Pony Brag Arena / Lucky weekend!
« on: April 24, 2017, 09:41:20 AM »
I wasn't going to post, but seeing as I never find G1 stuff anymore...  ^.^

I had some luck at the swapmeet; these days I mostly just go to hunt for art supplies, but I still check the odd box of toys just in case.

I thought it was one of the regular 'my little puppy' figures at first but then realised it was Baby Susie's pup Spot. Never thought I'd have one, let alone find one (he's so tiny!) but finally my baby Susie is complete. It was really expensive though. A whole 20c. Ouch.  :stunned:

Thanks, I appreciate the lovely feedback :) I'm looking into selling them (perhaps on etsy or through the arena) so when I do I'll make a post about it on here to let you guys know.

I'd like to open up for commissions on the arena, I will post about it here when I'm ready to get into some more commission work! :) (My routine's a little all over the place at the moment.) In the meantime, a piccy of Parasol with her giant twin  ^.^

I know I'll never have them all but I'd like to get all the bright sights and glitter ones. They're definite favourites.

theyre so cuteeeee, I love them all
Also mind if I ask what kind of matte varnish you ending up using? uvu, I've been on the lookout for one myself

Hi! Sorry for the delayed response; I did a bit of research and it seems a lot of people had good results with Testor's Dullcoate (clear). It comes in a small can & is a little pricey but it does give a good matte finish. The cheaper brand I tried turned out glossy, so it seems you get what you pay for.

They all look adorable! I rather like the glossy finish, myself, but the matte looks nice too.

Same ;) some things look better matte, but these-shiny all the way!

Thanks everyone!

Hi again everyone! To cut down on threads I'm going to use this one to post my petites/etc from now on. If you're keen to see extra photos or other works you can check out my deviantart gallery, I'll be adding most of my stuff there. http://kookyraccoon.deviantart.com

(With big parasol)

Been a little while, but I'm back with another one :) I was excited to be able to give mini-parasol glittery symbols like her original-version. ^.^ (Bit hard for the camera to pick up.) Glitter is not something I ever use in my other art, so I don't buy it; but fortunately I also seldom get rid of art supplies. I just happened to have a little bit of ultra-fine stuff that was perfect.

On my deviantart page there's a pic of what she looks like as a completed necklace; and the glitter is a bit clearer too! http://kookyraccoon.deviantart.com/art/Parasol-Petite-670607298

Something a little different this time; a clay sculpture of Fireball. :)

And here's the favourite-pick from the poll; Seaflower! A truly awesome pony worthy of petite-ification.

Out of curiosity anyone know if she came with a ribbon? Not sure if the Sunshine ponies did; I found a few pics of MIP ones and couldn't tell. :| Anyway, I went with yellow because it works with her colour scheme and she came with a yellow comb.

And a group shot, they look pretty all together

Jazzie has a matte finish now; I wanted to see what a non-glossy option would look like. Surprisingly hard to find matte varnish that actually turns out matte!

Love these things :) If I find time I might use this as an excuse to practice drawing!

Any more votes? I figure I'll give it another couple days then get to work. ;) Thanks for your input!

Thanks everyone :) it's so nice to read your lovely comments. shelvesofwhimsy I use a satin paint-on varnish, (the issue I had was with a new spray varnish I was trying. Nothing wrong with spray varnish, I just had a mishap lol.)

Had a minor mishap with Nightglider's eye while trialling a new varnish (not the eye, ANYTHING but the eye :faint:) but fortunately it was fixable. Paint's a little darker near her eye but she still turned out super cute. ;)

Jazzie's itty bitty rollerskates:

Maybe she was an odd pony to do, but I've always been a fan of Jazzie's colour scheme. I considered painting her without the skates but she just didn't look like Jazzie  :P Anyway, hope you guys like them.

I'll share a hint; no one's guessed the yellow one yet-she's a bit more obscure. ;) but she has two colours in her hair. I would've given more detail (i.e mane colour) but it would be really obvious; and just thought it might be fun to see what people come up with as random guesses. ^_^

I've been delayed by a side-project I'm doing for a family member, but these girls are almost done and I promise to share pics when they're ready. :)
