Aw, not really one I'm looking to collect, but she's definitely a classic sweetie in the line.

Hah!  Weird but kinda cute.  Their super exaggerated proportions are kinda charming.  If I saw the purple one somewhere and not too expensive I might be tempted.

I really like brightly neon colored ponies, in the G1s they remind me of the fact that they're very much a product of the time period in which they were made (80s and early 90s and it's love of NEON), and anymore they just really seem bright and joyful (granted I'm not as sure which ponies would qualify now, I'm more of a G1 sort)!

So I would love to see some BRIGHT neon colored ponies!  Any generation, original or custom as long as things are bright bright NEON!

Here's my three 'neon' colored girls, Tootie Tails, Half Note, and Swinger:

Super cute, love that symbol, but knowing the usual pricetag I'll have to give her a pass, especially as she's not really on the 'want' list, even if she is cute.

Pretty cute I think, but too much going on for me to really want.

Would have loved her to bits when I was a kid though.

I think Mimic is pretty but severely overrated and I don't understand the hype.

Oh, wow, the fading on her makes her look really nice!  It gives her a very nice contrast with her hair and symbols.

She doesn't have a horn but all the Dance and Prance ponies were in that pose... (guess it was just easier to engineer one with that mechanism?  They were all earth ponies too... I think they're the only ones outside of unicorns Powder, Sky Flier, Coco Berry, and Star Hopper in that pose.  Though I don't know about Nirvanas...):

I've always like her, and in retrospect she's very delightfully '80s to me.  It cracks me up how silly she looks with all of her accessories though:

These are from my own childhood but I still have them:

Missing the nail polish and lipstick, long ago used up.

Nice and complete but all the elastic on things with it is shot.

I've remembered EXACTLY how I lost the soap dish and it drives me NUTS.  It went out in a box of barbie playsets sold at a yard sale, ERGH!

Same with the pull-along duckie here.  Oh well, the mobile is still adorable.

Nothing missing here though.  I used to cram this full of ponies to take to a friend's house.

The mechanism on this is very very broken, but you wouldn't know looking at it.

It amazes me how long the batteries on these things last.  I remember pulling it out of the attic when I was in college and it still worked like a charm (not storing it with the batteries in anymore though).

Personally I think all of my 'heard' looks very nice but I know only two resemble anything near mint (both are childhood ponies so your 'mint' mileage may vary).

I don't know how she survived being played with with her factory curl this intact.  Still has her comb but no ribbon.

Not RARE by any stretch, but her hair is so so smooth, sleek and shiny.  Not a speck or scratch on her.  Still have her VHS (still working), though unfortunately it didn't originally come with a sleeve (there was a paper insert in the package but not a proper cardboard sleeve, so far as I remember when I opened her up at the age of seven).

Ok I was ho-hum (nice symbol, decent but not outstanding colors, I'm not personally big on the G2s) but with THOSE that is stinkin' ADORABLE.  Goodness that is cute.

My first were a pair; So Soft Magic Star and Truly.  Magic Star still looks quite nice, her hair is very soft and her flocking looks good, but Truly is a bit uh... well, her flocking has seen better days.  I don't have the heart to deflock her though.  I still have their stands and stickers (and brushes, though not shown here).  They would have been a gift to me when I was about two.  I remember never being able to get them to stand up while playing with them without their stands:

My last I think was Baby Beachball.  After that the toys wern't easy to find in stores anymore and I was growing out of ponies for the time being.  I remember seeing G2s in my favorite local toystore, but they didn't appeal to me and I was into collecting Grand Champions at the time:

Introductions / Hello all from a longtime fan but quiet lurker.
« on: February 06, 2015, 11:46:10 AM »
Hi all!

I'm a rather quiet sort who mostly lurks, but I'm happy to introduce myself; I'm an artist and designer (though I work at the big orange box) living in the Pacific Northwest who's been a fan of MLP since I was a very small child of the 80s.  My first ponies were a gift to me when I was two in '86, two so-soft ponies, Truly and Magic Star, who've endured quite a lot of wear.  I still have all of my childhood heard, and while I'm not much of a collector per-se (I try to curb my habits lest I get overwhelmed), I have recently been very much bitten by the desire to customize, and I've been working on some mods I think are very delightful.  I'll have more to post on that matter fairly soon!

I'm a very nostalgic fan of G1; that was my childhood, and a big part of it.  G3s came out when I was in college, and I like their look, but to me if they're baity they're right what I'm looking for for my mods right now.  Sweet and charming, but without the burden of nostalgia.  I quite like G4, and I think it's been a really pleasant revitalization of the brand (though I have mixed feelings on some of the fallout thereof).  I'm just moving into posting from lurking here, this has been a wonderful resource to me in the past (understanding the quality of my childhood bunch of horses, and finding references of how to clean and protect them).  I adore toy restoration in many forms, and for me that is a lot of fun.

I keep an MLP blog https://www.tumblr.com/blog/mlpmemories where I've discussed and photographed my childhood herd, rambled on about toys and my relation to them, and where I post nice photos of the ponies I both keep and intend to modify.  I also have an Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/Featherwurm where I sell a variety of my work (nothing pony-related, presently, but my customs may come up there.)  I do have a website with my art on it, but it is not pony related and I do sometimes post work of a mature theme, so I'm not sure if it is appropriate for me to link it here.  I do like to occasionally draw ponies though (there's some of my work on my blog), and can sometimes be nudged to draw on request in that regard (G-rated, of course)!

Thank you all, I hope to share more ponies soon!
