Matte finish sealant?
« on: March 01, 2012, 01:21:03 PM »
What type of sealant should one use on a finsh custom?  I'm just wondering so I know which one I should get or use (if it something I already have on hand).

The helpful folks here convinced me to try out Mod Podge, a bit watered down. I have to admit I really like it.

for a matte finish the best sealant to use is Testors Dullcote. Highly recommended :)

Thirded!   :)  I use dullcote as a matte sealant, and anything I want to look wet or shiney, I  use triple thick.

Another vote for Dullcote and Triple Thick - I buy mine at either Michaels or Hobby Lobby. :)

Another vote for dullcote for a matte finish - another good one is liquitex matte varnish (for acrylics) usually available at michaels.

For gloss - I use different ones depending on how glossy I want it - triple thick is a good one and sculpey gloss glaze is really good too.

Is Testor's Dullcote waterproof? That's what's been putting me off of Mod Podge.
