Look inside the pony, could be rust? Or maybe a surface you had them on stained her.

Well I just got her so, I know she didn't get the stains from me, I'll try  sun fading first.

That definitely looks like cancer to me. I would hit it with bleach, then maybe try sun fading or peroxide/sun fading.

I'm not sure what the current thought is on bleach, so you might want to ask around a little more before just using it on your pony.  And be VERY careful with anything that you use around the eyes.  Various cleaning agents can take the coating off the eye jewels, such as peroxide.

Those are age spots / vinyl deterioration (mistakenly called 'cancer', which is wrong for many reasons including because it's not alive and not communicable in the traditional sense).

They aren't generally fixable, though can sometimes be lightened with sunfading.  Such is the nature of unstable materials, they break down with age.

So in the case of age spots, do people reccomend sending the pony off to a person with an airbrush and a good sense of color matching? Is their any long term harm in touching up a pony's age spots with paint, and should any primer be used?

Adding anything to a pony has potential long term repercussions.  Paint can end up being quite damaging, as the dyes are prone to seepage and deterioration over the long term.  It's impossible to say 'this paint and this pony will be fine in X years' because at this point in time, every pony has gone through a different aging process, and they weren't uniform in plastic composition to begin with.  Paint is also a complete gamble, with formulations varying between brands.  It might be okay, it might be a total disaster.

Because the outcome is so random/uncertain, painting over is not recommended unless you're going for a full body repaint / custom anyways, at which point it hardly matters what it might do to the underlying vinyl's colour.

Perhaps some pony wear might help?

I wouldn't bleach it without a lot of research first.  Actually I bought 2 ponies recently that have the tell-tale white patches where someone used a harsh chemical to try and remove a spot... ends up bleaching the plastic instead, even months or years down the track it will turn the area white.

Bleach can discolor ponies and make their hair really gross. I can't imagine it would be kind to TE eyes either. Its not worth it. Just sell/trade the pony if you can't stand pony cancer.

I don't mind the stains, you should see my childhood ponies, I just wanted to know what it was and to make sure it wouldn't spread to my other ponies.
