My sister has a whole box of ponies like that which she picked up from carboot sales as a kid to start a "pony sanctuary". Unfortunately (though she still has them) they're all in storage and I can't find any pictures of them. I remember an Applejack with a missing nose, though...

Aw, poor pre-restore cupcake just wanted to get dressed up and listen to some Morrisey in a goth club! What dramatic eyeshadow.

The restoration is lovely, of course.

But it makes me wonder: does anyone ever get a slightly less grubby but still messed up pony, say with a haircut, and leave it as it is due to weird respect for a sort of original owner's artistic intent? I find myself wanting to do this sometimes.

I have a couple of ponies that came from a 'bait' lot  that were grubby. and i say Bait with the barest meaning cause these ponies other than some crimped hair were in mint condition body wise with the exception of sand digger and  MGR sparkler who have baaddd hair cuts

Wow, she's absolutely stunning!

The dirtiest lot I got came with a really, really ratty looking Mommy Sweet Celebrations - grubby, stinky, with a weird hair-cut and the saddest, thinnest tail I've ever seen. I'm still not quite sure what to do with her - she's clean now and smells lovely (again), but I have no clue how to rehair her.

This thread is doing wonders for my low self esteem with some of my ponies 8'D a good chunk of my childhood ponies have bad hair cuts, but their bodies are in close to perfect shape. I was still thinking I was the worst pony owner ever ;; now I feel a little better.

Something about before and after restore photos is really uplifting, too.

there are no photos that can really convey it, but i'm trying to sell a Sweet Stuff with the most awful plasticizer leak inside her body. i actually had to peel my finger off of her inside. and when i touched her cutie mark lightly to see if it was smudging (thought about making her into a custom since to my knowledge plasticizer leak is irreversible), it left a fingerprint. she may LOOK clean, but she's ugly on the inside

I think this SS Sundance is my worst.  I'm in the process of deflocking her, but it's taking awhile.  I got pretty much all the fuzz off her body, but the glue is still there.  (Since I'm pregnant, I'm definitely staying away from strong chemicals right now.)  Her head still has some fluff on it.  Still, she's already looking better.

I also got this poor girl in a lot recently, I *think* she got too close to a fire, and someone tried to hide it with just white out or something!

Reminds me of the time I found a burnt baby Pineapple in the bushes at elementary school...I think she's still in a drawer somewhere...I tried to paint her over as baby applejack but...she's a total burns victim I cried when I found her.

Oh man, I need to see if I can find a picture of this one Gingerbread I had . . . She was one big mass of discoloration and her hair was horrendous.
