1990s UK MLP comics
« on: May 01, 2013, 04:09:09 AM »
Anyone have any idea what these might be worth?  I have a whole pile of them in reasonable condition.  They seem to feature a lot of the UK/Euro sets from the early 90s that weren't released in the US

Its going to depend on which numbers you have :)

I know there will be lots of people interested, myself included. But prices will depend on the actual numbers of the comics - the higher the number the pricer they will become. Do you perhaps know which ones you have? Even if its a range of numbers rather than individual ones? That will ensure you get the most accurate pricing.

I have No. 4 - One Autumn Day - dated 1985

Then I have 2 sequences - 148 to 158 (one has the Valentines card still attached, one has the balloon still attached - it has gone sticky with age though, and one has the pony booklet still attached.  Alas, one says it came with a door hanger, which I do not have)

Then I have 169 - 174 - the Christmas issue still has the comb attached.

Wow if they still have the free gifts attached that will raise the price for sure :) I'm going to say $10+ each. Im not a comic expert, as in, I only know for sure what the earlier issues sell for which is $3-4 a piece :)

Wow!  I will be listing these on eBay soon (I will post here when I do so).  Do you think I'm better off listing them individually?

I'd also being interested in this. I still have all my comics in storage - one has a picture i submitted in a competition when I was six! It had sunsparkle on the front and came with free glow in the dark stars <3 will never sell that issue though!

Good luck with your sales  ^.^

I NEED the one with the valentines card...  :drunk:

I know I've paid about £6 each for the two comics I have with the valentines cards still attached.

The ones where the free gifts are cards tend not to go as high as the other free gifts. I've picked up a number of these recently for £3-4 each. Other gifts, like the comb and balloon, tend to go higher.

The comics up to about #100 tend to go pretty cheap, usually around £1-£2.50each. #101-around #180ish are sort of middling in value and can go anywhere from  £2 to about £5each. The ones above that are the tricky ones to track down that can go for quite a bit sometimes! These are for ones missing gifts, so the ones with gift will add more, though it depends which gift it is.

To get the most money, you would be best selling individually. Generally when comics are  sold as lots they go for less than the individual value. I know I'm still looking for #151! (And will keep an eye out for the gifts to see which ones and how it compares with what I have already ;) )

LadyG is the expert on price - I agree with what she has said for pricing and certainly that listing individually is the best idea to get you the most money. Sometimes you can get higher for the #160+ mark because they are tougher to find and people will bid up to track them down. Good luck with your sales!

I am starting to list these now.  I will ship internationally! :)

My eBay name is Gemfyre.

(I'll do a proper post to the auction boards when I've listed all my stuff for this month, I have a lot more than just comics.)
