i'm in my early 40s so they're all pretty much 90s/00s sitcoms.  Frasier, Friends, Seinfeld, Community, Parks and Rec., 30 Rock are all good standbys for me. I've gone through phases with them.

Beverly Hills 90210 and Nick at Nite were my comfort shows when i was younger. before streaming and TV shows on DVDs. for those who are too young or outside the U.S. Nick at Nite was on Nickelodeon after 8 or 9pm and they played old sitcoms from the 50s, 60s and 70s mostly. so a lot of I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Mary Tyler Moore. i haven't watched those shows in forever but they're pretty comforting. silly plots and low stakes. nothing too bad ever happens and if it does it probably doesn't matter for the next episode :D

Captain N: The Game Master comes to mind. It makes me feel cozy and brings me back to a happier time in my childhood.

I have too many, but not a ton. They are;

- Spirit Riding Free
- All the My Little Pony Shows
- Bluey

I think this is it. I love re watching these when I can. I only watch Bluey on our tv channels as my parents don't pay for Disney Plus.

This morning I watched an episode and retrospective of a cartoon I haven't seen since I was a teenager: ReBoot! Has anyone here seen that show? It's a bit of an oddball in its 3D rendering style for a Saturday Morning Cartoon but besides that and Sonic SatAM, those were my comfort shows as a kid that I find myself watching when I'm really down. Those kids' cartoons have excellent writing and it helps encourage me to keep going as a writer, too. :)

I just realised I don't rewatch a lot of shows, some of the ones on this list are something I've only watched once or are still on-going and therefore don't really fit the definition of a comfort show...(?) In any case, they are my safe shows in the sense that I know what to expect (emotion-wise), they put me in a good mood and/or help me calm down, and are ones that I definitely would not mind watching again if I needed a show that felt like a warm hug.

Downton Abbey
Queer Eye (the "new" one)
All Creatures Great and Small (prob all adaptations but particularly referring to the new one, we just finished season 5)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I only saw it for the first time a few years ago but I'd love to watch it again soon, and I can totally understand why people view it as a comfort show! I do, too, even though I didn't grow up with it)
Supernatural (same here, I'm currently watching it for the first time with my husband who used to watch it... we're slowly ploughing through!)
2 Fathers (a silly Taiwanese show with a gazillion episodes, I watched it once but I'd definitely put this on for comfort)

Like Beth I also always enjoy 90s-00s sitcoms like Frasier, Friends, That '70s Show...

I have several that are my go-to shows.  They're mostly comedies and anime, my life has enough drama that I don't need anything too heavy added to it.

Big Bang Theory
Young Sheldon
How I Met Your Mother
Yuri On Ice (the animation is so pretty and the music is so good!)
Haikyu
My Hero Academia
Assassination Classroom
Gundam Wing
From Up On Poppy Hill
Whisper of the Heart
Dance Academy
Simpsons
Bob's Burgers

Derry Girls

I'm not even Irish but the time period was my childhood and the humor is right up my alley. Too bad it doesn't have that many episodes but I'd rather have a good show that tells its story and ends than neverending garbage. I just love rewatching it.

A show from my actual childhood is Jem.
My American relatives had it on tape and I always thought it was so scandalous for a cartoon. I love rewatching Jem when I need something light and nostalgic. The music has also aged really well. Other shows from that time period are damn near unwatchable to me. Jem was baby's first soap opera.
I only grew up with a couple eps, so as an adult I sought it out and binged the whole show and was hooked

:wonder: I don't have a list but I think I share at least one with others. Definitely Golden Girls, and those cartoon sitcom shows everyone has been listing. Although, I don't really watch them as often, I mostly put on essay videos or the like from youtube. I like a rambler!

I've come around to enjoying shows I watched as a child too, so G1 MLP + G3 (but G5 has worked it's way into that category lately), a few anime like Rozen Maiden, Gokujou Seitokai, Ghost Stories (The english dub, I really should watch the original!) and I'm sure a few more. I really love pokemon, but it's really the movies that are nostalgic for me. The poke anime totally puts me to sleep, but it's still fun. the care bear movies are relaxing too, but if we're talking shows? the original DIC care bears and later AIC are must watches for me, it's something about the art direction in the DIC version and then the writing in AIC. The DIC care bears was animated in Japan, and I believe it's soundtrack was made there as well- I think it appeals to the later 1900s period piece fan in me. Cheesy super sentai is occasionally fun to throw on in the background too.

I'll be aging myself with this comment, but Miraculous is a fairly comforting show. I don't enjoy it critically, and I don't like some of the direction. But, it's nice. It has a familiarity people like I suppose. Oh, the french dub! no offense english cast  Good work as always, I just have a soft spot for the original language. It's the version I watched when it released, so it's the version I prefer. (I can enjoy an english episode still! it's not like I speak french)

There's something hypnotic about shows that have tapes to me, there's a quality that simply can't be matched. Something about the slight distortions in video and audio, make it comforting to me. I remember my care bears movie tapes had much deeper pitch audio and a somewhat muted wash over the movie when I played them (it didn't matter which VHS Player it was in, or TV it was on) I believe they where used, so whoever had them before I did definitely played and rewound the tapes quite a bit (not that i'm complaining.)

I suppose to top off the list, the 80s Sylvanian Families, Star Wars the Clone Wars (Both the early 2000s and later CG ones), Strawberry Shortcake (Everything before the 2010s version, although i should give it a try!) So...mostly kids cartoons I guess? A few anime too.   ^.^ I'm sure there's more that will come to mind later (Lucky Star, Pretear, Kaleido star all come to my mind too, anime wise)

I don't think my list is particularly good, but I get caught up in the stories pretty quickly, forget everything else and don't stress about later.

Big Bang Theory
Merlin
UK Ghosts (hate the ending)
US Ghosts
Father Brown
