Deflocked so soft still feels sticky
« on: December 13, 2013, 07:53:56 AM »
I got a baity Wind Whistler I plan to get alternately rehaired, but after removing the flocking by soaking her in hot water and scrubbing her flocking off. However, no matter how hard I try, I cannot get the sticky residue off her. I'd try nail polish remover except that takes off eyes, symbols and blush.

Are there any safe ways to remove glue?

Use acetone for non-painted areas, and rubbing alcohol for painted areas.

rubbing alcohol? Really? Amazing! I use it all the time at work but didn't know it could remove glue without damaging pony paint. Thank you :3

It takes more scrubbing than the acetone will, so it would be a real pain to use over the whole body. With some effort and scrubbing though, it will take the glue off the painted areas without hurting them.

Actually, if you use acetone on a q-tip and rub very gently (not applying any pressure) then you can go right over the symbols. It takes a LOT of q-tips and patience but I've done if before. After you finish with one q-tip rinse the spot off in warm water, and of course test this on a small corner of the symbol that you can fix up if something does go wrong.

I know it sounds weird but it worked perfectly for me.

I personally recommend Jasco for painted areas. ;)

Edit: There is definitely a learning curve with Jasco though. Fair warning.
