The Most unique pony in my collection- the missing link?
« on: April 11, 2012, 09:48:46 AM »
Is this the missing link to the evolution of a White Windy?- The pride of my collection!

I am afraid to clean her up.... I nicknamed her "Wipe Away Windy"

Literally she is like a giant whiteboard. Her color just wipes off. She has no glitter left on her. Wish I could take a more detailed picture of her.

Could this be the missing link in the White Windy mystery- her symbol is still purple though. She still has all the "normal" hoof markings: HK, 83 Hasbro PAT PEND

I love this pony- I love all the rainbows for some reason- maybe because the first pony I remember owning was Skydancer?

What you think about her?

Odd...it almost looks like she's dyed.  O_o  Very pretty though.

I am so glad you posted this!  I have a Bright Eyes that looks exactly like that and the color just wipes off, like the color is leaching out of it.

She reminds me of this gal:

It's hard to tell, but I rubbed the color right off of her head and it exposed a lighter purple shade... I totally know what you mean.

Gosh that is the most purple Windy!!

So you mean if you wipe a tissue along her, you will come away with purple dye from her body?

I have a Windy like that. I got her in a bait lot (she's not bait) but I had to move her out of the bin because her purple was actually rubbing off on other ponies

I'll see if I can get a pic and add it here...

ETA: She's also really soft and her body caved in. I haven't bothered to correct it with hot water because I don't display her. It looks like the color from her symbols has smudged and migrated. I remember thinking how odd she was when I got her.

That's pretty cool actually.

Just a fun suggestion. You could wash half of her body and see what happens. If her symbol turns blue, mystery of White Windy, solved!

Next nosy question...have either of you popped her head off?

I know people "believe in white Windy" as she tends to be completely faded on the inside as well...so I wondered if the same colour leaking was going on inside the body too...

I think this would go a long way to explaining white Windy if so much of the "red" in her symbols and body is being removed...very cool find you guys!

I have TE Bright Eyes like that too. It's very odd, like she has a thin layer of factory paint on her, subtle but noticeable (specially because it has rubbed off of ear tips and such).

I have had Blossoms like that!  You go to scrub off their grime and take off all their dye too.  How weird!

I had an Argie Butterscotch like that, her body was almost sticky and most of her colour came off when i wiped her over!  This is a very cool piece of the white windy mystery ...

Are you going to clean her? It would be interesting if she does turn white when you clean her... Let us know if you do!

Oh, I have a Sealight like that. Her head is normal lavender, but the last time I washed her, she lost a noticeable amount of purple dye from her body. Her body was already lighter than her head when I bought her.

It seems like purple is the least stable dye? It's very prone to regrind, and this color loss happens as well. Makes me worried for what our purple ponies will look like in the future!

Wow thats something. I wonder why the dye is not staying in the pony? Perhaps they just took a bunch of white ones and tossed them in dye and well years later its not working out well?  Bad dye or something?
