MLP Nirvana / Re: Hair match for Italy starflower
« on: April 29, 2016, 12:43:49 AM »
Yeah lol   Once I've got the hair together.  It may take me a while as I like to do it using a needle and thread but I find this takes ages and lots of concentration so it will probably be an ongoing project.  That said I have just ordered a proper dolly hair needle because so far I've been struggling with a short darning needle which isn't ideal.

But yes I thought too that she deserves it  xx

Oh and thanks very much pkw, the poor girl's hair seems to have gone a very funny colour so I would never have even guessed the dusty rose!

Pony Corral / Snowflake's symbols
« on: April 28, 2016, 07:36:52 AM »
I'm just full of questions today :)

I have a really nice snowflake her only problem being her symbols have all rubbed.  You can still see the outline of her snowflake's so I was thinking it might not be too difficult to restore them.

What I can't figure out is if her symbols are silver glitter or just silver metallic (or a bit of both)?

Thanks :)

Customs / ISO vintage pony hair
« on: April 28, 2016, 07:27:58 AM »
Hi all,

I am looking for any spare tails anyone may have lying around. I want to use the hair for some rehairs and would prefer to use vintage if possible.  Do people keep these from baits when doing customs?

I need :

Pink sugar/tea rose x4  (cotton candy /snuzzle etc colour)
Virgin snow x 2 (minty/powder etc colour)
Wisteria x 2 (bluebelle/blossom etc)

Drop me a pm if you can help

Thanks  :)

Pony Corral / Birthday cake!
« on: April 18, 2016, 01:48:05 PM »
I just wanted to share.  My very good friend's wonderful girlfriend made me this....

The cake is fab enough but she even went to the trouble of making a persona pony, the purple because I love purple, the blue and white represents my Scottish and Greek connections (complete with the blue Greek evil eye) and the symbol is comprised of the initials of my loved ones.  Very sweet of her.

But it gets better...when I cut into it...(which I really didn't want to!)...

Oh my rainbow cake :rainbow:

Best cake ever  :newpony:

Also as it is huge please all feel free to take a piece

Awww very cute, I love lofty.

Can I ask, did you use sharpie's for the symbols?  Do lots of people do this as I haven't seen or heard of it before and I am thinking they must be easier to control than paint?  :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / 80's troll doll
« on: April 16, 2016, 10:06:16 AM »
Hi folks,

Does anyone know anything about/interested in trolls (the toy kind not the Internet kind!).

I picked one up at a car boot sale today.  It says DAM 1986 on it's foot, I figured if people collect G1 ponies there must be people interested in trolls.

This one is wearing a white top with a blue and white striped skirt.

I know nothing about them so any info appreciated.

(Sorry meant to post this in toys general not sales)

Pony Corral / Re: A question about price checks
« on: April 08, 2016, 12:26:52 PM »
Thanks all for taking the time to give a bit of a wider perspective... think I feel better  :)

There are things I had not considered such as sellers fees and the currency conversion often messes with my head so thanks Sugarberry you answer has put that into a bit more perspective for me.

One thing I do agree with wholeheartedly is that the sellers here are generally fantastic (Tak I believe I bought from you a few ponies for very reasonable prices that I had been looking for here for ages, the same goes for Shelti who is great  ;)) I guess I just wish there were more in the UK!

I am also kind of glad that other people feel the same way, I guess maybe the most evil of all is those darn shipping costs!!

Oh and yeah...I keep a spreadsheet...is that weird   Mostly as a catalogue of my collection but yeah I like to know what I have paid out too.  I'm not too concerned about making any profit but I guess everyone would like to think that you are not blindly and stupidly paying a ridiculous price for something that is not worth it, even if that's not true.  I do also sometimes take the notion that it all doesn't matter, and oddly enough if hubby asks me how much the collection is worth I usually tell him that in another 20 years time perhaps it will be worth nothing at all and that it's more about the fact that I get enjoyment from it (but maybe that's more to do with him not finding out how much I have sent lol!)

Plus today it also occurred to me that I stopped smoking very shortly before I started pony collecting so from now on I think maybe I should stick to the train of thought of pony collecting is far better for my health plus I have something to show for the money spent and let that be that :)

Yes, I have to admit that the seller fees thing did not occur to me.

Also just to be sure I didn't mean to imply that all eBay sellers are bad.   :)

Again U.S prices on eBay are a lot fairer than U.K it's just the shipping and customs prices are crazy. I know this is just the way it is and can't be helped.

But for example - Peachy (just because she's one of the most common)

Bluerose's price check list $4.50, my guess is an arena pc would be about the same
KLECT price $5 for a good loose version
U.S eBay roughly $7-10 (just a quick glance) - plus $11 min shipping to uk but for the purposes of just a like for like price never mind that.
UK eBay £6-£12  ($8-16) plus shipping.

 See? Quite a difference   :yikes:

Roogna's customs are great.

Very cute. I love your dog's face like "yeah that's great...but what am I supposed to do with it?"

Customs / Re: Home made Flutter Wings
« on: April 07, 2016, 01:21:54 PM »
I acquired my first set of flutter wings last week and had wondered the same thing. They have lost their tabs so can't be attached, buy I had wondered about how you would go about using them as a mould.

I am sure I have seen a post or a tutorial somewhere about making them from empty plastic bottles, maybe in the tutorials in the arena gallery? But I don't think they are exactly the same.

Also I have seen before that a woman in Germany used to make replicas that looked near identical but I don't think she does anymore....I always wondered why she was the only person in the world that had figured out how to do it. Pkw does all kinds of beautiful custom wings but none quite as exact, I would have thought if anyone would have figured it out she would have.

Sorry I can't be of more help but I would also love to know the answer and if you find out how do do it I am sure you would get loads of commissions lol!
