Pony Corral / Re: Unappreciated G3s
« on: July 19, 2013, 07:22:24 PM »
I came into pony collecting when I started watching FiM  but I got really interested in G3 during the dry spell between Wave 2 and Wave 3 of Playful Ponies.  There's just so many incredible color combos and its so much fun to spend less than $10-$15 and get wonderful new ponies in the mail :D

Desert Palm is probably my favorite that I don't see mentioned very often:

Other favorites I own:
Silver Rain- Her blue gradient legs and indigo mane are just breathtaking!
Wondermint- So simple, yet I love her posing and mane streaks.
Thistle Whistle- Such a complex cutie mark!  Her blue-green color really pops in combination with her flourescent mane(pictures simply cannot do her justice!).  Plus, she smells great.   :drunk:

you know when FS AJ fist came out I saw slews of her in the store and thought "naw I'll get one later" thinking they would re-relase her a million times shows what I know!

Arrrrg, this xD   I remember holding her in my hand and wondering if I should start collecting FS or not, but by the time I had money to spend on the FS girls there was not a trace of her!

I barely appreciate the non-pony plushies I already have, so I am not going to buy any of the BABs until my favorite(Twilight Sparkle) is released :)

Pony Corral / Re: Least favourite/Most disappointing G4 merch?
« on: April 07, 2013, 06:18:56 PM »
The most disappointing thing for me so far are the blind bag size three-packs.  I love that they spent time on the specialty molds but the paint jobs are some of the worst yet.  The Cadance I ended up with was particularly sloppy and it was then I decide to spend my money on brushables only.  Because $8 for two tiny ponies packaged with a third I already own, is way too much money for that.  Lo and behold, the release of exciting new brushables has slowed to a mere trickle.  Alas...

Just from the designs, it feels like it goes against the original character theme of the show-  that every girl is different!  Putting every single one of them in a skirt and makeup seems to miss that point.

Pony Corral / Re: Wah! Wal-Mart Why?
« on: January 28, 2013, 06:46:46 AM »
My Wal-Mart has been pretty sparse on the pony for at least a year or so; no plushes, blind bags, trading cards, and didn't get the free posters. It's frustrating because they never get things that are supposed to be Wal-Mart exclusives, either. As others have said, hopefully your pony section will buck up soon as they move things around. I've pretty much lost hope on mine haha.

This is the situation at my local Wal-Mart too.  Have to drive across town to find anything good from them!

This definitely happens with other fandoms too.  Especially with the presence of the internet, if spreads and gets out of control.  Eventually the scope becomes so wide, its not just children or horse lovers and animation buffs but all kinds of people with intentions good or bad.  So when you go to a meet, you're finding a lot of people who may not be like you, may be way younger or way older, people who like the show for many different reasons.   And I think that's great!  You just have to find your niche, and that's what places like this forum are wonderful for.

In general, its something you learn to deal with over time, and you keep showing up to find like-minded folks, but it does get frustrating when you want to say "These are my people!"   But really they are not.

I'd buy them.  :)

I haven't had money up until now and have been too lazy to see if any are for sale.  I'm sure there's still a demand of sorts.

I think I'm going through a lull too.  Still love my ponies, but I'm really not excited to go pony hunting like I have been.  I know it will return in time.  :)

With only a few exceptions, I plan on buying brushables only, I've been unhappy with the quality level+pricing of the specialty mini size pony packs and I've got blind bags coming out my ears now.  So I certainly hope that is not the case!

I'm still awaiting the re-release of FS Applejack, too... ;_;

Pony Corral / Re: Do you regret buying sometimes?
« on: October 02, 2012, 05:44:07 AM »
I always feel a little bit of fleeting guilt because ultimately I'm spending money on little plastic horses that do nothing but chill in my room, but I keep my budget reasonable and I've never found myself in a jam because of it.  They do bring me happiness, and are a great stress reliever just by being there,  its just harder to quantify in a practical way, like video games or clothes.

So if you are indeed enjoying the books, you have every freedom to brush that guilt and embarrassment away, don't make yourself feel bad by judging yourself on the standards of others.  :frolic:

Off Topic / Re: I saw a huge caterpillar today - Share your bug pics too!

I don't have a picture but when  I was younger, I found a pair of Pandorus Sphinx caterpillars!  They are very soft, smooth caterpillar will really cute little feet!  I had never seen anything like them, and haven't seen any since.  I set them free so that they could do their caterpillary things! They were very gentle and fun to handle.  Wish you could keep em as long term pets.

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone never expect to get into ponies?
« on: September 11, 2012, 08:53:36 PM »
I never expected to become a collector either!  I had a grand total one of one pony as a child but I thought she was a little goofy looking and kinda boring since she wasn't posable/dressable-  not nearly as interesting as my Ninja Turtles, Legos, or Barbies.   Years and years later, when I got on the internet I felt like I had missed out on something because even before FiM there was a lot of pony love going around.  But I kept scorning ponies until my husband started watching season one of FiM.  I quickly fell in love with the show, the characters, the lore... then, I just  HAD to get my hands on the toys! :D  And we all know, with ponies, you can't just have one  six enough!  ;)  So here I am, collecting G3s and G4s but appreciating all ponies now and the love everyone here has for them!  ^-^

Aw, thanks!  That is the first pony dress I have ever designed. :D

Now I really know I need to color it. ;)
She's Twilight Sparkle-  I put the element of Magic on her head since her cutie mark is covered.

Unfortunately I don't think I could successfully do drawn commissions since I only work with pen and paper.  Ergo the finished product wouldn't look as sleek and professional quality as most digital art does.  Also no scanner so all I can do is take pics of a pic.

If you could send the finished product in the mail, I'm sure people would be interested.   I know people tend to shower more attention on digital works but I think there's definitely a market for traditional art still!

I know if I were one to commission art, I'd opt for traditional <3
