Title: Minnesota Pony Meet 2012- HUGE success! Pictures added on p. 15
Post by: Aurora on January 26, 2012, 03:50:20 PM
Good times were had by all! Thanks to everyone who came and traded/bought/sold/played games. I haven't opened my Pinkie Pie Light Thingie yet, but I'm very excited for a chance to play with it!

(Typed long ago)
It's 2012! That means (appearantly) a new Arena, a time to test the Mayan's prediction, and time to plan for this year's MN Pony Meet!
We've had a request to move the meet to the same time as the Renaissance Festival, usually in September and October. I am open to that- early October sounds like a wonderful time for a Pony Meet, in time to buy myself a birthday present.
I really liked the Black Bear Crossings, though if someone has found a wonderful site during the last year we would love to hear about it. BBC is free, but I'm still willing to chip in some money for a site that costs a little bit of money.
So MN Pony peeps, come out of the woodwork!

What's a pony meet? It's a chance to get together with other pony collectors/customizers/lovers and talk about ponies! Last year our site was in Saint Paul next to the Como Zoo, which wasn't hard to find. There's a lot of trading, buying and selling, and playing games for prizes. I'm challenging everyone to bring 5 prizes to put on the prize table- they don't have to be anything amazing or overly valuable, and they don't have to be pony-related, either. We all have lots of interests!

I was actually searching to see if there would be one this year since I am in eastern ND right now!  Is it usually held in the cities?

Man, I've never been to a pony meet. If it somehow ends up between May and August, I'd really love to see one.

Hi it does not have to be in Septemer or october to be the same tiem as the ren fair that starts  Aug 18 so you can have it the 18th or the 25 and it is stillin Aug for  people in school.

Nessa, most of the people in MN are in the cities, so it makes sense to have it there. And I'm good with whatever date/month, it will probably be on a Saturday so it shouldn't affect school too much!
The end of October is bad for me, and the beginning of August is bad. So somewhere in that 2 1/2 month stretch, there has to be a weekend that works for most of us!
Shadowfax, last year was fun! And since I spent all my money at your table, I certainly remember you! LOL!
Syndnie, are you in MN for the summer? How long are you here? Otherwise, I know there are pony meets closer to Philly (Oh, man, you really live in Phillydelphia? How Ponyriffic!)

I'd love it.  We are in Sioux Falls, drive to the Cities several times a year.

If it's on a date I can make I will certainly be making a huge effort to go...I can do some other stuff in the cities too to make it a bigger trip.  I definitely can't do Aug. 18 due to a wedding.  What about labor day weekend?  Anyone up for that since it will be an extra day to do some stuff there if we aren't from around there?

I hope I will be able to go.  As long as my other group isn't doing anything and I can get off work then I am totally there.  I hope it isn't too deep in the cities or again I could get a ride with someone, because my fiance hates driving in the cities.  I know it is early, but I am just putting that out there.  I can't wait.

Hey MN pony people!!  I had a great time at last years meet and am looking forward to this years too!  I loved Black Bear Crossing and would be up for having it there again.  Hopefully we can all agree on a date and get it on the calendar early.  Aurora, I really enjoyed the contests and games last year and will start keeping my eye out for prizes for the prize table.  Everyone was so nice last year, I'd love to see you all again this year, plus others who couldn't make it to last years.  We really had a fun group of people and I look forward to seeing you all again!

I don't know if I've ever gone camping on Labor Day weekend! Haha! We ususally have a big camping trip the first weekend in August, and that is one of the few things that I will miss a pony meet for.

Labor day weekend is September 1,2, and 3. I'm ok with that if everyone else is- my hubby works at Lowe's so HE'S not going anywhere that weekend!
I would like to get the reservation in as early as possible- that room that we had last year was supposed to hold 40 people, but the seven tables full of ponies really filled the space up! But at least we know it's close to the doors, so we could play games outside if there's not enough room inside. And I know how to better display my sale ponies- now to get some cheap plastic shelves! There's plenty of room to go UP, just a limit on space to spread out!

If anyone notices anyone else on the board from MN or the surrounding states, feel free to direct them here to provide input- I really want this to work for lots of people!

Finally news on a pony meet in mn! I'm in the twin cities area so anywhere around there would work great, date doesn't matter. I can't wait to g. Someone will have to give me more info on it so I know what to expect because I have never been to one before :) I can't wait!!

I'll probably be moved to Florida by the time Minnesota has the next meet, but October would be an AWESOME time. With all the fall colors and how many parks we have around the cities it would be ideal. The Ren Fest would be fun but a little hard to put together, that could be a side event but I'd definitely hold the actual meet elsewhere. I would otherwise recommend the parks at Minnehaha Falls or one of the many places in the Baker Park area (Minnehaha is in St. Paul, and Baker Park is west of the cities past Plymouth).

I've personally been to many functions in both places and they're gorgeous. Best of luck you guys!

Oh, I will be in Minnesota from mid May to the end of August (I don't know the exact dates yet). But don't try to change things around on my account!
And yes, I am in Philly! It's great here. So very different from Minnesota. And right now, it's feeling like the middle of Spring :drunk:

Hi, PonySeeker! Pony meets are pretty stright-forward. Expect tables full of ponies either for sale or as a display (always ask, I've tried to buy people's collections before! LOL!) and a bunch of friendly people. I'm hoping we'll have lots of games at this year's meet and lots of prizes, too! And there are all types of ponies, from customs to custom bait, valuable and hard-to-find, and those common ones that are great for starting a collection. AND those friendly pony people know so much! If you want to know more about generation two or obscure accessories, it's a fun place to hear what other people know, what they think, and what they have that you can touch and see, sometimes for the first time!

I am getting really excited for this.  I really wanted to go to the national convention but I think I will have to wait yet another year because of it being so far away...our bank account would not be able a trip to Florida, the convention, Disneyworld and Universal Studios lol.  I know I would not be able to go to Florida without hitting up those parks too.

This would be the perfect way to go to a my very first pony meet and the Renaissance Fair.  I haven't missed the one in Colorado in 4 years so I am not planning on missing the one in MN now that I am here.  I also have not been to the twin cities in 6 years and I have been wanting to go back so bad!  Just so excited!  Not to mention the chance to buy some ponies in person!!!!!

Post by: Aurora on February 26, 2012, 10:10:16 AM
I'm getting pretty excited, too, though there is a lot of summer between now and September! It doesn't help to look out the window and not see snow- I keep thinking it looks like Spring, and have to remind myself that February does not equal Spring.

So I'm putting out the date of Saturday September 1 for everyone to discuss. I'll hunt down the form for the BBC (Oh, Arvin! I miss you!) and see if I can put it on hold- if the date doesn't work for most of us, we can always change it.
That should give our North Dakotan friends time to do other things in the cities and go to the RenFest. I'm not going to try to plan a pony day at the fest, since that would be a lot of things to distract me, and I'm already pretty darn distracted!
I'll let you know how that goes and get back to you with details asap. Pony Hugs!

I almost missed it last year due to car troubles! Learned a lot about what to do and not do- specifically, don't drive a car you are not familiar with for the first time. Thanks, Balto, for your patience! And thanks to Balto's neighbor for saving us!

I just filled out the form for the first of September, just to be sure we have a room reserved, even if it isn't on the optimal date.

Ooh totally coming! I'm usually at my cabin for labor day weekend, but it's only 45 minutes away from the cities so I can always come back for the day :P

I like the park idea, but we might want a Plan B indoors just in case the weather is gross. I think it hailed on labor day two or three years ago.
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!

The como park site is indoors, but doesn't have air conditioning. It wasn't bad, though. Last year it was hot, then it rained, then it was warm again. Never too stifling, just never really comfortable! The bummer part was that the rain happened while we were touring the zoo, and we got seperated in the storm, and then it was the only rain we got all fall, so my poor little garden suffered. But WE had fun! LOL!

I am truly enjoying picturing what "gross" weather looks like, though! I know what you mean, but c'mon, picture it with me! Sort of like "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," but less edible!

thanks labor day weekend would be great. It will be my first meet. I am also planning on going to the  fair in Orlando with my brother. I so have to start saving. It will be my first time there as well. I can bring some of my harder to find ponies as well if you like? Others might like to see them.

Hey, if it could happen anywhere, you know it would be in Minnesota :P I love the movie adaptation of  "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," by the way. The gummi bear/mustache obsessed monkey gets me every time!

I started to make a mini-travelling museum last year, with ponies that some collectors might not have seen, or some that maybe we haven't all had a chance to touch. It never got finished, so I didn't bring it, but the start of it had the roller-skate ponies, one of the ponies with curlers stuck to her head, one of the Soft Sleepy Newborns, the g3.5 baby, a g2 baby, and one of the first Spikes.

The only thing I would worry about if you are bringing expensive ponies is to be sure they aren't left alone- last year we didn't really leave the room until we were done, but you never know! The only time I've heard of something bad happening at a pony meet was when a kid wandered off with a Mountain Boy, and no one knew where it had gone. Everyone was horrified and suspicious until weeks later, when someone found it with their child's stuff.
I'm just saying to be careful- I don't want to scare anyone!

Duly noted :) My car is tiny but the trunk is huge, so I can always lock ponies in it if I want to leave them alone. Are we expected to bring our own tables?
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on February 28, 2012, 01:54:13 PM
There are tables there, I think there were 8 or 10 of them. Some people brought lots of stuff, and some brought just a few things, so if it comes down to it, some people can share tables. I put a lot of mine into purple tubs last year and they worked really well- fun to dig, and easy to price, since they were $1 tubs! I'm going to try doing something similar this year, so I don't really need to use a table. Maybe a set of those cheap snap-apart-together shelves would be good- less floor room for more ponies!

I just heard back from the site, and we have a different room from last year. According to the email, it has 6 6-foot tables, 2 white boards and a large window looking out over Lake Como. It's the Michael Donald Glass Community Room at Black Bear Crossings on Lake Como if anyone wants to look it up. It will probably be about the same size as the room we had last year.

One little thing to keep in mind about Black Bear Crossings is that we can't bring our own food into the building. There was an ice-cream window right across from us last year, and a nice little lunch counter upstairs with decent prices. It is also a good set-up for keeping food in your car and running out for a snack- pack some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chips, sit by the lake and eat them while dreaming of ponies- sounds good to me!

So where is Black Bear Crossing in regards to the zoo?  I'm familiar with the zoo, just not the area around it.  :)

I would love to get a table!  I've actually been wanting to unload quite a bit of my ponies, so I'll have a few bins to bring with.  ^-^

Is there going to be a fee for tables?
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on March 04, 2012, 01:56:38 PM
Nope, no fees for anyone. Maybe as we get closer and people get more organized with what they want to bring, we can figure out the tables a little bit better. I actually just started going through my budget ponies because I ended up with a bunch of ziploc baggies that I don't want to use for food, but will be perfect to keep their hair tidy! (Grrr, Tub Hair!)
Maybe as we get closer, we can also let people know what big things we have- I have some pieces of Paradise Estate that I've upgraded, and just don't have room to have 2 Paradise Estates! Then if someone is interested, we can bring the bigger pieces and just trade them at cars, rather than take up valuable table space with them! (That's my plan, at least!)
To get to the zoo from the conference place we walked down a bunch of sidewalk, across the road (pedestrian overpass), across a parking lot full of people going to weddings, and through/past the Conservatory. It was a nice walk, and I'm glad I was wearing shoes that I didn't hate! It was definitely far enough to drive, but when we tried that there was NOWHERE to park. We even tried to go to the shuttle parking, but it was taking much much longer to find that than to just go back, park where we started, and walk! I'm going to guess about a mile, but it really was a pleasant walk.
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: PonySeeker128 on March 04, 2012, 02:18:45 PM
Let me know if there's anything I can make or bring to the meet for food as well as anything to bring that's needed! I looked up the location and I'm not too far. Can you bring additional tables? If needed I have a few white tables that I could bring too!
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on March 04, 2012, 02:23:42 PM
Hm, I'm not sure if we can bring more tables! I think that would be ok, but we can't bring food. That's part of the deal for using the room for free- if we want food, we have to buy it from the BBC people. The rules of the site are 1. don't mess it up, leave it as you found it, 2. NO outside food 3. Happy thoughts, which you are required to write in a journal. None of them are a big deal, like I said before, if you think you will be hungry but don't want to buy food, you can pack a little lunch and nibble it in your car. Last year they had an ice cream stand right outside our door, which was mighty yummy, and the food counter serves sandwiches and salads and I think desserts. They have reasonable prices- if I remember right, sandwiches were about $4. I didn't actually buy any food, though, I was too busy having pony fun! But I was starving on the drive home! LOL!
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: PonySeeker128 on March 04, 2012, 02:42:08 PM
LOL what are happy thoughts recorded in a journal?!?!
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on March 04, 2012, 03:16:53 PM
I know, fun, right? There's a journal in each room, and anyone who uses the room is required to write something in the journal. It's not anything too deep, usually just the name of the group and how many people, maybe a little bit about what you used the room for. We put a pony sticker in the book last year, but we'll have a different room this time!

One of the "costs" of reserving the room are that it can only be for events or groups that provide a positive energy for the world around them. This place was totally created by Hippies, but hey, I love em! And as Arvin said last year, what's more positive than ponies?
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!

Ahaha hippies! What in minnesota doesn't have a hippie influence right? Well, let me know if you want me to bring those tables and anything else as well since I am close. I can get table clothes too if needed!

Well, I've always thought a map with our locations would be fun- I wanted to do it at last year's meet, but I just ran out of time. Other than that, I picture something similar to the Arena or Trading Post, just more MN oriented.
I haven't ever seen anything on a meet for Iowa or either of the Dakotas, though WI has a very nice meet every year. Maybe there's a way to make it a Midwest sort of site, so we can include those states?

Ya that would be great. Ya I do not think there are enough collectoers in ND to have a meet. That is why I looked to MN because I come up there every yr for the ren festival. It would be nice to be inluded. I cannot wait this year will be a blast for me. First yr at the fair and a pony meet.

I could certainly set things up to cover the midwest, and even do individual sections for each state :) There was a midwest collector's site a long time ago, but I guess that must be defunct now?

Oh oh oh... I could totally go to a MN meet!  I live in southern Manitoba, and we like to make a trip out in late Sept early Oct to the USA for shopping usually, so if this gets set around then, I'd be bugging to make it around those dates!!  Would you be doing sales tables and stuff?  I'm going to be reading all the pages soon, but I am very excited about this!

babystarz, I think I found the site you were talking about, it hasn't had any attention since 2008. I DID bump into something about a Midwestria meet, but don't have time right now to look for more info- pesky job.
I'm not sure if I made it sound like WI didn't need to be part of the site, I totally think they should. Where does "Midwest" end? Like on a map, is Missouri still Midwest?

sabathamk, hi! I think the date is set for the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, it seems to work out for most people- sorry to those it doesn't! But really, who needs family vacations? But I also think that when Babystarz gets the midwest site set up, it won't be too complicated to find other pony people or to make more region-central pony meets, which means northern MN could have a meet, and that would make it easier for you! For all of us!

I'll have to check with my hubby to see if we can arrange our fall trip around then instead of later in the year.  It will depend a little on harvesting times and whatnot... when the corn needs to come off the fields... but I think it could be doable!  I'm very excited about this being possible!!!

I was lucky to go to the pony fair in FL as it so close. I hope you can make it Labor day weekend love to meet you. Do you know if there are any pony meets close to the border in Canada? I live in Minot ND so close to the boarder.

rybett, how old is Charlie? (your son, right?) because the site is really close to the zoo, which is free to get into, so if they don't want to go shopping they can go zooing!

I love how many people are on here! What generations does everyone collect? I collect all of them, but right now I'm focusing on G4 because they are easiest to find. My favorite is G1, but I love the cartoon and the way the new ones have pulled so many people in.

How about you?

I think it depends on who you ask XD The Mason-Dixon line cuts through Missouri so it could be considered part of the midwest or the south. I suppose I'll have to look at what most people usually consider the "midwest" and go from there. We could always add more states later if collectors in those locations want to be included ^^

No I did not sell her I almost did with the flood but then fema came and helped me and my work helpd with money for my repairs so I stoped selling. I  would like to upgrade her though and maybe sell her in the future. She is missing several plugs and has a hair cut. I did sell a few and I will be looking to get them back but I have expaned my collection now. I am in the process of getting greek candel with egg in the package yeah!! I never thought I would get her. I also bought sea mist in package and I have sand doller. I also bought brazil sitting bowtie. I also have 4 of the Venezuela ponies and they are on there way to me in the mail, but I think I might sell one or two. I really only wanted the blue one but the prices on the other ones droped so I bought them instead. Now I finally have blue cotton candy.

who is all from north dakota I saw one or two? nessa16 is ani know of a few others but they stoped collecting and another that does not go to meets.

Are any of you good with digital pony art? As I said, I'm comfortable using Photoshop, but that's only with editing/colors/shapes/buttons. I'm no artist. Ok, I do make cool abstract things, but I can't draw figures like humans or ponies any better than your average third grader :P It would be great to have someone who could donate their time and talents to making a few pony graphics for the website :D Nothing too crazy, maybe 4 graphics maximum (unless you want to do more!)

If no one here is able, that's ok. I'll poke around the Pony Art forum. I just figured I should ask here first since I think people over there expect some form of compensation.

Hey babystarz, my digital art skills and program are less than stellar (see fantastic avatar  ) but I would be happy to give it a shot if you'd like me to. Or if someone here is a good colorist, I can at least provide lineart. I promise I can do more than just suspicious-looking cartoony ponies hehe!

Hi everyone!!  I'm excited about the pony meet again this year!  Last years was so much fun, I'm for sure going to come to this years!!  I love the idea of the website, babystarz, I can't wait to see it.  I'm less than computer savy, but if I can help with anything, let me know.  It would be fun to meet up with pony people that live close and trade/sell or just talk ponies.  Aurora, let me know what I can do to help with the meet.  I'm keeping my eyes open for prizes for the prize table.  Your games were fun last year, I wouldn't mind playing them again this year :)

Babystarz- awesome find about the person selling their ponies! Nicely done! And don't worry about the website, sometimes life and school get in the way. Pesky degrees.

Gusty, awww, thanks! I've been working on some more, and I'm still trying to find the gumption to make Pony Cranium (Ponyum?). It's good to know they went over well. I saw a game called Headbandz at the store, similar to the game we played with the names on cards, but you wear the card on your head. Maybe I could borrow my sister's funny hat collection for the day and we can do something similar...

ETA: I have the coolest idea for a game! Better bone up on your pony poses!

As far as the website goes, I'm dealing with some corrupted files in my software and I'm not sure when they will be fixed. The options I have now are thus: either wait to make the site until everything is fixed, or make a very simple hand-coded website now with the relevant dates and info for this meet as a place-holder :P

I've been mentioning the meet to other collectors in the Twin Cities area, and people are excited to come! A few won't be able to make it due to the holiday weekend but I think there will be a good turnout as long as people are aware of the meet!

I know I'm really looking forward to it, and I'll have a ton of baits and ok condition ponies to sell for cheap!

Rybett, the Como Zoo is in the Northwest portion of St. Paul, close to Roseville. I'm not really familiar with the hotels around there, but I know you should be able to find good accommodations that aren't too expensive. I would probably search for a hotel in Roseville first, I'm assuming those will be slightly cheaper than in St. Paul.

Post by: cloud_weaver on June 12, 2012, 02:42:06 PM
I'm 15 minutes from Como Zoo.  There are plenty of inexpensive motels in Roseville and Shoreview.  ^-^

I'm super excited - I should be able to go this year!!!  I'm bringing a bunch of my ponies to sell, trying to clear out the last bits of my collection that I'm thinning down.  Are we going to have tables as an option?  I forgot if I asked this or not. =P
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on June 12, 2012, 02:53:41 PM
Rybett, you might also check the Como Zoo website and see if any hotels will shuttle to/from the zoo- then you don't have to drive. Parking wasn't a problem at the Black Bear Crossings, but the zoo was awful! It's a lovely walk between the two, I'd guess maybe a mile? on paved paths and over a bridge, thought a little wooded area and a parking lot.

Last year we started about 10 and left around 3, (I may be remembering this wrong!) we also went to the zoo and got lost and very wet, but it was fun.

Balto, I'm sorry you won't be able to make it! I was all ready to pick you up, too! This time I was planning NOT TO TURN OFF THE CAR. No matter what. Labor day worked for most people, but it sounds like you'll be having Furry Fun!

Frenzy, what hours do you normally work? We can start the meet a little later if it will help you, but I think they want us out of the BBC by 5- again, just trying to remember off the top of my head! But if we're all still having a great time, we might move it into the parking lot/yard, which was really pleasant. We can turn it into a trunk sale!

I think I'm going to go see if I can hunt down the mini-site that we used last year- it's a little easier to navigate, and would give all those other people (the ones you've been finding!) somewhere to go for more info while the website is in construction.

Cloud_Weaver, yay! Yes, there will be tables, but if this many people actually make it to the meet, we're going to have to share! We'll make sure everyone gets space, even if we have to squish a little bit. There were about 10-12 tables in the room, and we did fine for space last year. I'll keep an eye out at yard sales for those cheap plastic shelves that break down and travel really well, those would be great for taking up as little space as possible.
This is so exciting to see everyone pulling together to make this a great meet- way to go, team!

How on earth did you guys get lost in Como Zoo???  :silly:  It's not really that big, especially compared to the the MN Zoo.  :)

LMK if you need help setting up and stuff.  Really, I'm not that far away.  Mind you, I will have a 4 week old baby with me (given that he comes on time), so I'll not have all hands on deck - but I will try to help out as much as I can.

I'm wondering - is there a table where you will be displaying certain ponies?  I have some that I was thinking of bringing to show to others (some customs by Darkhorse, some of the exclusive ponies and nirvanas), but I don't want to hold them the whole time.  How did you do it last year?  I suppose I could just put up a small display at the table I'm at.  (Oh, and sharing is just fine with me!  worse comes to worse, peeps can just dig through some rubbermaid bins. :) )
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on June 13, 2012, 02:25:00 PM
LOL! Don't judge us! Actually, we just got lost from each other, not really lost. We were trying to travel as a group, but we got seperated in a rainstorm. Sadly, none of that rain came and watered my garden!

At other pony meets, if someone has omething they want to display (like what you mentioned) they usually have part of their table as a display. The room isn't gigantic, so there wasn't really a problem with being too far away, and we did all of our in-the-room stuff before we went to the zoo, so we had everything packed up and safe by the time we left.
At the front of the room there was a big desk, and we used that to put prizes and some guessing games/custom contest on, hopefully that will work again for prizes. Speaking of which, I have started a little box for prizes, I hope everyone else is keeping it in mind! It doesn't have to be anything big, I have a couple sheets of stickers, a few McDonald's ponies, and a couple blind bags. Things that are fun to get, but nothing too extravagant. But the more prizes there are, the more fun it is to win games!

I am going to try to get there early this time- keep your hooves crossed!- and I will keep you in mind for any help! Hope that baby comes when he/she is supposed to!

So, I am going to have to mapquest this lol.  All the stuff we want to do in MN that weekend I think is at different ends of the cities.
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!
Post by: Aurora on June 14, 2012, 06:17:37 AM
Good news, nessa! The cities really aren't that huge, so it won't be a huge deal to go across town! And Balto, yup, at the zoo again. In a different room, but hopefully the same size room!

Cloudweaver, if you are looking for an adventure, you could wander over to the BLack Bear Crossings and check out the room (oh deer, I've forgotten which one, but it's in an earlier post somewhere one here!) and see what we're up against. Then you can let us know how many tables, if there are windows or other ways in, how close we are to the guy selling ice cream... all of which are very very important, especially the ice cream!

I thought it over and have decided I will be coming to the pony meet.  Can I be on your pickup list again Aurora?  The picnic is fun, but the pony meet only happens once a year and the chance to buy more ponies is just too much temptation to pass up.  I'm super excited and can't wait to see you all.

At the very least I'll have my newborn there.  My hubby may come with me, bringing our two other boys (2 yrs and 3 yrs), or they may all stay home.  We're on the fence at the moment as we don't know work schedules and such.

Hooray, Balto! I think you made the right choice!
Cloud_Weaver, it's the Michael Donald Room, and if you got a chance, pictures or at least an idea of the shape of the room would be neat! Not that it really matters, since we're sort of stuck where we are, and we'll roll with it no matter what, but sometimes it's nice to know what you'll be walking into. The BBC site online might have some information, too, and I think they had a picture, but a first-hand description sounds like more fun!
Hooray for prize table ponies! Last year I put some "gift certificates" for my table on the prize table- little $5 certificates, nothing big or fancy- but we didn't play games right off the bat. Shopping and ponies first, of course! I'll probably do the same thing this year, but maybe I'll make some games that are played as early as possible, so there can be prizes the whole time.

Oh man, don't change anything on my account! I usually get off around 4:30. My sister has caught the pony bug though, and was really interested in the meet when I told her about it, so if it works out she may be able to come and let me know if people are still hanging out afterwards!

Hey Aurora, my boyfriend might be interested in coming, but we're not 100% sure on it yet.  If he decides to come can would there be room in the car with you and your mom for him to come too?  I'm not bringing anything big with me, so that will save on space and we can help you carry your stuff.  Just thought I would ask.
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!

So far there will be lots of room- just me and mom, and as long as I know how many people there will be I can adjust how many ponies I want to drag along to sell. And help carrying them in would be amazing! LOL! My nephew may decide to come, I think we can jam 5 of us into the car for the relatively short drive from Shakopee to the zoo.

And just to prove that I've been doing something, I woke up the Proboards forum thingy again! http://mnponymeet.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=2012meet
I've started a few threads, but feel free to start more! Or just pop in and introduce yourself, let us know what you are looking for and what you are selling!

Balto, you mean like plushes, or those giant hard babies that aren't so soft at all? Which generation of plush? I've got lots of g3 plushes!

I'm looking for the G1 so soft ponies.  I'm only missing 11 of the 27 available.  G1 plushies would be awesome too.

I'm from NW Wisconsin so I may bring my wife and 4yo daughter down, probly hit the zoo as well, make a family trip out of it :)  We'll have a few ponies along, not enough to need a table tho.  I think I understand the date being the saturday of Labor Day weekend, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, So Soft! That's funny, I completely forgot what a so soft pony was for a little while there! All I could picture was plushes! I don't think I have any SS right now, but I'll keep an eye out!

Dragonfly, how exciting! And I have to admit, a little intimidating- like having the president at the pony meet! And I will definitely post that info on the first page- I'll do it right after this post. (unless something shiny wanders through!)

PonyAddictedDad, yay! That date is right, I'll be fixing the first page shortly (see above paragraph). I'm glad there will be another kid, ponies are so much more fun with children! I'm not sure what is happening with the WI pony meet, I'll see if I can find them somewhere. They might be close to you so you could go to TWO pony meets in one summer. Whee! The zoo is a good one, and free, which is always nice.

Ok, off to change the first post! Whoosh! Zoom!

Balto, I'm so glad you can make it to both! Hooray! And really, the only reason to have a job is to pay for more ponies, so a few Saturdays off is all good.

Ringlets, yay! I missed you last year! I can't wait to see those amazing totes of hard-to-find ponies!

How about 10? We can schedule it from 10 until 3, and if we want to stay longer we can. That gives us a window to start with, at least! What does everyone else think?

I just got my cousin-in-law's wedding invite in the mail and it's for that same day as our meet   I'm going to try and do a pop in at the beginning, I'd love to see everyone and possibly buy some ponies.

I'm so bummed.... :(

NOOO! Doesn't your cousin-in-law know that ponies come first? Also, cousin-in-law's wedding? Like, your husband's cousin?
Would it help if we started earlier, like 9 o'clock? I don't want to start too much earlier, some of us have long drives and I'm already leaving at 6 am. But if everyone else wants to start really early, I'm game!

Yeah, it's my husbands cousin.   LOL, I know!  I was so bummed when I realized the conflict.  My husband is being supportive, we may just come w/totes of ponies dressed in our wedding finery and stay as long as we can!  I don't want to put anyone out of their way with an earlier start time, but if everyone else wanted earlier, of course I'd be game too!  I had so much fun last year, I really don't want to miss this years :)

I'm good with starting at 9- Balto, I'll be picking you up (and still not turning off the car) an hour earlier! At least the three of us will be there, then!
Did you want me to dress in wedding finery too? I have a couple bridesmaid dresses that I can still squeeze into! Are either of you IN the wedding, or just attending? It's so much easier if you are just attending!

We are just attending :)  I wouldn't subject anyone to a bridesmaid dress unless they have to! LOL!
Thanks for making it earlier, that's so nice of you!  I will have to be extra organized, but I think we'll be able to stay a little bit w/the 9am start!  I was so bummed when I thought I was going to have to miss it.  Now I'm super excited again :) :) :)

Well, Gusty, it was a hardship. I mean, with all the fighting and squabbling here on this thread... LOL! I actually love my most current bridesmaid dresses, though I have one that looks like a Mother of the Bride Dress, which was horrid. Not that I can actually wear the pretty red one anywhere, but I like it! And living in the country, no one can see if I'm out wandering the yard with a red bridesmaid dress on. It's getting a little tight, though, so I either have to slim down a bit or stop wearing it. Sigh.

We'll make it work- it might be snuggly! This is a sort of rude question, I know, but is he huge? I just want to know if a car-sized car, that can normally fit 5 people about my size, will work. (I'm sure I just broke a rule of ettiquette, but I'd rather break that rule than not have everyone fit in the car!)

Hey, all! I'm thinking of listing a few ponies on ebay, and want to know if anyone here is interested first. I'd rather sell them at the meet, I don't want to ship them!

MIP Ponyville Celebrate Spring with Cheerilee & Rainbow Dash,
MIP Ponyville  Minty and Friends Christmas Tube
MIP Family Dollar Peachie Keen
MIP Family Dollar Misty Blue
MIP g3 Sweetie Belle Holiday Pony
MIP 2011 Comiccon exclusive pony- the Goth one with the see-through head (x2)
MIP g3.5 Shopping Day with Mom set, with Mom Rainbow Dash and baby, shopping cart with little fake bananas! (I would be thrilled to trade this for a MIP Family Convertible set with Mom Pinkie Pie and the car. THRILLED!!!!)
I haven't figured out a price yet for any of them, but if there's interest I'll hunt down the fair value and bring them to the meet. Otherwise, I need to get some of the extra pony clutter out of this room! Gah!

Also, there is a forum for the MN Pony meet going on right here- http://mnponymeet.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=2012meet . It isn't very busy right now, there are only 3 of us who've commented on anything. As we get closer to the meet and we are all trying to figure out what to bring, it should get busier. Stop in now and beat the rush!

I wasn't able to attend last year, and *chuckles at post on first page* I certainly haven't been able to move yet. It would be awesome to be able to attend this year though. I was also slightly nervous to attend something like this on my own, but after going to the Fair in Orlando I might have more courage to gather myself and meet more people.

Any sugestions? Also Is the room easy to find at the zoo? I am a little confused as to where it is? Is there a park next to the zoo?

ps please go to the sight an let me know what you are looking for or might be interested in buying I wil not have as much room as I thought I would like to only bring ponies people are interested in buying/ trading.

Bubbles, I put some suggestions on the proboards thingie. Lots of walks and stuff, because that's what my dog would want to do!
Yay, Nessa! I knew it would be ok, who can resist ponies? PONY POWER!
Dancing, it's not actually at the park. If you google-map "Black Bear Crossings" and choose the one in MN, not Washington State, it leads you right to it. The building is across the road from Como zoo, and it's a medium length (very pleasant) walk from the site to the zoo. The rooms aren't too hard to find, they are downstairs in a basement. The halls were a little creepy, but the rooms are lovely. I *think* we might be able to get people and boxes in through the outside doors, but someone needs to stand there and open/guard it. Honestly, once you've been inside and seen it, it's not confusing anymore. There's only one door in, and I'll see if it's ok to post a small sign near the elevator to point the way.
It's coming so quickly, I'd better get those games ready! Whee!

Hi!

I checked the road construction map and saw that there is work being done by the 239 exit on 94.  Is this still a good route to take?

Also just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone planning on going to the Ren Faire in Shakopee.  Friends have told me that the expanding quarry is forcing some parking changes, so if you don't want to walk too far it is best to get there early. :)
Title: Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- September 1, 2012! At the Zoo Again! Yay!
Post by: Aurora on August 23, 2012, 05:56:28 AM
Seaponey, bummer about your plans falling through, but hooray that you'll be able to come! And Ringlets, I don't live up in the cities, so I don't know about that exit- anyone else? But maybe print off an alternate route, just in case.

So I'm working out what to bring, and trying to figure out if anyone needs any g3 buildings, ponyville buildings, or pieces of paradise estate. They are all the big pieces- walls, ceiling, base for the pool. Bubbles brought me a new one last year, and I've been switching out pieces. None of these are the "good" ones, but if you are missing a roof, this would be a nice place to get one until the perfect one comes to you! I'm willing to go cheap, too!
I know I have the g3 Dance Studio and probably one of each of the smaller playsets- the salon, boutique, and such. I have an extra of Ponyville's gumball house... I'll have to actually look and see which ones I have extras of- I'll list them here later today.
I'm bringing a box of prizes, and hopefully everyone else will bring something, too. I know at past meets people have just offered a cheaper pony of choice off of their table, which is always fun! I've gotten some great ponies that way!

Remember that the site doesn't allow outside food or beverages in the room. They sell sandwiches and salads, and I'm sure that the ice cream "shop" will be open again, too. They also sell bottled drinks, but I don't think they have pop- last year I didn't actually buy the drinks, but Mom came back with a blue drink and a red and gave me my choice. I think it was Propel? They probably also have bottled water, but I might "sneak" in a bottle of Diet Mountain Dew for myself- you wouldn't like me without caffeine! (Don't worry, I'll spend money at the cafe, too.) But if you are worried about feeding yourself or anyone with you and don't want to buy food, the parking lot is really close and you can leave a cooler out there.

A little over a week to go! I'm sorting ponies into their proper price boxes- I've got a 50 cent box this year, so bring your quarters!

Ahhhh Only a week left!  I will be busy with homework and pricing sale items this weekend.  I just upgraded my Baby Bonnet School of Dance but I don't know if it will come in the mail in time to switch out stuff from my collection to sell.  Same with a G1 Baby Carrying Case.  I am interested in G3 playsets...have to look at my wantlist as I can never remember the names.  Are they with accessories or just the buildings?  I had plans for prizes a long time ago but now I can't remember lol.  Go figure.  I will have to look at that.  Anyone interested in any specific G4 items they can't find in their area?  I know I will be looking for Wave 2 and Wave 3 blindbags and the plushies from Walmart and Target.  I have an extra G4 Calendar and Walmart posters if there is interest as well as some extra trading cards.  EEEEEEKKKK so excited, can barely contain myself!

Can we do a little of a roll call? I know Bubbles has been hunting for a head count (thanks, Bubbs!) (tee-hee, Bubbs!).

I am planning on being there, as is Mom (Rosalie, Or Plush Mommy Surprise, whatever you want to call her) and I think my nephew James, but he is currently undecided.

She could also look at the hard to find things people are not selling and play the games. am I right?

Awesome! Facebook Page! Thank you for doing the technologicky stuff- I love to plan, but doing all the computery things isn't really my thing.

And Scarletkitty, YES! You should come even if you don't plan on buying or selling or trading. There will be games with prizes, and at last year's WI pony meet, I started with NO money and ended up making enough in sales to buy the giant Frilly Frocks that I really really wanted! So you never know what will happen, and if nothing else you'll get to meet pony people and talk about ponies!

I will be there for sure for a bit (I have a wedding to go to that day).  I'm starting to organize my sales for the meet.  Is anyone interested in a G1 Show stable w/some accessories and the G1 Nursery w/accessories?  I don't want to lug them if no one is interested.  PM me or let me know here in this thread.  I will also have a bunch of G1's, G3's, Fakies, and misc accessories/pony wear to sell or trade!  I can't wait!  So much fun last year!! :)

Is anyone interested in a G1 Show stable w/some accessories and the G1 Nursery w/accessories?

Depending on which nursery it is (pink shelf or blue shelf) I may be interested and which accessories and if you are willing to sell them separately if it is not the nursery I need.  I want both versions and I have the one with the blue shelf and want the one with the pink shelf.  I also have a few of the accessories in my wantlist that I am after.

Anyone going to have cards to trade?  I have a bunch of doubles I need to trade or sell.

I will have cards for trade/sale.

Hi Nessa.  It's the Nursery w/the pink shelf that I have.  I'll bring it with and you can check it out.  I'm not asking much for it, I want to get rid of it.  : )

If Nessa doesn't buy the nursery I would totally buy it.  How much you asking for it?

Also trading cards and the chance for posters sounds awesome.

Oh Yay!  What accessories do you have for it?  I am seeking the following: pink bowl, blue mirror, pink swing canopy

I am betting you may not have the mirror or bowl because I think that came with the blue shelved nursery but if you do have them, great!

Has anyone found the Wave 3 blindbag ponies?  I am hoping to find them on this trip whether it is at the meet or in stores to/from.  I have seen nothing but Wave 4 here and only Walmart and Kmart here has blindbags.  Kmart is on wave 1 still.

I didn't even know there was two different versions of the nursery.  I thought there was only one type.  I won't step between you and your collection.  I hope I can find a nursery someday.  I always thought it was a cute playset.

Ok- I'm asking $15 for the nursery including the accessories.  I have the big blue & white checkered bow on top of the nursery, blue bath tub, pink dresser, white cradle, pink playpen, pink swing awning & pink swing, blue mirror.  I'm asking $10 for the stable & accessories which include 7 fences, 3 troughs, 2 sadles, 2 trophies, 3 flags, 3 plastic ribbons, bed, pony weather vane, plus stickers that need to be re-glued.  it has a door that doesn't stay on and some of the accessories need gluing, but it's a fun set.

Also remember to bring some singles (as in $1 bills) if you can, I will have some, but they're great for buying items that are not even $5, $10, $20 ect. amounts :)  Just something I remember from last year!

Well, I've got ALOT to get ready before Saturday, so off I go to my table filled w/ponies :) :) :)  Can't wait to see you all!

I've got the pieces for the game, I just have to put it together. I am also having a mini-crisis with school, but I'll get that figured out by Friday, so I can spend all day trying to put together everything for the pony meet! I'll be bringing some bargain ponies, and some g3 buildings. I have a few g1 buildings, I'll bring those too- they aren't the big ones.
Was anyone interested in bits and pieces of Paradise Estate? I have walls and floors and roofs, and I'm willing to let them go super-cheap (trade for easy-to-find ponies?). They aren't in the best shape- I'll see what I can reasonably fit in the car. Balto, how much are you planning on bringing? I think it will be just me and Mom, and we're going to try to be at your house by 8 am. (I think... I hope!) I'll pm you now.
Oh my, this is happening so fast! I'm so excited to see you all!

I have a few of the very common g2's, (Ivy, Moonshadow) but no internationals. The G2's aren't in great shape, either- good for customizing!

Good point about the dollar amounts, Gusty! I know I will have some stuff for 50 cents, and I'm going to try to bring enough change for that, at least. I've just been putting stuff in boxes, so it's not all ponies, but it's all fun!

Hey, does anyone have any interest in Quint #2? I keep using it as an example for Mom, who has bunches of little toys that are just little and silly to put on ebay, and telling her she should bring a box of random toys to sell. So if someone here actually wants Quint #2, that would prove my point nicely! LOL!

I have been doing the same...putting things in price point boxes.  Only things that aren't in them are a few rarer things that are more expensive.  I am not interested in Quints but would totally love to see what your mom has.  I have a bunch of random stuff in my sales stuff, most of it isn't even pony related but is collector related like SSC, Care Bears, etc.  I think anything toy collectible especially vintage is fair game.

I feel so behind!  I've been away for the padt month or so focusing on the new baby (3 1/2 weeks old already!) and I just barely remembered the meet is tomorrow!

I'll be pulling out ponies today and trying to get them priced and ready to go.  I'll be bringing the remainder of my TE collection, a handful of G1's and G4's (going to let my Star Swirl go most likely), and a bunch of G3's (loose & MIB).  Is anyone interested in Ponyville ponies (loose and/or MIB)?  I've also got a Pinkie Pie Balloon House w/bonus ponies that I'm thinking of bringing over...

As per being paid in paypal, I don't mind at all - the only thing being that I'd want to make sure payments were 'gifts' so that paypal didn't take fees since we were dealing in person.  ^_^

Also, what time are people getting there to set up, and do we need to bring our own tables?  I know the fair starts at 9am, does that mean setup is at 9, or do we need to get there sooner?

*ETA*  Nessa - what internationals are you looking for?  I was thinking of bringing my Spanish Whizzer to find a home for, but I am on the fence.

Okay, more questions!  Sorry!

How are people putting the prices on your ponies?  (aside from the price point box)  I was thinking putting stickers under their hooves, but I don't want to put stickers on the body for fear of sticky residue.  :/

Also, is there interest in custom ponies?  I've got a few (not made by me) that I might be willing to let go of. ^_^

Lastly, does anyone collect Glo Worms...???  I've got four or five w/sleeping bags that I could throw in the pony box.

My ponies that are not in boxes are in baggies with stuff written on the baggie.  You could use masking tape.  That comes off easily without a residue if it is not on too long.

Also, is there interest in custom ponies?  I've got a few (not made by me) that I might be willing to let go of.

I might be if they are Sugarberry customs or other Hasbro inspired ones.

Oh, the baggies are a good idea!  I'll have to see if I've got enough around here...  I might just start tying prices around their necks too if I can find my hole puncher and some cardstock.

I'll bring the Glo Worms if I can get them away from my son - he really likes to play with them.  =P

P.S.  Nessa - you are looking for Berenstain bear books?  I think I've got a bunch that are just sitting here...are you picky about condition?  They've all been read through by my boys at some point or another.  :P

I am also going to bring my MOC mimic for people to see. I am out of room as I am traveling with friend and could only bring one suitcase full of ponies to trade/sell. If I know what others want maybe next year I can bring others for people to see.

I can take paypal as well just as a gift like others.

Hi, guys! I will probably have 4 or 5 copy-paper boxes with ponies, some just "price-pointed," and some marked. I've been either putting them in bags or putting stickers on the ponies. I'll pull the stickers off when I get home, so there shouldn't be a problem with residue. The residue usually happens when the sticker is there for a long time- like those permanent garage sale boxes some people have in their basement, or when the sticker gets hot and sort of melts onto the pony. Hopefully we won't have that problem tomorrow!

I don't remember who was asking about ways for their friends to amuse themselves, but the State Fair is happening this weekend, and the lake next to the building we are in also rents boats. Just thought I'd mention it, in case they were still looking for fun.

I'm planning on getting there at 9. It looks like the cafe and building open at 8, so if you want to get there earlier, cool. There's not really an official set-up, take-down time- just whenever you get there, set up and try to save space for others.

If you want to bring a card table, that would probably be ok. There are tables in the room, and last year we had enough space. There seem to be more people coming this year, so we might be squeezing a little, but we can make it work.

All right- got a few more games to work on, then I'm packing the car! Whee!

I have a lot more than I thought I did!  I hope I'm able to sort through everything.  Is anyone looking for Ponyvilles...?  Got a *TON*!!!

I am looking for Bay Breeze in ponyville form. She's so cute, and I consider her a MN pony, since she was the exclusive for "our" MLP Fair.

Hey, if anyone has lots of dry-erase markers, or just any, will you please bring them? There's a dry-erase board in the room, and I have a few markers, but not many, and I'm not sure how good they are. They'll do in a pinch, but someone out there has to have some!

Oh, and a reminder- they don't want anything taped to tables or walls- post-it-notes are fine, just not tape. They specifically say no masking tape! Sorry I didn't bring this up sooner, but I have faith that we can work around this!

I just put on some sticker dots on the bellies of ponies or on hooves.  It should be fine if it's only on there for a day.  I'm getting there maybe a couple mins before 9, but not too early.  Can't wait to see you all tomorrow!!

I have a lot more to get rid of then I thought I did.  I don't think I'll have time to price it all individually, so I'll just have to try and sort them into the 'boxes' idea.  ^_^

I'm not going to be able to stay all afternoon I'm afraid, I was just told that my husband's getting called into work early - he's got to leave at noon so I'm going to only make it for the morning.  :(

I haven't had time to do much pricing either.  I have one bait box that will be free (I don't tend to make customs, so please take them to a new reincarnation!).  The rest are listed by year and "ID tag" on a tradelist.  Most prices are just suggestions and will be negotiable or trade-able.  I'll have some non-pony stuff along, but I'll wait to see if anyone is interested before unloading them from the car.

Off to pack the car!  If there is room I'll try to bring some of my hard to finds too.

Can't wait!  :frolic:

Seaponey- That's right! Green shirt! I've already started thinking about games for next year- and contemplating a new location. I just don't want to deal with the money thing again, I would rather have an up-front fee. Since it's never going to rain again, we could do a pavilion in a park. I was thinking somewhere in the southern half of the cities- near Shakopee, so the people coming for the Renaissance don't have as much craziness. I would love somewhere with more space, too, so we can have a whole table dedicated to puzzles and games and sitting around and talking- a coffe-shop table!

My favorite part, other than getting to buy and sell some ponies and help my poor paradise estate find a new home (thanks, Balto!) was after the initial buying and selling had ended and we all had time to just sit around and sift through magnets, chatting and getting to know one another. I would like to find a site that is condusive to that- where everyone can have their own table and no one has to share (not that we aren't all great sharers, I'm not worried about that).

Now we have a little while to find that space! GO!

Did everyone think this weekend worked out ok? Was there anyone who couldn't come specifically because it was Labor Day, or was it because it was a work weekend or a wedding weekend or something? Because I really liked this- we've never really done anything awesome for Labor Day, so it's just another weekend to me. But the Fest is open an extra day, so the people coming for that would have an extra day.

What else could we do differently to make it a better experience? This was an awesome day, the best we've had in our long history of MN pony meets (three years!), how can we make next year even better?

And if anyone wants the master list of the ponies on the crossword, let me know! I'll email it to you, or I suppose I could post it here. Either way! Or if you want your own copy to print and do at work...

My Dad had to go in for pacemaker surgery on Thursday. :( He's feeling much better! :) Yay! :cheer: Now hopefully he'll stick to the doctor's advice this time (as not following it was what caused him to need the pacemaker in the first place). :lookround:

This meant no state fair for friend and her mom Wednesday, as I wanted to make sure the car was here for taking him to the hospital early Thursday morning. So, friend's mom insisted going to the state fair yesterday and not go to the pony meet at all. :( So instead of going like I said we would, we missed it - again!

The state fair was fun though - we ran into a few bronies. (Did you know there's a monthly meet at MOA? I didn't! O_o) I won some frogs in the Midway, had some flavored cotton candy, and took many pictures of horsies in the stable (but most of them were facing the back of their stalls, so it's mostly pony butts. XD )

Almost made up for missing the meet - but not quite. ;P

Aurora, are you planning on the same place for next year? *head tilt* :)

We bumped into some... issues with this site. It's a beautiful place, the people are really friendly, and it's easy to find and park at. But we discovered this year that if you do any sales, they would like you to donate 20% of the proceeds to the site. In the end, we decided to donate $5 each, and if we had done most of our "sales" as "trades," we wouldn't have owed them even that much. It's also a fairly small space, but we made it work, and it's quite warm, the windows don't open. So I'm going to look into other sites, not quite as close to the State Fair but probably closer to the Renaissance Festival.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but glad to hear that he's ok, and that it can be prevented, at least a little bit. And congrats on your frogs and cotton candy, and of course your horse butts!

Pictures will be coming- it's been a long weekend!

I would have loved to be there this year too, but we went to the Renaissance Festival that day and then drove to see family for the long weekend.  I hope everybody had fun and maybe next year I will be able to attend.

I had a great time and managed to make some decent purchases and trades.  Next time can I suggest a place that lets us bring our own food and drinks so we can bring snacks to share.  Once I ate I felt wonderful and really enjoyed my nap on the way home.  I loved seeing all of you and am glad to hear you all had a wonderful time.  I can't wait for next year and hopefully I will have more wonderful things to sell.  Now to clean my new toys and get my house cleaned up.

Really? My hubby and I were at the MOA weekend of August 17th for the Renaissance Festival and we saw a bunch of bronies there as well :) was pretty cool to see, I don't usually see anyone around my hometown

Hey, all! I know it's taken me a long time, but I'm finally getting the pictures onto photobucket. I've also been thinking, and I don't spend enough time messing around on Facebook, but can we make a group of MN Pony People? I assume we can, since there are groups for everything else. That way we have somewhere that we can chat about dates, find each other, set up trades or sales, or even set up mini-meets throughout the state. I know I think it would be fun to meet a few Pony Peeps every few months- sort of a Southern MN Pony Meet, but on the tiny scale.

Any thoughts? Anyone willing to make such a crazy thing?

And here's the pictures! The link should be open to everyone, but here's a few that I really like.

I really wish we would have been able to travel that weekend... but man, super busy on the farm right now!  Hubby has been in a full half hour later than usual (or more... sigh).  Maybe next one... I so want to go south again for a few days!  A pony meet up would have been awesome!  Perhaps someday.  Glad everyone had a great time!  Love the pics!

Yes! More pictures!

I started looking for places to have this next year, and I've come up with a few options. Is anyone opposed to a tiny fee, if we have to rent somewhere? It will probably be about a $5 charge, though I'm still looking for somewhere free!
