Title: Germany duty taxes help please
Post by: nhal039 on February 09, 2018, 04:06:03 PM
Hi

I sold an item and someone from Germany brought it. The value of it is close to $180 us. I am thinking about upgrading postage (I will pay for this) but I realized it will increase there duty taxes so I was just wondering how to work out how much it will increase by

Thanks :)

Do NOT undervalue it!  You are basically voiding any insurance coverage if you do.

Fees are the responsibility of the BUYER, and just a part of international business.

I had no intention of under valuing it. However I am by my own account add more  value to it buy increasing post costs, I have every intention of paying the difference in duty fees for adding more value to the item. I am just trying to find out how I work out these duty fees

You'd have to count 21% of any additional worth, in that range of worth above 150 Euros. Below 150 Euros, it'd be 19% of additional cost.

Found it here: http://www.zoll.de/DE/Privatpersonen/Postsendungen-Internetbestellungen/Sendungen-aus-einem-Nicht-EU-Staat/Zoll-und-Steuern/Internetbestellungen/internetbestellungen.html (it's in German though).

Thanks tiara, that's helpful to know :) I ended up messaging the buyer direct and sorted out the shipping, I ended up posting untracked and the parcel arrived safely and soundly. Thanks again thou
