I know this has probably been done before but what are your headcanons, pony wise? This spans from g1 all the way to Pony Life!
I'll start with mine!
Tootie Tails and Barnacle are married.
Salty is baby seapony Salty's father. (Her mother is a seapony he met at sea!)
All gens are connected (a childhood headcanon!) Just different breeds of horses.
The Tropical Ponies (Hula Hula, Tootie Tails, and Pina Coloda) are among the few non-pegasi that live at Butterfly island! Sea Breeze brought them there, and that's how Barnacle met Tootie, while traveling at sea!
Snuzzle and Peachy are sisters
G4 baby Hippogriff toys are newborn baby seaponies
G1 ponies are the wisest of the ponies in Ponyland, (Equestria and Ponyland are different, over the hill from eachother!) The first 6 are very old and respected.
Cotton Candy pose Applejack and Bowtie are just grandma Bowtie and Applejack, thus making Applejack baby Applejack and same for Bowtie at one point!
Majesty and her brother, prince Re, are the the rulers of ponyland.
Rainbow Flash and Rainbow Dash are related. Quarterback and Tux n Tails are twins, and Satin n Lace and Lickety Split are twins. Cocoberry Crunch is Tux n Tail's sister as well, since I got them together.
I like to think ponies I get together are related.
G3 Butter Pop is a boy named Steve ( My dad named him!) and he runs the local movie theater with his wife, Soda Float.

That's adorable. I especially like that CP Bowtie and Applejack are Grandmas with the other CP ponies. People do kinda shrink as they get older so it works perfectly.
I also have Snuzzle and Peachy as sisters.
My headcanon is all G1 at the moment and they all live in Little Pony Land. They are grouped into Guilds according to what they like doing and each Guild has a colour based on the seven colours of the rainbow. Thier characters are based on symbols and lots of other sources including the UK comics, UK fact file and story books. They live both outside and inside the structures based on the playsets, set mostly in pastoral landscapes. They don't live in houses or have motor vehicles or anything like that, it all just runs on magic. There are only a few males compared to the number of females, maybe 5 or 6? At that ratio, it's hard to put everyone in family groups. I think the Loving Family guys live in Guilds but the Mountain Boys only come down from the mountain in spring. I would need to check. I guess anyone in a Gingerbread pose could be male as well but it's not the first thing I think about :)

Those are good headcanons! I especially like the Mountain Boys one. I accept the Gingerbread pose one too, NSS Shady is male and SS Shady is female. I like the thought of them being related or different ponies completely based off their colors. somehow. :P

I imagine that G1 ponies are the ancient ancestors of G4. Very ancient. Ponyland has a kind of seeping magic that makes all creatures slowly become more and more alike and sentient. It also makes it easy for either evil or goodness to completely take over. Balance is impossible. Evil has to be isolated/converted. Humans used to live among ponies but they died out/were banished to another dimension. Princess Celestia is actually Megan and she keeps the two worlds apart for the ponies own protection and to try and keep evil from affecting the magic. The magic that makes her a pony effects the humans near the portal weirdly.
The ponies in ”Rescue” first lived among humans but their home was destroyed by striadons. The humans were killed. So the ponies fled. They found a castle but the dragons had followed them. Firefly knew they had to fight and realized seeing a human again might be the morale boost they needed. The castle actually belonged to Scorpan and he gifted it to the ponies after he became a prince again and left with Megan.
G2 and G3 was a time of extreme goodness but something evil creeped in and corrupted the magic.
Tomorrow, I might imagine something completely different. But that’s how I think all the worlds could be connected.

Scorpan/the prince visited Spike sometimes after Spike started living with the ponies or sometimes Spike visited Scorpan/the prince in his kingdom.

Windy, Pinwheel and Gusty are all related and have similar wind unicorn magic.
Floater, Up n' Away, Surprise and Sweet Celebrations mom are all part of the B'Loon family. Sorry, no Pinkie Pie in my Dream Valley.
Bangles and Buttons are twins.
Satin n' Lace and magenta Satin n Lace are twins, Satin and Magenta. Magenta is a vixen who wants to steal Tux away from Satin.
Skippity Doo and Playtime are twins.
Bowtie, Ribbon and Tux are siblings in the Bow family.
Sand Digger is mother to twins Sandcastle and Shovels.
And so on and so on.

I haven't been keeping track of any headcanons that I may have formed, but I have two off the top of my head.
Octavia Melody and Vinyl Scratch are sisters.
And Cozy Glow is not actually a little filly.

I love your art sm!!!!!! I feel inspired to draw my headcanons now. I forgot about Magenta Satin n Lace, I like that idea! I also like ponies with similar traits being related. It makes sense Pinkie Pie wouldn't be there seeing as this is g1, maybe g3 Pinks is a descendant perhaps? :lol:

I've been nursing some universe based off a throwaway line in an article along the lines of "Powder was the past queen who Majesty took the throne from", so I have a few things from that but I've been playing along with it very sparingly.
I do have some pony families going on in there, though. Like Powder is Milky Way and Ice Crystal's child, Surprise and Honeycomb are twins and their parents are Up Up & Away and Princess Tiffany.
Powder and Surprise are dating in my herd.

This is now my #1 Headcanon.
As for me, when I was a kid I had only one ballerina pony: Baby Tippytoes. I don't know why but I decided her outfit and lack of symbol made her some kind of special pony so she became the princess of the pony kingdom. She was a benevolent ruler who usually threw parties and then one of my other toys would come and kidnap her and the other ponies would rally to go get her back. XD

In my G3 world as a kid, Star Dasher and Gem Blossom were dating. Gem Blossom was a dancer & comedian and Star Dasher was her introverted tomboyish girlfriend who studied astronomy. It used to get me in worlds of trouble at super conservative christian school and it's easily my favourite pony story from childhood :lol:

I believe that Baby Ember, Knight Shade and the more colorful residents are a crossbred between Dream Valley and Grey Vale ponies.
I believe that the ponies split into several lines with the G3s being direct descendants of the G1s. And the FiM ponies bring direct descendants of the G3.5s.
I think the wizard Beezin was actually a crooked real estate agent selling stolen houses.
I think the G2s were bred down from descendents of wingless Flutter Ponies that ended up forming their own community, Friendship Gardens.
I think that sea ponies use fresh water places for their babies to hatch and grow until they're big enough to swim to the sea and that they're more akin to monotremes then mammals.
Baby Ribbs has fire breath and likes to bbq.

I like the split lines headcanon! G3 looks a lot like g1 so they seem like they could be related/or in the same universe. I also like the g2 one as well.

/Bow-Tie's sister (I have Tux and Bow-Tie as siblings, too). I might have to borrow that idea ;)
Here's mine:
- Definitely agree w/ the "Knight Shade is half-Little Pony, half-Grayvale pony" headcanon, I've always thought that, too. It just makes sense, he looks so different to all the other Grayvalians! And we never see his dad...
- (Not sure if this one counts since I think this probably is what they were going for, but it was never *confirmed*, so...) Ponyland is a "year inside, hour outside" sort of realm, like faerie realms and the like. Time there passes differently to human time. Thus explaining how the kids could hang out with the ponies so much without their parents noticing their absence.
- The Big Brothers set off on their race around the world just prior to the events of the G1 movie. Buttons acts so... fractious after Baby Lickety inadvertantly ruins the play because she's stressed out/missing Slugger and it's one of those "super trivial issue is the final straw" deals.
- Some cross-gen families: Capper Dapperpaws is some kind of a descendant of Catrina (and Rep!). Baby Squirmy and G4 Snails are siblings, and G4 Alley Way (the tall yellow bowling pony from the FiM, I think that's her name?) is either their mum or their older sister, I can never decide. Teddy (Tales) is G4 Snips' older brother, and their dad is Barber Groomsby (http://www.mylittlewiki.org/wiki/File:Blind-Barber-Groomsby.jpg) (dunno who their mum is... any suggestions?).
- I also really love the fanon of Ditzy being Dinky's mother, I love creating pony families and those two just look so cute together.
- Flim and Flam's "special talent" is creating apple cider, but more specifically it's working together to create cider, since their symbols are "two halves of a whole". (Don't normally go in for FiM's "special talent" lore stuff, but I like those two and I think their matching symbols are cute :B)
- Sheriff Ricotta (http://kittieoflife.com/mlp/funtimeswithsheriffricotta1.png) (the mouse cop from "Bright Lights" that has a different design every time they show him) is a changeling :P
As for my herd... I've got a lot of pony families so I think I'll stop this post now, or I'll be here all night :silly: I need to take some new pics of my families, anyway.

I really like your time theory :D I’ve wondered sometimes how Megan, Molly and Danny were able to spend so much time in Ponyland and never be missed by their parents.
:lol: about Sheriff Ricotta. I’ve wondered how the animators messed up on his design every time he appears.
I don’t know if this counts but in”Return of Tambelon” Bray tells Grogar that the Moochick and the baby ponies that were staying with him have been captured yet we never see them in Tambelon. I’ve always thought that the captors must have been on the way to Tambelon with them when Tambelon disappeared.

I like all the thoughts so far!
Some of my head canons I won't mention cause it might be a bit taboo? ^^; like my OTP...and some other characters I pair up...
ANYWAY!
In my ponies I think of Sherbet and MM Windy/Magical Breeze as a couple with Magical Breeze as gender fluid. All because I had a few duplicates of both of them and they always seemed to be together xD
An old story thing I had in my had as a kid was that the Tales ponies where the future of Ponyland and in one of the forests there was a magical way back to other ponies :blush:

I've had tons of different animated headcanons ever since I was a kid, most of which I don't even remember. One that particularly comes to mind was related to how much it always bothered me as a kid that in Magic Coins they called it "the city of the ancients" but it was just a single building (probably the background artists' fault) and I eventually came to a logical conclusion that it was simply the only building remaining and that originally it was kind of like in the game Atlantis: The Lost Tales, a huge palatial complex with a small town outside of it. And in the 2000s when I discovered My Little Pony Tales, I would also make a lot of headcanons about it. One of them that was also related to my OCD was how I tried to explain to myself how Squire could be real if Patch said his medieval castle used to be located nearby when they clearly lived in their equivalent of United States, by coming up with a convoluted story about how he originally lived in their version of medieval Europe and was killed by the dragon, but his story just got distorted over centuries. Yes, I always liked to overanalyze things.

Sunburst and taf Buttons are an item.
Moondancer and Majesty share custody over my custom country boy.
Seashell and bubbles are italian besties.
I'll add more if I forgot anyone.
