She is lovely! Congrats on her :) I think she is such an underrated girl.

It could honestly be all manner of things even the fact that different coloured hair could react differently over time. Hair which has been so heavily treated in order to get the original curl is always a teeny tiny but more prone to suffering (mainly no doubt due to all the brushing/tugging over the years). The orange streak could have had something on it years ago which contributed to the breakage or the original hair used could just have a lower resistance to the chemicals originally used to hold it in place.

We do see different hair colours react differently over time but, as mostly we don't know what the ponies we have in our collection have been through over the years, its always a little hard to be completely accurate. But I would expect it to come down to just being a different hair (colour or quality) originally :)

Super cute! I don't think any of this set quite get the attention they deserve. I think she is perhaps my fav of them all. Cant resist that baby Pegasus pose!

edit...woah...weird new computer keeps autocorrecting Pegasus and putting a capital letter at it...

Nice finds! :) Well done on the Cherries as well - she is always a little harder to track down as she is overlooked so easily.

I could be remembering this completely incorrectly I think the batch which turned up on the market in Europe was slightly different in size than the original release. I cant recall if it was smaller or larger unfortunately! I just remember that there was a notable difference.

Pony Corral / Re: Are plastic bins good for pony storage?
« on: July 29, 2018, 05:31:28 AM »
Maybe it depends on how perfect you want them to come back out?

It doesn't matter what you store - if you want something to come back out in the same packed away condition you have to take some measures to ensure that is the case.

Plastic is not the best option - unless you ventilate the box and store the ponies in acid free tissue paper. But then again, if its all you have, then you just have to make it as ideal as possible for your situation. The amount of time they will be stored, the atmosphere conditions of where you live are also large part of what you actually have to put in place.

As Baby Sugarberry says, you may encounter more issues with ponies causing issues with others stored in the same place than the plastic box itself.

If you want them to come back out as perfect as possible - wrap them in acid free tissue paper, ensure to wrap hair around legs and protect each by having tissue paper between hair/body. Ventilate the box and line it. Store the box in a place which is not subject to great differences in humidity/temperature and ensure to check on them (rotate them) regularly.

Pony Corral / Re: Price check on a G1 flutter pony sticker (Puffy)

I do always think higher level accessories which a smaller number of collectors are interested in - are always better trade-fodder than sales :P Mainly as it can be a very limited audience willing to spend what they are worth and if you catch it at the wrong time, getting the right value is hard.

It obviously wont be as fast a process as a sale but if you have something you are looking for which is very hard to find and you have something equally hard to find - I would try a trade first. I know that's what I am about to do with a lot of my extras.

As for value to value - that set of Hopscotch, etc have their stickers come up less and are probably one of the more sought after so I am not sure if a straight swap will be equal value but it may depend on how perfect you want Hopscotch's sticker to be.

Its certainly a set where you feel as though the people naming the ponies were clearly working in a different office/country than the people designing the ponies :P

Even after all this time, I sometimes struggle to get the right name to the right pony - especially Sunblossom - I normally call her Starflash :P

Half Notes is a much harder find...but the Flutters are more sought after. The price on puffys has certainly dropped a little from where they used to be but for a puffy Flutter not on own backing I think £15-18 sounds a good bet; so with the damage £10 sounds fair. As soon as they miss their backing and have damage they do drop rather dramatically in price.

Which version of Half Note is it? Aqua or purple eyes? They are not super hard to find I suppose so I don't think they will add significantly to the value of the puffy. You wont get people just wanting the pony bidding as it will go too high for them; and in turn the people who want the puffy will mostly already have the pony. If you want to sell the pony, its a nice addition to sell them together but I dont think combining them will necessarily increase the price you would get for them separately. The puffy should be £18-20

Pony Corral / Re: North American Exlusives?
« on: July 29, 2018, 02:37:46 AM »
I agree, unfortunately its not quite as simple as just identifying exclusives. There are so many of what we would think are North American exclusives that got random releases here and there outside NA. Australia and NZ are the biggest issue - they got so many releases from so many places that they almost prevent anything being NA exclusive. In addition different countries had random mail orders, club orders or even "end of line" sales that introduce unexpected ponies to different regions.

Don't work to the basis that you will need to have exclusives to trade with other exclusives. Especially when you are looking across generations. Not everyone collects every gen and therefore you may find people in Europe with G2s who are happy to trade for an equal value (rather than an equally exclusive) pony :)

They are your ponies; if you are forever going to have them in your collection and not be too worried about some continued deterioration then you shouldn't worry about it too much. Especially if you have a serious issue in dealing with them :P

However, for the sake of the ponies and your collection, I do think it would be worth trying to get them cleaned up. Rust left too long will stain heavier and eventually contribute to discolouration. Perhaps you could get a friend or family member to help you with the worst of it? And, if you cant, its worth focusing on what others have said there is nothing going on that can hurt you.

Good luck!
