Oh no, I wasn't meaning you, I just remember we had a pretty long discussion about it last time I believe, and I personally felt that people who used the knot method were thinking that people who use the rehair tool method doubt the security of the hair? But all I meant was that I think it was just put in to sort of standardize everything?

And as mentioned, the rules aren't set in stone, those are from the last swap so they can be modified. If everyone who uses the knot method is really feverish about not needing glue, who am I personally to say nay? Perhaps I can ask the mod their opinion on that particular rule?

I'm all in favor of the rules I've seen thus far. I would prefer G1's but since I do customs, I'm open to other gens if needed. I do like the idea of being able to send 2 hanks in place of a hank and bait (just in case). I think 2 months is good for a window (waiting on hair and baits can sometimes take awhile depending on where you are and the post), and I'm all for doing 3 ponies

I am liking the 2 hanks or 1 hank 1 bait type thing. But I definitely think the HAIR should be the part that doesn't change (aka, not sending 2 rehair baits in place of those)


For now I'm thinking we can keep the rules as is, with a preference of some sign up questions that might ask about "other potential generations you might be interested in?" - and since this isn't really a wishlist swap and will probably be a G1 focused, you won't be required to rehair anything BUT G1s, unless your partner has a preference AND YOU CHOOSE to do that. And of course a pony from another generation would fill one of the slots for the ponies.

I'm still a bit worried about cost - do you guys think finding 3 baits, and buying 5 (let's just say, one for each rehair and 2 for the extras) is too costly? Do you still want a small OTHER Extra budget on top of that, like $5?

I don't think it comes across as too expensive at all, I mean instead of having say $5 in extras, you could say toss in some stickers or some candy/chocolate (like $1-$2), not much of a difference. Or just leave it up to each person, stating that extras aren't mandatory but if you choose to send extras they can't be more than $5 worth. Just a thought

I don't think that's a bad idea at all either! I think we had some questions asked during the swap by the participants about what kind of extras each person preferred. Some did say rehairing supplies, I believe I had "decorative packing tape" on my list and got some, which has been really helpful, lol - and of course some people listed stickers, candy, tea, etc...

And I do like the idea of... additional extras on top of the hair/baits being "optional but no more than $5 in value" - how does that sound to everyone?

Okay so if I post here some... "updated rules"

This is a G1 only swap!
This is NOT a full custom swap; don't do a full body repaint, or make a new pony or anything. However, you are allowed to re-do eye and symbol colors for the sake of matching the new hair.
No restores to original hair color(s), get creative!
Hair must be doll quality material; do not use wigs or hair accessories as a source
May be rehaired with yarn as a 'perfume puff' style
Ponies may be flawed, but nothing substantial. An acceptable flaw list will be provided.
Rehair must be done neat, and hair glued in.
Must be willing to ship internationally
must be able to meet deadlines and finish on time.
Progress check ins are required see dates- pm me when your hair and baits have been purchased and post in thread updates.

What will the boxes include?
You will rehair either 3 adult ponies, or 2 adult and 2 babies. (I think we should keep it close to max number of rehairs in the box being 3-4 for everyone so we're all getting close to the same number.)
-Required Extras: 1 rehair bait condition pony + 1 hank of unused hair (from DH, MLC, RDUS/RDUK, etc etc etc) or 2 hanks of unused hair.
-Optional Extras: If you want to include additional extra items for your partner, no more than $5 in value


The requirements will also be staying the same as last time:
To Join:
you must have been an arena member for 6 months,
have a minimum of 300 posts and 10 positive arena feedback,
and show 3 examples of previous rehair work.

If people are alright with that I can start working on an actual sign up page to send to the mod to get approval. Dates should be close to as long as the last one, I think we had about 2 months. I was thinking if we started around the beginning of April, shipping would end up being around the beginning of June.

Again, I'm still flying blind as a host so I'm taking almost all of this from our last swap, so please express opinions on anything - or any of the rules posted, etc.

OH and another note: I know that we have had exceptions to the requirements list before (like you're a 5 month member... or you only have 250 posts or something), so if you don't happen to meet those and still want to participate we can definitely chat about that, don't let that be the thing that stops you from wanting to participate. Those kinds of things can be discussed as well with our mod once we get set up and start doing sign ups.

Not necessarily, I can talk to our moderator once I get the go-ahead about any one who potentially doesn't meet those requirements, I know that sometimes people don't have all the feedback here at the Arena, or maybe are a few posts shy or a little bit of time shy of 6 months, etc. So I will make sure to talk to the mod about it

Time gets away from me easily, and while I'd love to rehair one or two, three or four is just a bit much for me to manage right now (for personal reasons, not rule reasons <3 )

I just know my limits and it'll be too much for me right now. I'll catch the next one down the line <3
