Pony Corral / Re: Which ponies did you have as a kid?
« on: December 22, 2019, 09:24:51 AM »
I had two fakies and a fisher price once upon a dream horse, but yes I still have them! I thought I gave away all of my horse toys as a teenager, but then years later rediscovered a box of them way in the back of my closet when I was cleaning it out. I had completely forgot I had saved them, since the vast majority of my toys ended up at Salvation Army. Sailor Moon Dolls, Barbie, Polly Pocket, a Popple, a Wuv Luv and a Furby are what I remember.

Hey fakie sleuths! Not in a situation where I'll be adding to my heard any time soon, but I was wondering if any more information was ever found out about this line:

All I know is that they're called falabella and years back I got several from the set from I think it was ali express? The ones I'm specifically interested in information for are Tornado, Ice and the entire crystal set as I've never seen any of these ones for sale or even owner pics.

These are Sweet Box ponies series 1, Russian fakies by Confitrade. They're the Elemental Melodies! I've got pics of both regular and crystal sets on my Pinterest, as well as series 2-4. I haven't seen the names on the image you've shown before!

Here's the company website, currently stocked with series 4 Space Ponies: http://sbox.club/en/kollekczii/poni/

This is the description I have on the Pinterest:

Flocked blind bag sized fakies made in Russia by Confitrade. Info: "Confitrade is an unconditional leader of the market segment of confectionaries with toys. Our mission is to fulfil dreams, bring more bright and happy moments into the lives of our consumers: children and their parents."

They are packaged in a mystery box with fruit snacks.
Flavors: Strawberry, Apple, Orange, Mango and Peach.

Description (from translated Russian):
"In the palm of your hand, ponies appear from the magic boxes into which they come from the far-away fantastic corners of the universe. They are the keepers of gifts, patrons of elements and magic melodies."

Characters of this line:
Okta - element of fire
Lyalya (Lala, Lialai) -  element of water
Doni - element of earth
Reni - element of air
Sindy (Cindy, Sindi) - element of air
Diana (Diane) element of water
Basy (Basi) - fair and wise
Mila - element of earth
Funy (Fani, Fanny) - the keeper of the gifts of the sun
Sony (Sonia, Sonja) - element of fire

Any names in parentheses were from a translated Russian list or variants.

Crystal versions appear to be only present on the Russian site.

Edited to include Sunshine Ponies as well.

Pony Corral / Re: My Little Pony: Pony Life (Announcement)

My two cents:

Not gonna lie, the new art style had me unimpressed. The toys are weird.

But the more I look at the art, the more I don't mind it. The thing I do mind is the overly silly cartoonish faces. I don't like those huge mouths, and as everyone else has said it looks like TTGo humor.

I'm strongly praying it isn't. The 'lol so random! XD' humor is very dated at this point. I don't mind a series of the ponies just hanging out, but I don't want their characters to be reduced to 'let's be stupid for the sake of entertainment'. If the animation is just more exaggerated for fun, maybe that's okay.

What I do like is the artsy backgrounds, and since this seems to be an intermediary period between G4 and G5, that means this mini series won't be milked to death like G4 was. In all, I'm willing to try watching the show before deciding whether or not it's a hit or miss. I could end up enjoying it? But I'm tentative to jump into it with open arms. I hope it's going to have some sweet, tender or cute moments. Maybe throw in some new characters now and then? Otherwise I will keep my hopes to a minimum.

These do not look like ponies anymore. Even ponies have horse features. These do not.

The ears are cat ears. There is practically no snout to speak of. All facial features are forward-facing. Their heads and eyes are giant.

Her eyes are really green! Is she a nirvana, prototype or factory error?

She's Hong Kong so she's not nirvana, just a variant. There have been a few variant twinkle eyed ponies with different eye gem colors than the norm, including more green eyed Gingerbreads!

Congrats on your finds! Ponies are cool and everything, but I think accessories are so much cooler! Maybe it's because I'm cheap when it comes to them, I don't want to pay $5/item on eBay. I'm also just a fan of accessories/playsets in general. Woolly is really exciting too...

I feel the exact same way about paying for accessories on eBay...like the combs, they're just a little piece of plastic! 50¢ for finding one in person would be great, not gonna spend too much more.

Wow! Loving all the accessories!  The ponies look great too.
They all look amazing! Cant wait to see gingerbread
great haul!!  :lovey:

Thanks everyone!  Gingerbread is up, I took the pictures early this morning.

Pony Brag Arena / Amazing Pony Haul & Green Eyed Gingerbread (pic heavy)

Been a while since I posted a brag thread on here, I usually just post to IG since it's easier but I had to mention this haul! It's probably the best deal I've gotten as of yet on ponies! A bit of context, I was in an antique mall and found two dirty boxes, one with ponies and one with pony accessories, some broken. Pony box was $16, accessory box was $8. I go up to the counter to pay, and it turns out the boxes were half-off their listed prices! I also found Valenshy separately for $2 in the same place, so in total I paid around $15 for everything. EVERYTHING!!!

(my camera is garbage by the way, excuse the low quality pics)

Combs and clips.

And all the ponies! Pretty Beat, Tuneful, Sugar Apple, Caramel Crunch, Valenshy, Baby Woolly, Baby Stockings, Baby Rainfeather, Baby Snookums, and Twins Milkweed and Bumbleweed. There are some flaws I might post later, but that's okay.

Finally, just today I found another Hong Kong Gingerbread at a toy show. I was like, great, an upgrade for my poor stained Gingerbread! But when I put them side by side, I noticed her eyes are completely different! They're green!

We have a pretty diverse Doll Club here.  Problem is, their toy show ALWAYS co-incides with the model train show!!!!!!  since I am a member of one of the train clubs, I am expected to participate in that.  I have only managed to make it to the doll show once in 12 years.

I don't think I've ever been to a doll club/doll toy show. I guess I had assumed there'd only be human dolls! But I suppose mlp are kind of like dolls with their hair. :P

I scored 2! yes 2... Cha Cha The Llama's at the local doll show I could hardly believe it!

That's amazing! Pony friends are great finds.

^ This was my booth.  I had a great time!

Sadly I don't live in Washington, but to see this in person would be crazy. Your booth looks amazing!

I love toy shows! I’m generally lucky at them, I agree that it’s mostly “boy” toys, but I’ve had great luck. I also have had incredible luck making friends with vendors who sell other vintage toys and asking them to lookout for ponies for me. One guy has found over 40 ponies over the course of a year for me including a scoops! It’s worth asking at these places too as one guy had a bunch of ponies in his car but didn’t bring them in because he didn’t think they’d sell, he went and got them for me and was happy to unload them!

That's actually a pretty good idea to tell other vendors about mlp, I should really try that sometime!

Okay Valenshy isn't an 80s pony, but I love the shade her body becomes when faded.

Pony Corral / Ponies at Toy Shows/Fairs?

I was curious about people's pony luck at toys shows. Have you ever scored at one? Found a fellow collector? Maybe had a booth yourself? I'm not talking about a my little pony fair, or a get-together. Just an advertised event that states it's a toy show.

In my experience, whenever I try out a toy show, it usually has tons of diecast, model trains, hotwheels and action figures. Lots of adult guy collectors that are middle aged or older. It's very rare to see any girl toys, and no ponies. When I look at fliers advertising 'Toy Show!' there may or may not be a list of items that might be there. Usually something along the lines of 'cars, trains, lunch boxes, baseball cards, Star Trek, comics, vintage collectibles...and dolls'. One 'girl' toy might be mentioned in the flier, and it is always, without a doubt, dolls. The result of that, maybe one or two booths out of fifty that has like, three barbies each. Not even a variety of dolls, or even many barbies.

Every toy show I've attended has been fruitless. What's up with that?

I'd love to attend a toy show in my state with a high diversity of toys, but it just doesn't seem to be in the cards for me!
