Anyone Else Not Really Like The So Softs?
« on: September 03, 2016, 06:28:57 AM »
I know I'm a terrible person, but I just don't like them.  I hate how the flocking hides their colors and how they don't match their babies or the other ponies.  I would deflock all of them if I didn't know how hard it is to find them with nice flocking.

If anyone wanted to trade me a de-flocked Fifi for one with nice flocking, I would seriously consider it.  I HATE how she doesn't match her baby.

I don't like em either, so if I were to get a G1s I like and there's only a so soft version of it, i'm gonna have to look for a deflocking service...

They're not even the same species.

I like So Softs with good flocking.  They feel really nice in your hands and against the skin.  They're a nice sensory toy.

Though, I do like my Euro Wind Whistler over my So Soft version.  She's such a pretty shade of blue.

I'm not a fan of So Softs either, for similar reasons. I'd love to have a deflocked Twilight someday; she's such a beautiful shade of purple, it's a shame for it to hidden under that flocking!

There's a very specific condition I adore so softs. Past that condition point, I pass them on. do not like. and it's not as much as "rubs" but where they are, how large (moc can can have tiny rubs) and how overall plush and clean they look.

When yardsales with heavily played with ponies were my source I hated tinsel and flocking. always made them look so junky. a mass of crinkled tinsel, or a pony who caught the mange.

Collect ones in deflockable condition. there's people you can hire for ponies/money that'll do the dirty work for you. :) I think it's breyer600 that has a set deflocked and they look awesome.

I don't really like them either, because they look messy.

But then again, I've never had one in my hands (I don't believe they were ever released in The Netherlands, were they?), so I would probably love them if I got one. That being said, I'd still keep them apart from the rest of my collection because they look "off". :P

I'm not a fan of them either. I just like smooth bodied ponies with bright crisp colours. Just a personal preference. And since I'm not a completionist collector it's all good. If I come across a nice one in the wild I still buy them for my trade/swap pony stash.

I'm not a big fan either! I've never liked the feel of flocking.

Perfect SS ponies are soooo beautiful!  But so rare.

I honestly don't mind the deflocked ones because it's a satisfying project!  But I understand the general dislike.  I only had one second-hand growing up as a child, and I wasn't all that particularly attached to her.  And I have seen her deflocked and she's GORGEOUS.  So I miiiiiiight deflock her!  ;)

I am not a fan either.

I was collecting them but decided to stick to deflocking them instead. I was originally keeping a flocked and deflock of each. I put all my flocked girls on sale. I keep searching around for ponies with shabby flocking to deflock.

I didn't like them as a kid and I don't like them now.  They are a horribly executed set.  It might have been alright if Hasbro had used the kind of flocking that, for example, Sylvanian Families toys have: very short, very easy to see through, and able to be wiped clean of surface dirt.

But instead they PILED on thick flocking that gets matted down and dirty so easily!  And after the flocking is dirty and matted that's it, it's done, it will never "fluff up" again.  I had so many So-Softs go through my hands where their symbols weren't even visible due to their dirt, and no amount of shampooing and soaping fixed it.

The 2nd set of So-Softs had much better (shorter) flocking that was easier to clean, but even on them I don't like the concept.  Wish they'd all been sold as "normal" ponies.

I'm not a big fan of So Softs either. I only had two growing up, Best Wishes from the Birthday Party pack and SS Twilight that for some reason stayed at my grandma's house. The SS Twilight I had at my grandma's house disappeared at one point (I was going to take it home with me but it was gone.) I eventually replaced her when I got back in to collecting ponies but if it had been a different pony I would have gone after that one instead.

Nope, don't like em. I love my childhood Wind Whistler and Shady that were always smooth, would never buy the flocked versions. I have one deflocked Ribbon (she was already done when I bought her), and I like her that way. In my head as a child that's how she was anyway.

I personally love So Softs and certain issues, like okay flocking with yellowed glue, might not bother me depending on which pony it is. But if it was up to my boyfriend nothing with flocking would ever be in our place!

I'd be happy to have all the So Softs deflocked, since a lot of awesome bright colors were covered up, but I like their fuzzy versions too.

I prefer my so softs deflocked but I'm a sucker for one with perfect/near perfect flocking. I really disliked them until I got my Best Wishes and felt how soft the flocking was and saw how awesome it actually could look compared to others I've seen.
