Oh no! I'm so sad to see it go! But I understand why she doesn't want to let someone else take it over. Thank you, Kimberly & DV for being there from the start!

So sad but she hasn't been involved in the MLP community for years now.  :(

Domain hosting is expensive and if you no longer have the server to host... transferring all the files is just a mess.

I remember when DV was the number one MLP info site. I will admit that I haven't used it much lately, but that doesn't mean it won't be very much missed!

As others have pointed out, it has long been a dead sight walking.  It had not been updated in years, and other sights had surpassed it in being a comprehensive resource.  It is sad to see such storied piece of history in this community disappear in a puff of smoke, but I can understand why she did not want to keep it up.

I keep seeing people mentioning other comprehensive resources but what are they? My Little Wiki and Strawberry Reef still have images missing of things that DV had, like the Little Litters Nursery sets.

Oh this was so sad for me to see on the Corral page! :( I will join in what everyone else is saying. When I first started collecting ponies, Dream Valley was the first one I found and the one I would always go to for reference. It led me to the Arena and the MLP Trading Post! Even when the site stopped updating, it still held a special place in my heart and I would go back to look at information about the tv shows.

I'm sad the site couldn't stay up in an archival fashion, but I do understand that hosting can get expensive. Sorry to see such a part of history go. :(
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

Very true! I think DV had the most comprehensive guide to the G1 cartoon series, too, unless I'm mistaken.

 So sad. DV was my go to site when I was collecting in 98-01ish. I spent hours on there identifying my garage sale finds and looking at all the amazing stuff that I didn't know existed. Such good memories. I understand why she's doing it but it'll be greatly missed.

Definitely a disappointment for me :(

I found it today too and it is just haunting.  Totally the end of an era for older collectors.  I remember making little wish lists with it when I was little.

I will miss it!

That's sad, sad news. The site will be missed. :(
And I also want to ask, what other sites are there?

I was thinking of the two sites mentioned.  DV may have some info/pics of g1 that others don't but only g1.  It's sadly lacking in terms of anything after.

So yes, there might be an argument for it being most comprehensive for g1.  But not for the entirety of My Little Pony.

So sad. Dream Valley started me on collecting as well. I had found it to ID some of my childhood ponies, then when I found a pony in a thrift store I went back to it to ID. That's when I found out G3s were coming out soon, and the rest is history.

It is too bad it can't stay somewhere as an archive. I'd be willing to give some of my server space even - I'm already paying for it and have tons. It would just take copying the files over.

That's so sad :( I remember way back in 2002 when i was looking for MLP stuff online and found DV. I never realised just how many ponies there were and going through the site and seeing all those ponies made me want to be a collector.

So sad to see it gone :(

I agree that there was some G1 info on Dream Valley that hasn't been added to other sites yet like the free pony makeup included with some ponies and which ponies had the free Mommy/Mummy charms included also.  I also think as many have mentioned that the Dream Valley site was a very personal site for Kim since she used pictures of her own collection and if I remember correctly had a full set of Years 1-10 US ponies and playsets as well as several international ponies and the Dream Beauties and Petite Ponies.

It also had not been updated since the early years of G3.

If the info is known thanks to DV, why don't people just add it to the wiki? Then the wiki would be more accurate, the knowledge wouldn't be lost (or held only by those who read DV a lot), and the entire community would benefit. It sounds like at least a good bit of the info people are specifically mentioning would at least be helpful written down so Kim's photos don't need to be used.
