MLP Nirvana / PC MOC Greek Ponies
« on: April 10, 2015, 09:36:41 AM »
Hello fellow Pony People!

I have a few MOC Greek Ponies that I may be parting with, but I'd like to determine their current values of MOC with good clear bubbles and nice cards.

MOC Greek Sunbeam
MOC Greek Sunlight (blue version)
MOC Greek White Skydancer
MOC Greek Moonstone

I also have a Li'l Litters Happy Hopper set MOC as well (although not Nirvana, I figured I'd add her into the PC mix too.)

Thanks so much for your help. ;)

Snyfez lives in Austin. :)

You know what would be really awesome? I think they should include Jewel's My Little Obsession documentary as an extra on the movie release. Shout Factory added a documentary about transformers collectors to their boxed set of the 80's transformers cartoon, so it could be really fun to have them do it for ponies too. :)

Maybe I should suggest it to my Fair contact at Shout! :)

I saw the Escape from Catrina DVD set at Sam's Club last week, so they will possibly both be stocked there too.

I posted on the FB page, but just to confirm. I will be there along with my husband. I'm not sure if my son will be with us or not. I'm hoping that I can find a sitter instead. If we do end up bringing my son along, chances are that my husband will take him out around town to shop or something so he wouldn't be there the whole time. :)

I see that tables are already spoken for... can I bring my own? I have bunches of collection stuff to off load.

I'll be glad to see everyone and  I'm excited to get to play at a Pony event!

Hi Everyone!

Hasbro has asked that I compile questions for their Q & A session during their presentation at this year's MLP Fair. Please ask your questions below. :) They will be sent in on MONDAY.

The one thing that I believe people who are calling for a Special Edition Pony aimed at the collector market are missing here is the fact that we HAD our own collector-centric ponies. They were glorious, but they didn't sell...

The Fair placed short run orders with Hasbro for 1,000 pieces and out of 1,000 we were lucky to move 300 at a Fair event. The rest were sold online, through the Fair website or placed on Ebay by Fair organizers (back in the day when they were allowed to sell on Ebay- we can't now due to contract.) The last year that Winged Fantasy coordinated the Fair(back in 2009,) she personally was stuck with over 700 unsold ponies after the event. I'm willing to bet she STILL has unsold Peacock Art ponies taking up space 5 years later.

When I took over the Fair, I personally fronted the funds to purchase the 2010 Fair Pony. I didn't have enough money to purchase a full 1000 pony run since I was basically starting the Fair over from scratch, but since I had a prior relationship with Hasbro (due to my books), they agreed to allow me to decrease the Fair order to 500 pieces (I'm not sure where the other 500 went- Probably in some Hasbro warehouse.) It took me 18 months to sell them all (a quarter of which were sold at our cost just to get my initial investment back.) The next year, in 2011 I was able to repeat my order of 500 figures. Three years later, I STILL have Egyptian Art ponies to offload.

As collectors, we feel like we are this driving force of revenue for Hasbro (I also felt this way before I was on the other side of things,) but in truth we are a tiny drop in a very big bucket. It is amazing that Hasbro acknowledges us at all. I am grateful that they do and they respect our lasting passion and commitment to their brand by being involved in our community.

Even if you don't like the Comic Con figures we've been offered he last 3 years of the Fair, please try to appreciate the fact that we get something. Hasbro could have dumped their support and interest in the Fair completely, but instead have stuck by us and helped us grow our event.

Hopefully, in the future we can support having our own "Exclusive Only to the Fair Pony," again, but until Hasbro can be sure that I don't end up with 300 Ponies in my basement, I don't think we will be given that opportunity.

One more thing that I feel should be addressed while we are on the topic of the Special Edition ponies available at the Fair is the fact that the Fair depends on the revenue produced by the sales of this pony to help sustain our event.

While, I can appreciate personal preferences when it comes to a specific figure and one's choice as to purchase or not purchase it, it does the Fair a disservice to actively "boycott" it. I enjoy putting all of my time and energy into planning and executing this event for fellow collectors and hope to do so for many years to come. Rest assured that your comments on all aspects of the Fair and its product offerings (both positive and negative) are recorded and reported to the Hasbro team each year. What they do this information is out of the control of the Fair.

I have personally championed multiple "collector focused" concepts to Hasbro and hope that they will someday see the light of day. Until then, I am grateful that we have an event to attend each year that is acknowledged and supported by Hasbro. We've gained so much for G1 fans and collectors over the last few years including officially licensed products with official G1 artwork, which just a few short years ago was just a pipe dream.

Hi everyone!

I received a PM asking about my reaction to the idea of collector's making their own "exclusive" for the Fair. I'm copying my response here as well to clarify the position that the Fair must take as well as the potential negative attention that a project like this may create for the customizing community.

"Unfortunately,  the Fair can neither publicly promote this idea or approve it. The Fair name is owned by Hasbro and all products sold, distributed or promoted by the Fair must be approved  by Hasbro ' s legal team. Not only must the products themselves be approved, but the manufacturing processes by which these products are made must adhere to strict guidelines.

With that said, you may produce custom ponies for sale at a sellers booth but they cannot be promoted in any way that uses the Fair name or allude to them being produced exclusively for the event. Hasbro will be at the event, although in the past they have turned a blind eye to custom ponies, this type of mass production may flag creators for copyright infringement and legal action.

Personally, I support the community and understand the desire to do this (I own a Frisco and Trolley myself.) However, the Fair is now officially contracted and licensed with Hasbro and the Fair has changed dramatically since those days.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
Summer"

Edited to add: I think it is really great that everyone feels so passionate about this. Just shows how much we genuinely love our ponies and our collections. I think it is a really cute idea (one I myself have been pitching for ages for our MLP Fair ponies (G4- G1 characters.)
