My Dazzle Glow was bought at K-Mart in Canada and has the blue hearts.  I wouldn't really call her purple-ish body translucent as some I've seen.

Awesome, thankyou. From your position would you say her purple streaks look straight or curly?

Also, it is the first time I have seen the back of a GnS US card, and it is interesting that Dazzle was drawn here with BLUE hearts, not pink, which goes along with all the promo material in the US too.

I need to go watch that commercial again, clearly.

Thanks all for your help, I really appreciate it, especially all the images. Now I can try and rewrite the GnS pages on the Scrapbook with more clarity, although the whole thing has piqued my interest on how many variations there really were.

Plus, who doesn't like to see a thread full of pretty GnS images...:D

No problem- glad I can help!  I love this set :D  (now I want to watch the commercial too)

To me both purple and pink streaks look straight.  I have had about 4 loose Brightglows (all purchased within the US) pass through my hands, and each of their hair has been straight.  Yours is the first curly haired Brightglow I've seen :)

Ugh I wish mine weren't packed away!  I had Starglow, Brightglow, and Happyglow as a kid.  I don't remember if they were opaque or not, I think they were not (want my ponies back!) but they all had straight hair, and I'm pretty sure Starglow had dark pink hair and Happyglow had aqua.

I don't have any good info or pics to share, but I just wanted to say how relieved I am that someone else in the world had a Brightglow with straight and curly hair. My childhood Brightglow was like this and it drove lil me BANANAS! (My Sweet Pocket was like that too, but she was a bit easier to deal with by having only two stripes in her mane and a solid tail.) I never saw another Brightglow like that afterward though, and it made me wonder if the one I had was truly Nature's Mistake, or if I was somehow misremembering how much her hair irked me. Vindication!

Awesome pics!!

BlushingBlue, it seems there are at least 3 of them in the collector community, since Eurocoin also aeems to have one,  but I am sure there are more! Can I ask where you would have bought yours?

It used to drive me nuts too...I often braided the pink and put bows in the ourple but as you can see from my photo, ultimately I gave up on neat.

I'm happy to join in any conversations about GnS ponies!

Both of my Brightglows have straight hair, but my UK Starglow came off  her badly damaged card with curly hair. My US version had straight hair. The UK one is also way more opaque, but I think opaqueness is just a variation in the plastic.

Yay more GNS info!  Very cool that there were Brightglows that had both curly and straight hair.  That might have bugged me as a kid tho too!

That's interesting. I don't remember whether my sister's Starglow was actually CURLY when she came off card in 1992, it's too long ago and the pony has been too loved since - but she does genuinely have a coarser fibre of hair than my US bought Starglow (which, having aquired loose, I can only say I got it from the US). Naynie's pony's hair is also wavy, it's definitely never been straight like my Starglow's. Sadly it's in storage, with her Happyglow, so I don't have access to it right at the moment and am working from my photo and memory ><.

As I said before, this hair thing spreads to other sets. BlushingBlue touched on it with Singing/Sweet Pocket and her hair being that way. The Rainbow Babies I had as a kid are also like that, especially Baby RainRibbon. So are the Rockin' Beats. There are a lot of mixed hair and coarser hair fibre ponies on sale in Europe in the 1991-2 line...which would suggest a shift in manufacture...but if these came up in the States as well, it maybe suggests the US KEPT issuing them after that first year, while we only got them at a slightly later date.

How come your Dazzleglow has eyeshadow, KarentheUnicorn?  :wow:

Cause she's fancy...

Actually I don't know if she does or if it's the trick of the light. I'll have to look at her more closely tonight. If she does have eyeshadow it would have came from the perm shop and that means it's been on there since...wow probably since I got her from the store!! LOL!

Most of my ponies were mine as a kid/teen, and I would have bought her she's not one I got off ebay or from another collector...but generally my ponies have been sitting on the shelves since I bought them. She could have been one of the ones I made fancy back in the day. Which is probably the case since she does have a braid that I'm pretty sure I put there.
Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

I found a picture of white-and-yellow haired Starglow when I was looking for something else.

I can't tell whose it is since the picture was from Tumblr and when I try to "visit page" it just sends me to Tumblr's main page instead of the individual Tumblr post.
