oooohhhh want!! I love BB ponies, since they were so convenient to display due to their size! I also like 'natural' coloured ponies, I think they're WAY cool! Might actually add him to my wishlist...

I had meetings all day and wasn't able to get enough time to make dinner, so my flatmate made me dinner and even made me a little snack to have during the meeting!! It was so sweet of her  :lovey:

As far as I recall, piggy ponies don't have hoof markings! She looks legit to me - and very pretty!

I'm not an expert, though  ^^;

Oooh... I have a huge sweet tooth, so any kind of chocolate, especially those little kinder choco bon things you can get. Biscuits, yogurts...

I also really like crisps, cheese, crackers, carrots and hummus… I could go on and on about food  :lol:

I snack all the time it's so bad  ^^;

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Funko Pops - who else is done with them?
« on: February 11, 2021, 10:49:13 AM »
I never liked them  ^^; A lot of the funko pops that came out for franchises I liked really seemed to undermine the point of the characters. They made an Alduin one for Skyrim - Alduin is mean to be a literal world eater, so it was a bit odd to have him be all tiny and cute, yannow? Same with characters like Wolverine. I felt it so strange that characters meant to be grumpy and grouchy and not at all cute suddenly were.

I tended therefore to buy the more 'realistic' figures - but most people have cottoned on to this funko pop style figure and it's wayyyy harder to find realistic figures. I do like some of the less 'chibi' style figures Funko has put out, those are pretty cool.

Obviously, that doesn't mean I don't have any - I have several  :lol: I've never bought one myself, but I've received a few as gifts, and even if I'm not a big fan, they DO make fun little desk companions.

My Tex, whom I've had since I was a kid [but got second hand], has a really... rough back? It's like someone took sandpaper to it, or something? It's nowhere else on his body, only on the spot on his lower back... but it's very strange. There's also a few tiny gouges there. I have NO idea what someone did [and I doubt I could get a decent photograph of it] but? It's always been there. He's very handsome despite this, however, and it means I can tell MY Tex out of a hundred :)

Pony Corral / Re: In your book, how does restoration affect value?
« on: February 03, 2021, 10:42:31 AM »
I absolutely LOVE seeing ponies restored rather than baited for custom, but I also think that the second you do certain kinds of restoring, the pony is, in essence, custom. Rehairs, symbol/eye/blush repaints, resculpted parts... I love seeing them! But these are altering the pony. Restored ponies should be marked, in the same way a custom would, if they have more drastic work done.

Personally, I would prefer NOT to buy ponies that have repaints/rehairs wherever possible, even if the alternative is smudged symbols or a haircut. Likewise, if a pony is re-haired in non original hair, I'm less likely to bite. I prefer my ponies in original condition wherever possible. Having said this, the work that goes into restoring ponies absolutely warms my heart, and, to me, it is always preferable to preserve or restore than to customise. Though that might just be me, but I always worry about ponies running out with the more time that goes along  :lol: My old collection was FULL of TLC ponies, and I loved seeing them in their played-in states.

I think because of these factors - at least to me - it does mean that the pony's value can go down. But sometimes it can go up. If you sunfade a mimic so that pen marks are now gone, it would probably increase her value. If you rehair her with new hair and repaint her symbols... perhaps not.

Ministry of Fear by Graham Greene - well, I just finished it. Graham Greene is my favourite author and the Ministry of Fear was just MASSIVE fun. I'd really recommend it! It does get a little graphic/dark at times, but overall is a lot of fun.

Pony Corral / Re: Are there any positive aspects to appreciate from g4?
« on: September 07, 2020, 07:44:28 AM »
I do quite like G4 - they were what got me into collecting, and introduced me to the world of G1, so for that, I will always be thankful to it!

I also was a huge fan of the size of the ponies - though they were way smaller than the G3 ponies I grew up with, they are so easy to display and store. The accessories, back when they came with a few, were absolutely adorable and I loved them! I had a box full of them, and it made setting up scenes with my ponies way easier. My shelves looked really cool, with all these ponies on them in little dioramas!

Blindbags I also really liked - there were lots of unique character designs, and they were very fun to collect. It was blingbags that I learned to customise on! The variety in those little toys - and the early G4 line - was something I grew to love quickly.

Though, it did have its issues. Especially at the end of the line. I stopped buying G4s a few years before they became G4.5s, simply because the quality was so low I could not justify to myself spending that money!! All in all though, I do have a fondness for G4s, and do want to have a roughly complete set of them at some point.
