I totally agree. I stopped collecting G4 years ago because the quality issues just got to be too much to deal with, not to mention the tons of main 6 everywhere. It seems like neither problem has been sorted out so no wonder the ponies are doing well.

I wanted to like Equestria Girls because mostly I collect dolls, but even for dolls they're just... bad. Compare them to pretty much any other dolls on the shelves and its no contest. Hasbro wanted to cash in on the doll hype without bothering to put in the time and effort in. Compared to the super popular lines like MH, EqG look like dollar store fakie type dolls. Kids (and collectors) aren't stupid... they can tell the difference between all the great details in MH and the complete lack of any effort in EqG.

Don't get me wrong, if you like EqG that's totally fine. As dolls of ponies they're okay, and repainted they can be absolutely adorable. But they're nothing compared to what Hasbro is trying to compete with.

Actually it's more like Hasbro saved all their effort for the deluxe dolls. My Rockin Hairstyle EG dolls are as nice as any of my MH dolls. I will admit tho that Mattel tries to put effort into even their cheapest MH doll while the basic EG dolls are lower quality.

I would love, love, love to write that.  If only I wasn't so tepid (and Hasbro's legal hoops so daunting).

I'm with you.  I have pretty much given up any hope that My Little Pony will ever be "My Little Pony" ever again.  Honestly, I blame the mini-figures for that, rather than the EG dolls.  Because of the obsession with "show-accuracy".

I dont hate the EG dolls, but I will say that compared to other dolls lines that likely have "spoiled" me, I just cant get into them.

So I do see what you mean. Nowadays I see more shelf space for the dolls than the actual ponies. I guess the EGDs sell more than the brushable figures?

Yup! When I went to my trip to Mexico, there was a WALL of EG dolls but, literally, only five ponies DX

I don't hate the dolls, but this is getting ridiculous. Hasbro needs a reminder that its "My little PONY" not "My. Little Weird Humanoid"!

I don't even like the ponies very much. A lot of toys now have weird proportions, lots of make-up on dolls, giant eyes, etc. Most of the time I think it's funny looking, not cute.
As for the dolls, I can't comment since I hardly know what they look like beyond a picture here and there. I'm not a doll collector. Even as a child I didn't want human dolls, only animals.

One thing that I fear is Friendship is Magic will consume My Little Pony from the inside out because it's currently popular.  That these characters will become the be all and end all of its existence.

I'm old school. I like ponies as ponies. That's why they're titled My Little Pony (and friends). Hasrro just doesn't seem to want to cater to those of us that would like to see G1 inspired ponies released again. Yes, we get random bits of merchandise with similar images, and the anniversary sets, but it's not the same as getting a fresh new pony or two every few months. But we could go on and on and on about this... and we have many times.

We need to remember there's a reason why they're called Equestria Girls (because they're more human-like). Are they my cup of tea, no. It would be nice to walk down the toy aisle and see more variety in ponies represented (getting this core 7 feel like G3 before it fizzled...). I honestly don't go out of my way to look at dolls or G4's at this point.

My first thought was that they looked like weird mice.  The G4 design had to grow on me before I liked it, to be honest.
