Who's the Baddest of the Bad Disney Villains?

This was a conversation brewing in the chat box which seemed to deserve its own poll.


Disney villains seem to fall into several categories.  Some are motivated by a goal, some exemplify something negative about human nature which causes them to antagonize or harm someone else, and some are just pure polar evil through and through.


So people, who's your pick for the Baddest of the Bad?  Of course, if your choice isn't listed, or if you can't pick just one, comment below!

I voted Frollo, though he might not be super humanly evil like some of the others that only makes him scarier to me. Because in his mind he is trying to be good, and most 'real life villians' seem to be the same. Very creepy.

I went for Scar from the Lion King.


How could he leave his little nephew thinking he killed his father? That upsets me the most of any villain's deeds.

Oh boy Eviecorn, now I'm torn between Frollo, Scar and Gothel.  They are all unbelievably cruel and manipulative to children!!  I mean really, WHO DOES THAT?!

Frollo, hands down.
I love how dark 'Notre Dame' is compared to a lot of other Disney films.

Hands down mother gothel.....keeps a magic flower secret when she could use it to heal so many, steals a child and uses her for her magic power, locks her in a tower her entire life and then stabs a man....

I mean lots of them have murder under their belt but she has attempted murder and a whole lot more!!!

This is precisely the reason I see him as more evil.  His motivations are prejudice against those who are different, all the while trying to mask his own inner demons and desire (he's weak, so he must eliminate everything which gives him grief.)

He wants to destroy Esmerelda because he's conflicted over his attraction to her, which, in his mind, violates all kinds of codes of social order.  Most of the other villains want something like power, riches, or revenge.  Frollo ... is just a really, really nasty guy who uses his power for evil.

(Yes, I actually put a spoiler alert on that, just in case. )

I always thought that Frollo was the most scary. Mostly because he is so HUMAN. It's a level of 'evil' that has and does already exist within the world. So that's what's a little frightening to me.

I also voted for Frollo. While a lot of villains that used to creep me out when I was a kid don't anymore, Frollo still very much gives me chills.

Scar is not evil necisarily for JUST the deed he committed, though killing your brother and trying to kill your nephew is pretty dang evil. It is HOW he committed it that makes him evil. He was CALCULATING about it. He thought out every detail and manipulated *others* to do *HIS*  dirty work. You knew he was bad, but those doing the dirty work thought that they were doing it for their own personal benefit the whole time--but were only playing right into Scar's paws, and never even knew it.

Hence why I say that Scar, the calculating evil genius is the most evil Disney villain of them all.


(And Also, Vanilla Bean, if you think the Disney Movie is dark, you should read the original Hunchback story. Everyone dies in the end. SO not a happy ending like Disney said There WAS NO SEQUEL to the book.)

I voted for Maleficent. She was the only Disney villain that I ever found "scary" as a child. She shows up and places a death curse on a baby for no significant reason.
