Glad to be of some help!

I have heard that So Soft ponies where in fact sold in UK, and have bought a few from driffrent childhood collections from there. But maybe these where not the official line, just a small quantity imported by a few stores in UK. I'm still looking for more information about this. Advertising etc. :)

They don't appear on the official Hasbro release list for the UK (although that is also missing a couple of sets that were). Everything we hve found supports the idea that So Soft ponies were not sold through official channels in the UK.

There will be some from childhood collections due to holidays, relatives visiting, trans-atlantic moves etc. For example, I bought various ponies in mainland Europe when on holiday that turned out not to be sold here, or my dad bought us some back from business trips to the US. Also, I had a childhood friend who had moved to the UK from Canada and brought with her a So Soft Wind Whistler (who I thought was most odd).

I will remove UK from the SS list then. :) As you say, they probably wheren't official, and no evidence exist of them being a part of the regular toyline, even if some stores could have imported them by themself from the US.

Does any one know if the Netherlands got SS ponies? They had other "US-only" ponies, like the second TAF set.. But that was a few years later.

Yes, no SS for us...but we should have got Paradise [no flocking of course] according to the 87 UK Hasbro catalogue...in the US this pony wasnt "included" in the box as it supposedly was over here...that would have been a nice UK exclusive!

We didn't get SS ponies overhere, at least not that I know of! Although, I did buy a SS gusty and Ribbon from a secondhand store near me and a SS magicstar from a non-collector on a dutch auction site. Probably imported from the US.

So the green eyed Gusty with glittery symbols is supposed to have brown eyeliner? I was wondering about this earlier when I wanted to know how to see the difference between the 'real thing' and a US Gusty with (UK) NSS Gusty's head..

No the glitter symbol version came in another set, the set with yellow moon dancer and the other uni/peg ponies. They had all black eyeliner. There where  other minor differences in how you could tell them apart from the US release.. :) (like Powder being significantly paler purple)

From my memory, the white plastic in Movie Star Gusty is diffrent from the regular sparkle symbol Gusty (much brighter white) I think the same goes for the green eyed sparkle symbol version, but will have to double check with my own Gusty tomorrow.
