I recently received some ponies and in the bunch was a very sad looking Baby Moondancer. Cancer all over the place! I felt bad for her and it kinda got me thinking...why not just go crazy and try some kind of new mixture of tried and true "fixes"? Well here are the results:
Baby Glory and Moondancer, for comparison:

I've never treated or even seen pony cancer before, so I'm not sure how it compares toother people's "cures". What do you guys think? Oh! And this is after a 24 hour period of treatment...

It was a mixture of peroxide, Borox, a splash of bleach and ordinary table salt! I first heated the peroxide in the nuke, added the dry stuff and the pony, then added the splash of bleach. Wasn't sure of fumes so the window was opened where I let it sit all night. I even put it near the window at nighttime, because I didn't want sunlight to react with the peroxide. It's pretty cold here in Canada and I wanted to see if it would work as a cold solution. A lot of people boil the ponies and I wanted to see if it would make a difference. I'm taking pictures at 24 hour intervals since it seems most treatments take weeks if not months to work.
Yeah...I'm a geek.

I was going to add something about taking over the world, Mr. Bond, muahaha... but it's after two a.m. - h'ray, insomnia :razz: - and I can't summon what feeble wit I possess. Oh well, next time. ;)

That's why I'm posting it! I love experimenting and figuring stuff out and the idea of noone being able to fix pony cancer bothers the heck outta me for some reason! Maybe it's because I have arthritis...I can't fix myself but maybe I can fix something that made me so happy as a child...

It always bothered me that cancer couldn't be "cured" too. I can't wait to see how she turns out after your experiment! Her symbols fared ok in her bath?

Absolutely no symbol fade whatsoever. That's one of the reasons I wanted to steer clear of the boiling thing...it often removes symbols too! If I'm correct another 24 hour period and she should be about done. Then I'm going to soak her a few days in normal vinegar (no bleach, thank you! Mixing bleach and vinegar releases chlorine gas and I don't feel like having my lungs bleed) and then after that a bath in pure distilled water to get out any residual chemicals. THEN, depending on whiteness factor, it'll be time to sunfade. I'm going to paint over her symbols with acrylic paint to guard against them fading. I think acrylic would be ok because I can just rinse it off afterward. That way there won't be any missed spots in between the gaps on her glory!

Question - why didn't you want the peroxide to react with sunlight? I haven't tried this method myself but I thought that sunlight accelerated the process?

That is simply amazing! I have to try this. I have a Trickles that's seriously spotty. I wonder how glitter symbols or colored plastic would react to this, if at all.

Yup, you're right, but I wanted to see the difference between sunlight and no sunlight. The head will be exposed to the same mixture, but with sunlight as the mitigating factor.

Sidebar - tea tree oil does nothing vs cancer, but does seem to beat up mold...that will be the next one as soon as I find me a moldy pony.

Epps heating peroxide? Not so sure that is super safe inside but glad you had the whole mixture by a window.

I took steps to protect myself. I have asthma, so I have to be extra careful with stuff anyway.

I wonder what it is about baby Moondancer? Anyway, thank for for sharing that! Very cool! I love it when people anthropomorphise things...it helps with creativity aand stirrs passion! I was the same way...she just had this pleading look about her!
The only difference between me and Dreamcrystal is that I'm insanely impatient and want everything NOW!! Lol! Call it a fault if you will, but if I can be effective AND fast, it's a bonus!
