I want one (I wanted the NES one, too) but based on the Nintendo distribution model, I doubt I'll be getting one...

I actually collect all of the things listed above - sort of.  :). I collec American girl and Sylvanians.  I would use the Target brand (Our generation/Lil' Woodzeez) interchangeably with their more expensive counterparts.

But I have se them with other toys, too.  :)

Pony Corral / Re: Anybody left that grew up with G1 ponies?

I had a few.  :)  Ponies weren't really my thing but I managed to snag a few.

My older sister had Glory, who lived pristinely on her bookshelves until the day she donated her.  I'm still kicking myself for not asking to take her, but I wasn't into ponies at the time.  However, I still have her sticker.

I, on the other hand, had SS Windwhistler as a Christmas present when I was four (and promptly lost at the mall not long after.)  I also recieved Raincurl when I was six; still have her.  Finally, at some point in childhood, I received Sundance secondhand but I don't remember when this was.  Probably when I was ten or eleven.

If I'm not mistaken, it is still $19.99 for the Bl-Ray at Target (unless they forgot to take down their sales tag.)

Struck me as odd.

Pony Corral / Re: Poll: Who's your favorite male G1 pony?
« on: June 15, 2017, 08:54:46 PM »
Tux is my favorite of the g1 adult boy toys.
Tex is my favorite of the G1 boys in the cartoon series (Sonambula)
Baby Leaper is my favorite of the baby boys.

:)

This is not including Mountain Boys though.

Off Topic / What else do you collect?

I think I put this in the right place.  :)

While I love my pony collection, I collect a host of other things.  Right now, I've moved away from ponies and have been focusing on my other collections, including:

American Girl
Sylvanian/Calico Critters
Disney

But I also collect theatre memorabilia (playbills and such,) and anything else that I find interesting.

So...  what do you collect?  :)

Pony Corral / Re: Which Ponies Would You Upgrade?
« on: June 14, 2017, 05:01:15 PM »
Hmm.

I, too, tend to keep the first ponies I get my hands on.  However, if a nicer pony falls upon my lap, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth - so to speak.  :D

That said, I probably wouldn't mind an upgrade to my Mainsail, my Tornado and some of my twins.

I save my coins up and use credit cards with rewards.
I also use sign up for any store reward cards (Plenti, Sephora and AMC are big ones for me.)

Additionally, if you have a smartphone, I highly recommend both shopkick and Ibotta.

Shopkick gives you points for walking in to stores, scanning barcodes and buying certain products.  Two of these are free and they add up to gift cards for places like Target.

Ibotta offers small rebates (anywhere from 25 cents to 5 dollars) for purchases from a bunch of different stores including Target, Costco and Walgreens.  You have to send them photos of your receipt but the money seems to add up quickly.  At $20, you can bump the money into a PayPal or Venmo account.

Saw it this morning.

Such a fun superhero movie and, IMHO, the best DC movie (not counting the old, Christopher Reeve Superman films.)  :)

The Dollhouse / Re: PC/Info older AG Samantha Doll
« on: June 08, 2017, 09:07:39 PM »
Thats good to know! My mom got me samantha because she looked like me, and got molly for my sister because she looked like her I guess? (i think it was the braids xD)

Instead of getting us the actual modern dolls that were meant to look like the child xD (probably would have been cheaper too.. but she makes some weird choices, oh well haha. THANKS for all the help! Its cool finding out all this info on her!

I remember shortly after I got her I would look through the catalogs that would come each month or so(so again were thinking late 90s/early 00s), and they came out with these little shadowbox/dollhouses? (they didnt actually have people) they just sold rooms and furniture that were meant to go in box style rooms, does anyone happen to know what i'm talking about and what those were called? xD I was SOOO into those but never got any (I didnt want to ask my parents for something like that lol)
Now that im old xD I thought it might be cool to try and track some of those things down, I dont think AG sells them anymore.

I was such a strang kid, I HATED barbies and dolls, but LOVED dollhouses lol

I know AG had the Illumarooms in 2000-ish, but that would be a little later than this period.  They were little shadowbox like rooms that lit up:

And, yes about $25-$30 for a nude Samantha sounds about right.

Anyone watching this besides me?

I've only watched the 1st episode for now, with one still sitting on TiVo.  I'm mildly invested, especially since my two summer shows (Galavant and Haven) were both cancelled.

Anyone have any thoughts?  :)

Pokeyonekenobie is probably right about how long the discount will last. :) I was also expecting a higher release week discount.

Ponyfan

I think Disney's prices may have just gone up.
I was eyeing the Blu-Ray release today @ Target, but I'm trying to wait.

Pony Corral / Re: should Hasbro be capitalizing on nostalgia?

I would love some of the old toys to come back.  Honestly, the retro Strawberry Shortcakes are awesome even when sold with the new dolls.  Something like that for ponies would be incredible.

Funny thing is the retro Strawberry Shortcake dolls actually did better than the new style dolls. At this year's toy fair there was no sign of any new dolls in the new style (and sadly it seems the Sweet and Sour Grape Sisters were dropped) but there were a few new retro style characters.

I was actually going to bring this up.  The original Strawberry Shortcake dolls sold on the toys and less on the characters, IMHO.  Adults who had them as children are roughly the same age as those who had G1 ponies (my older sister had both an original SSC doll and Glory.)  They'd remember having the dolls now, just like they'd recall having ponies.

The retro SSC dolls seem to sell well, at about $10 a piece.  They are well made and beautifully packaged.  They don't seem to suffer at all for the fact that you can easily get the originals on eBay for about the same price.

I think Hasbro could benefit from doing something similar.  A small subset of G1-esque ponies, maybe a playset or two (like the Showstable) and see how it goes.  I honestly think people would pay for it, and not just the G1 collectors out there.
