I remember my first experience with sniping. It was a LOONG time ago, where sniping sites put in multiple bids. (and it was way too fast in increments for any human to be doing, since it was the time of dial up. Like every 3-5 seconds.). An auction I had bid $100 on, and was only at $10... went up in like $5 increments at the last few minutes... all the way up to $80. I won. Wasn't happy. But glad I put in a ridiculous amount.

Oh yeah, I know that. I just meant that, all other things being equal, you cannot snipe faster than sniping software if you see the price go above what you've previously bid. That's why when I snipe, I snipe with the absolute maximum amount I'm willing to pay. Still get mad when I get out-sniped, though

Oh. I can kinda do it, but it's not worth the risk. I can get down to 1~2 seconds manually. But if something goes wrong with the internet connection, then it can be lost. (I stick to 3~5) I just try to do something at a time if other people are sitting there at the auction ending, waiting too, that I don't give them a chance to bid after my last bid. <__< I think that's key for me.

I also get mad when I am out sniped.

I put tons of items from eBay on my watch list and even have an eBay application on my phone with real time auction watch alerts. I'd never just bid to "up" the price on anything I wasn't fully prepared to go on a bid war to win.

It sucks when you lose but it makes winning even more awesome in my book!

Yeeeahhh I lost a lot of Nirvana lots (ponies hidden in big lots) which were blatantly Sniping Software, and I was really peeved about it. I do view it as cheating, or at best very disheartening as it saps the fun out of trying to find a pony that you want, only to know someone has it on auto-buy.
