in general I was more into Barbie (and Barbie horses) as well as Belville (again, they had horses!) :)

Not many! For my youngest years, I had the G2 Beauty Parlor with Ivy, which I took everywhere with me (I actually had two lol) and a whole slew of fakies which I believe were G1 Baby clones. And then in elementary school I had a handful of G3 ponies (my first being Petal Blossom) as well as every single G3 Mcdonald's pony because I was obsessed with miniatures as a child.
And of course, lots of other horses from other companies, mostly Barbie horses and at least 10 Star Prancer Fillies (which we kept replacing after the ankles kept snapping lol)! I usually had more dolls than pony toys, but I did love the ones I had then.

Originally I had 5; Raincurl, Rosedust, Baby Firefly, Baby Racer and Baby Rainribbon. When I was in Jr High a friend gave me her ponies of which there was about 15.
I too was more into LPS than MLP. LPS and Puppy in my Pocket were my favorite toys along with wild animal figures.

I think I counted 29 of my own, plus I shared custody of a few that lived at our grandparents' houses. I tried to list them in the approximate order in which I acquired them, since that's the easiest way to count them, but I may have left a couple out. Between my siblings and myself, I think we had close to 80 ponies total, and I consider them all to be my childhood ponies because we played with them all together. All the surviving ones are in my possession now.

I collected up until I was 22. Splish & Splosh were the last two I bought. I lost the whole lot a year later :cry:
By that time I had nearly 100 Ponies, though some had disappeared & I'd had to replace a couple of others. Aside from Ripple (dog) the disappeared ones were permanently "borrowed".
Later on I'll have to look up the list of the ones I owned back then. I remember some off the top of my head but want to be sure...
I did have the Show Stable, the Grooming Parlour, Cuddles's Buggy, & the Dance School for playsets, as well as Megan & Sundance. I also had all the Pony comics & Pony & Friends comics (but none of the specials) up to the ones released in summer 1990.
And my most wanted piece of G1 merch is the Lickety Split tail bag, because I used to have one. The Cotton Candy one turns up everywhere, but the few times I've seen the Lickety Split one, it's always bids... :(

A bunch of fakies, maybe 10? and 4 real MLP, 2 g1 and 2 g2 I got the year they came out. Not counting g2 mcDs. (I had 2 or 3 of those) I don't have the fakies anymore, but I have all my og Hasbro MLPs :)

From what I remember I had 6 at home and 1, maybe 2, at Grandma’s house.
If I think about it, I feel like I had a sizable amount of toys as a kid but no particularly large collection of any one thing, like maybe 5 LPS sets, maybe 5 sets of Kitty in My Pocket, 3 or 4 Grand Champions, 7 or 8 Troll dolls, etc.

My childhood collection consisted of about 65 ponies (all G1) and I had eight playsets. A section of our basement was my own pony village.

My sister started off with Applejack and baby Moondancer, then I got Windy and Pinwheel. Then later I would get Paradise, Magic Star, Magic Hat, Blueberry, Raspberry and Boysenberry. I mailed off and got Clipper and Starhopper. These are the ones I remember.

I had the best fakie ever as a kid. She was a little bright yellow pony with mane and tail of the same color that glowed in the dark. I swear she was the best and I've been missing her for years. I also had the Sweet Celebrations family and the Pony Bride. I still have the Sweet Celebrations parents and Pony Bride. Bought the Baby Brother Sweet Celebrations my first year on the Arena from someone here cuz I'd lost the baby when I was still little just like my awesome glow in the dark fakie. So...I had 5 ponies total as a kid.

I had quite a few as I did everything in my power to get them. From cleaning the house to collecting bottles in the streets. I'd say I had about 30 adults, 5 babies, show stable, pretty parlor, buggy, a sea pony.. quite a few of those heart shaped boxes with barrettes as well as stationary sets and sets with pencils, erasers and such. It was all about MLP for me.

It's hard to tell the difference between ponies I had as a kid, tween and teen. But the end result is about 27 ponies. The ponies I remember most are Glory, Skydancer, Bubbles and the two baby Embers and the others were added slowly through the years into my teens.

I remember Cotton Candy Being mine and Lemondrop being my sister's pony. We had the Grooming Parlour and Show Stable so we must have had Peachy as well, but I think we were told she was 'shared'. I didn't like Cotton Candy but now she's one of my favourites. Maybe it's only now I own all three that I can be magnanimous about it though. I think later on we got Cascade's waterfall as well, but it was second hand in the first place and didn't survive well.

If you include my two petites and my one second hand Mummy charm, I had 68 between 1984 and 1993, when I temporarily put them away. My sister, who is six years younger, had twenty ponies of her own between 1990 and 1994, many of which came to her second hand.
And then we started carbooting in 1995, so technically my sister had a lot more ponies in her childhood too (and my teenhood).
But the actual ponies I consider my childhood collection are those 68.

Weren't LPS out after MLP? I don't particularly remember MLP being a thing but then again I rarely got to visit toy stores when I was little because as a kid I put the H in ADHD. For some vague reason I remember kinda getting into things like Ninja Turtles and Sky Dancers. Thankfully my parents never did the "this is for boys" kinda thing but for some reason it turned out the more "girly" aesthetic captured my interest as an adult.

sisters had a few so softs and the ballet nursery. i had fakies and regular breyer type horses. i had a Ken doll so i don’t know why they didnt get me mlp too.

I'm going to go in and guess around 40 from when I was growing up, in addition to having Dream Castle. Fun times! My collection grew considerably right up until about 2014, where I had some significant personal issues and I had to sell off almost everything I had. I held onto those that were dear and near to my heart. And I've since picked up the 35th anniversary ponies. :)
